  • bass player is holdin it down.

  • the cellos are definitly the best in this preformance. The violins are kind of false from time to time and not very syncroniced. But by all means, well played :)

  • One of the first violins is out of tune.

  • @TheBlomberFactory haha thankkyou (: we Perfromed it for A Competition and we got straight 1's :)

  • my school is doing this and we're going to be just about this awesome

  • were playing this overture :) in middle school

  • @MiaXxChuChu Good luck, and that is not sarcasm.

  • The tempo on this performance is exactly the way I prefer it. Perfecto! thanks for posting this, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • yep perfect tempo, but bad quality for this video X_X

  • Every time I listen to this I get chills. :) I love it.

  • I live in Preston and have played in the Guild hall so many times but I have never heard the City of Preston Orchestra until now.

  • This work is outstanding! The piece is played exactly as Handel composed it, together with the exact number of orchestra players first performed in Ireland.

For those of you in the USA: this concert is performed by an English Choir and English Orchestra. The Orchestra and Choir are all professional performers. Remember also that the quality of Youtube is not of the same high standard produced in real time performance or on the DVD which is recorded in Dolby 5.1

  • our school did the whole messiah part one with the overture and its accompanied by our own orchestra

  • Nice work! I'm in my high school senior concert band and we're also playing the Messiah overture. ^^ This is such a wonderful song.

  • This version seems to run pretty true to the recorded versions that I have, so well done!

To others interested in the entire oratorio, I recommend Sir Malcolm Sargent and the London Royal Philharmonic. The BEST!

  • i think this overture was made by mozart,...i had adquired the double cd off this,i was 16years old,2 off greatest genius off music-HANDEL and MOZART

  • You know, Mozart was like three years old when Handel died.

  • sorry, but if surch in google or a enciclopedy.you can see that mozart make a second version basead on haendel work messiah,he was maked the version actualized to the classic era...the version most heard off this work was that...i like haendel very much too...the versio was made on a single wrote whithout a mistake and whithout a partiture in front off his eyes!!!!

  • Oh, I'm terribly sorry, I thought that you accused Händel of having stolen it from Mozart.

  • don`t hurry, many peolpe don´t now...but know, now you know :-) haendel was one off the best composers off alltime and mozart the same thing

  • is allright, don*t hurry, many peolple don`t now the facts, haendel and mozart will live forever in ours hearts...and ears:)...like vivaldi too:)

  • it's my first year of high school and we have to play this, it's insane. -_-

just the overture, but i'm not even close to being as good as the other violinists in that class

  • It's not that difficult. Just take the tempo slow and work your way up : )

  • to mccs92, im also in my second high school year and our school is playing the entire handel messiah. i play the violin so i dont really have many suggestions for you except i hope it goes well!

  • this is breath taking! I'm in my second year of high school and the band, orchestra and chorus are working on this piece! Of course not the whole Handel Messiah.I play the viola. Are there any suggestions to give while playing this piece?

  • I'm also playing this on the viola in a my high school orchestra, and we're accompanying the chorus. We're playing the whole messiah however. The only thing I can say is: Stretch out your fingers before you play, and get comfortable in your seat. This is one of the easier pieces of the messiah. The best suggestion would be to count to yourself a lot, and don't count of ques from the conductor, considering that they only care about the chorus.

  • ¡Muchas gracias!

  • Gozosa interpretación.
