the hyper-scroll is utterly useless.... you can do the same thing by middle clicking on a page and dragging the mouse up or down lol so stupid, it makes the middle mouse click chintzy as hell and it rattle when you shake it. good mouse in all other areas tho :D

Also, you can seperatly set DPI for each of the sets. For example you an program 5 different settings for DPI which you can change on the fly. The best for me however is the fact that....you can seperately set DPI for horizontal move and for vertical move - this is great with nowadays 16:10 and 16:9 LCD screens because they are wider than taller and increasing horizontal DPI without increase in vertical makes this mouse very very comfortable.

@pootubeftw its not that bad of a scroller. i did enjoy the razer copperhead one more, though. it has 2 settings on the scroller, which is changed by hitting a button below it. one setting has bumps as you go through the scroll, and the other takes the bumps away, which makes it easier when going through a lot of pages etc. i rather enjoy it now.

its a completely useless feature for me though, i've lived with locked scroll wheel for 15 years and i dont see a reason why i would need one now, just for when i surf pages (who doesnt need scrolling 95% of the time anyway). besides this is advertised as a gaming mouse, and in games this function really is of no use at all. so basically, i buy a mouse with functions which i'd never use, which to me, is wasting money :).

@jorge2306 As Logitech use mostly the same software you should go for the "Setpoint" application software for this mouse. With it you can change all different settings, from DPI to programmable buttons. You find it at their website i.e Logitech(dot)com

@csplayer12345 The mouses are basically the same differ that the G400 use optical reading and the G500 laser.

@xAcolz I have been using the G5 and personally go for the G500 as it's laser, the G400 is a better version of MX518 as stated above.

It is a very good mouse, and I have had no problems with it, not even the scroll wheel. I got it for £36 on PC World, the sensitivity can be changed to 5 levels with SetPoint, which is very useful. Very good.

@aktm1407 I got it for free because i had a 3 year guarantee on the g5. So they had to give me g500 cause they didn't have g5 anymore. It was the closest mouse in the terms of the company (logitech) and the price and specs range. Sweet :)

Wow... Even some really cheap old logitech mice had these very simple rubber wheels which don't spin by themselves at all, which is great for gaming.

I'm not a big fan of these expensive mice with way too many buttons. I'm used to playing any game with a simple 3 button mouse, and it works great. Although I like the precision and comfort of these mice, IMO, they're a waste of money, unless you're really anal about that sort of thing.

I have this mouse, and god its horrible, the middle mouse gets jammed, and when i use the LMB sometimes the Middle mouse gets on, and some time its get disconnected (idk why) I dont recommend it. But thats just my experience.

@LLWut It's a great mouse, I think; had mine for about six months.  Middleclick is a tricky at first, and the lock works great if you use it like a normal person. Yeah it's weak, but even when I'm in a rush to change three clicks over, one click, five clicks, it's still dead on. Adjustable DPI is great, very responsive mouse; it lasts through hours on end and it still behaves like new!

I've had this mouse for a year, It died on me tonight. It was getting worse and worse each day it seemed. It would not register my clicks 50% of the time and it seemed to be getting "slower" since the day i bought it. It was an awesome mouse for the short time i had it. But it just doesnt last long (in my case that is). Now, when I click it won't even register it. Left or right. Using a stock microsoft mouse right now :<

One question: I dunno if you're familiar with the EXCELLENT Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 which I've been using for years, it can add in an undefined number of .EXE files for customizing the lateral buttons. It is certainly not "useless for gaming" some games (crysis etc) have weapons that are usually single shot semni auto (pistol in crysis); if you bind scroll wheel to fire you can get a whole clip off damn fast

I just happened to pick this up yesterday at my local BestBuy. It's replacing my super old Razer Deathadder. The features are pretty nice and I had no problem getting it setup. I didn't run into any problems with the drivers/ side buttons being too close together that some people were complaining about. Overall, the mouse, is awesome so far.
