I'm from WV, not far from Boone County. This documentary is really a glimpse into the lifestyles of a lot of people from around here, not just the Whites. Everyone is on pills and welfare. I live in Morgantown, WV. It's the home of the state's University so life here is a bit more sophisticated:) Big energy companies are mostly to blame for our 'hillbilly' problem. They want this state to stay the way it is with uneducated people, poor roads, etc. Our coal should have made us one of the richest states around but, Big Energy keeps things shitty so no one wants to move here. This isn't the first documentary that has been done about Jesco. I saw The Dancing Outlaw about ten years ago. the white family needs help. i watched the movie n saw the kids n felt so bad for em. theyre gonna end up just like there parents. but its the same over here in ky. bunch of ppl on drugs grew up around drugs grew up around gov. checks n therefore continue the family legacy of poverty. i grew up in a decent sized city n thought drugs were bad there till i moved to appalachia. pretty sad. im not sayin everyone in appalachia needs help but WAY to many ppl in appalachia do.

I don't believe you can judge a entire state by a few people. This is so stereotypical. I am from the exact same town as these people and I, myself, act nothing of this sort. I am rather intelligent. Being from the eastern part of WV and having lived in many states as well and you better believe its like that almost everywhere. This film never would have been made if not for Jesco White, who had a doc made about him back in the early 90s. This was someone looking to make a buck and show how trashy junkie racits will act with a camera on them.

I'm from WV, not far from Boone County. This documentary is really a glimpse into the lifestyles of a lot of people from around here, not just the Whites. Everyone is on pills and welfare. Girls around here will fuck you straight up if you got oxycotton. Racism is rampant. Jobs are hard to find, so it seems like everybody gets fucked up all the time. Wild but not Wonderful.

I live in Morgantown, WV. It's the home of the state's University so life here is a bit more sophisticated:) Big energy companies are mostly to blame for our 'hillbilly' problem. They want this state to stay the way it is with uneducated people, poor roads, etc. Our coal should have made us one of the richest states around but, Big Energy keeps things shitty so no one wants to move here. Their ultimate goal is cheap, uneducated labor and plentiful, cheap mountains to strip mine.

This isn't the first documentary that has been done about Jesco. I saw The Dancing Outlaw about ten years ago. Yes, he's a disgrace, and people think vile things about West Virginians...but you have to be able to laugh at yourself. Every state in the US and every country on Earth has its own trash... and let's just face it, it's FUN to watch. I'm still proud to be from West Virginia...of course it has nothing to do with this!
