  • so many disney seems come from this or are used again in this small feature

  • 2:33 Anyone else wonder if the croc loses more meals that way?

  • Sterling Holloway narrated this.

  • Looks like the Tiger got his just deserts at 2:26.

  • 2:24 warn every elephant in the march

  • so just like tomai of the elephants

  • should've dropped the mouse

  • That doesn't qualify because the Jungle Book was released in 1967, this came out seven years earlier in 1960. But it's obvious that the Jungle Book used some animation and element (or in this case 'elephants') from this.

  • Is that Bruce Reitherman (Mowgli/Christopher Robin) as Goliath II?

  • @GhostPlanetFilms

i thought it was pooh bear or piglet

  • @hurmpfff What? I'm talking about the little elephant.

  • @GhostPlanetFilms no that's Kevin Corcoron the young actor who played Arliss in "Old Yeller", Francis in "Swiss Family Robinson", and the title character "Toby Tyler" his nickname was moochie when he starred in The Mickey Mouse Club series

  • @m2sciarra oh. Tank you!

  • I wonder what he would look like as an adult

  • One thing you all missed!

Basically this was an experimental film.

Disney was experimenting with the "xerography" system that all but did away with hand inking of cels.

This was the first to use that method.

  • A mouse from Cinderella, the Owl from Bambi, the Crocodile from Peter Pan, and the bird is mimicking the actions of a bird from Alice in Wonderland?

Holy Crap! They've got Disney animals from everywhere!

  • @MrAndrewsaccount92 and the elephants from dumbo at the start n_+

  • @MrAndrewsaccount92 ....and the father elephant from Jungle Book

  • @MrAndrewsaccount92 Actually it's the owl from Sleeping Beauty.

  • @ComicPhreak Nevermind I saw the owl from Bambi in there too.

  • tell the other elephants first

  • 1. 2:15 After Goliath's mother gave Raja the old "CAT"-apult, I think Raja may have learned his lesson. Never come between a mother and her child.

    2. 6:34 Sorry, Mr. Crocodile, no free lunch here!

    3. The moral to this story: Even the smallest can make a big difference!

  • 0:15 Hes how old??

  • @iheartart101 sound like 9 ? maybe lol

  • that looks a version of the mouse from Cinderella - I can't remember his name

  • @EmmaC1204 Jaq or Gus? The mouse here was voiced by Paul Frees.

  • @GAGAXAVI Yeah, I'm not so sad after all ;)

  • 3:27 Jungle Book :) HHAHHA I'm sooo sad :)) (and Dumbo, I'm adding things cos its interesting

  • 3:27 Jungle Book :) HHAHHA I'm sooo sad :))

  • Woooooo! More reused animation!!! I'm a saddo, yes, I know :) xx

  • is that the owl from bambi xDDD !

  • 1:00 remake of scene from Ichabod Crane

  • whos Toby Tyler?

  • what a mean mouse

  • goliath is voiced by the little boy who played TOBY TYLER!

  • ouch at 2:41 to 2:48!

  • This cartoon has redone scenes from just about any of the first Disney movies

  • That is one satisfied gator/crocodile at 2:30

  • It's a combination Jungle Book, Peter Pan, and 101 Dalmatians

  • "According to Floyd Norman, reuse was just one of [Reithermans] trademarks, and had nothing to do with time or cost savings:

"Reuse was just Woolie's thing. He never did it to save money. I really don't think the "Old Guard" ever had any interest in saving money. I was never a big fan of reuse, but it wasn't my place to tell these old guys what to do. One final thought. It never seemed to bother Walt, and I never heard him complain about reuse."

  • Notice how Goliath's size keeps changing throughout the whole thing. :P

  • The part at 3:25 to 7:30 is hilarious!

  • at 5:50 and 5:49 the crocodile its from peter pan

  • Well, the reason for a lot of the recycled material is that animation at that time, during the 60s was becoming very costly, and the budget for these things was becoming smaller and smaller. Instead of going over the budget, the animators needed to draw over previous animation, so that they stayed within the budget. Animation is expensive, even to this day. Does anyone know how much it takes to do an animated movie now? Today, common budget is over $100 million.

  • The bird with the eggs animation in this movie is similar to that same animation on Alice in Wonderland... The mouse looks like one of Cinderella's mice friends, or Amos from Ben and Me... The mother elephant was voiced by the Same actress who played Flora in Sleeping beauty... and the croc is from Peter Pan.

  • @mrclassickids Actally the owl is from Bambi.

  • see a spanking now this is a cartoon these young kids need to see.

  • Comment removed

  • Now where's pooh bear?

  • Music from 101 dalmatians! I just realized it. That's the music used when the cat was about to enter into the house.

  • the mouse shaking, the elephants running from the mouse, and goliaths sounds are all Dumbo's

  • Lol, I did miss something. There's the happy crocodile from Peter Pan, and the jaw snap from the same movie. The motions of Captain Hook are even the same. Didn't Merlyn from the Sword and the Stone use that same mouse form in an animal duel?

  • Comment removed

  • hey that was the same croc from peter pan!!!

  • the owl in the day time is from bambi =3

  • Actually the Jungle Book recycled scenes from this, it was released before the Jungle Book, and animation is expensive and time consuming especially traditional hand drawn animation such as this, so every frame is extremely expensive. I commend Disney on recycling, it's very resourceful.

  • @hullbkh I have to disagree. The recycling in Robin Hood kind of killed it for me (although for the most part, it was re-using sequences from within itself, not other films). The fact that Little John was practically a cut-and-paste of Baloo from The Jungle Book was very distracting. I know that Robin Hood was low-budget, but the visual quality was impacted so severely that it ruined what was otherwise a great animated film.

  • it's kinda like bambi because it is the same voice and he says mmmooottthhheeerrr instead of mother

  • Let's see, the Movies they recycled: Dumbo, Peter Pan, Jungle Book Sleeping Beauty, and Alice in Wonderland

If i missed any, let me know

  • they reused for the legend of sleepy hollow

  • 00:10 Stop being a pest, yeah Goliath isn't the one who caused a 6 elephant pile up.

5:04 Nothing makes a mouse's ego go sky high than scaring a pack of elephants. Try talking to a tiger than I'll be impressed.

  • This was Disney's first foray into the use of "Xerography" for animation.

This system allowed the animation clean up people to transfer the exact line drawings from the animators to the acetate which would be painted.

This took a lot of pressure off the women that had to laboriously copy every line from the animation drawing, by hand inking.

Disney used this system from 1959 through the mid 80's.

Don't be so quick to put this film down.

  • maney scens was from like Peter Pan, Dumbo, Djungel Book

  • the crocs like the one of peter pan the same actions to and more actions of the bird and owl and the sound if the elaphants sound like dumbo

  • What a cute toon and, basically, the whole thing was made up of recycled animation. :P

  • LMAO it wuz soooooooo funny seein the mouse wrestle lil goliath lolzzzz....

  • QUESTION!

....Why is the elephant afraid of a mouse? o_o

  • I've just noticed 2 more recycled things: the creepy owl in the night is the same one in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and the stupid mouse follow the movements of Timothy Mouse in Dumbo when he try to scare the elephants.

  • LOL at aligator!!!

  • The Tiger Looks Like Scar.

  • Such A nasty Tiger.

  • The croc is a recolor of Peter Pan's croc.

  • 2:18 Raja, the tiger whom yearns to taste an elephant is a codfish!

  • The fact that they reused so much animation and that this is the first Disney cartoon to fully use the Xerox method has a clear picture on what the future Disney films would be like until "The Rescuers" softened the drawing lines and didn't use that much previous animation footage.

  • a mouse.....a stupid tiny mouse....wow....

  • Recycled animation is done out of cheapness and/or lazyness. This crosses that line into what is only assumed to be advertisement. Disney likes to do that. I like to play "Spot the recycled material" all the time.

  • Dude, it was MUCH harder to animate back then, and more costly. We could make the argument that using computers today is done out of laziness :P

  • Notice that its Poo bare that is talking

  • n the same alligator from hook

  • Actually it due to budget reason, Filmation did the same.Animation was a bit expensive back the 50's and 70's , so they reuse the frames to cut the cost.

  • @TheLordmep it wasn't always like that!

  • @TheLordmep "Spot the reused music" too.

At 0:47, I think that music was in 101 Dalmatians and Jungle Book.

  • first his left eye was black, then on his father's head, the right eye.

  • Goes to show great things can come in small packaging... Literally.

  • Lol when he screams or wtfever he sounds like Sarah from the original Land Before Time during the earth quake or whatever.

ps who cares if the animals look the same, its probably the same artist.

Mind you, all these movies are old.

  • Wow, a Chaotic Evil mouse, don't see that every day. Most mice are mischievious at worst, this one threatened, and then was trying to kill Goliath 2, just for standing up to him. What a dick. XD

  • This is like some one mashed up,pooh, tiger, dumbo and the jungle book while on CRACK!!!!!

  • 0:57

    FUCK that elephant is small

  • The owl at 1:37 is the same one that Icabod sees on his way home from the Van Tessell Halloween party!

  • And the second owl is from Bambi! XD

  • The gator is like the one from Peter Pan. I wonder if they meant to put all of those references in here? Cute little story though.

  • It is a crocodile, not a gator.

  • tomato, potato. they both grow on a tree.

  • What grows? The Crocs?

  • both. plants and gators

  • neither a tomato or a potato grow on trees

  • @misskity6 I'm guessing someone who isn't an agricultural expert told you otherwise. I'm also thinking you don't know that a pineapple grows on a bush.

no worries, it's a common mistake.

  • @NickyAiuto Leftover from Peter Pan.

  • @NickyAiuto is from peter pan

  • did u notice that when the elephants crashs it's the scene almost the same seen as the jungle book the owl looked like the on in bambi plus they have the same nosie as dumbo

  • Mouse! Run for your lives!

  • I think the story of Elephants being afraid of mice spawns from the story of Jumbo the elephant who would have his feet knawed by rats at night and became very afraid of them despite his size.

  • Well that was sweet.... but wow was there a lot of reused animation there.

  • Same elephant noises for Dunbo..and the mices voice sound the same..sorta.

  • i want a little elephant like goliath II

  • What a minite Fuzzyrats12 you want a pet Elephant?

    That's crazy!

  • I never did get why people assumed elephants were afraid of mice. But being scared of crocs is totally understandable.

  • the mythbusters tested that myth and it was true. lol

  • lol i'm sure it's something disney came up with.. can't be based on something true.. that's just silly xD well, unless elephants are only scared of stepping on them and hurting them.. or getting their feet dirty with mouse guts lmao

  • 5:50 "Oh mister corocdile, do you like rat ta ta? Oh you do?"

  • 2:18 "Hook is a codfish! Hook is a codfish!' LOL!!

  • :44-:55- Music is Reused in Jungle Book

  • 2:41-2:48- That probably really hurts.

  • i forgot about this for the longest time, i don't know why i loved it when i was little *sighs* disney doesn't make em like they used to.

  • fantastic

  • Winnie the Pooh

  • that lil'Goliath soo cute!!!:)

  • Nice, i love your idea and your lesson. This is one of my favorites.

    Thank you

  • More like Wolfgang Reitherman's style.

  • Wow this movie is full of other disney references but that was Bill Peet's style to take old Disney scenes in new movies.

  • The narrator sounds like Winnie the Pooh

  • That's Sterling Holloway. He did the voice of Winnie the Pooh.

  • It's sterling holloway. His voice is very notable in Disney films.

  • Wow! A multi-recycled cartoon! Peter pan, the Jungle book, Bambi and Alice in wonderworld referrences...

  • I can see the stuff from Peter Pan and The Jungle Book. but what about the other stuff?

  • The owl is the same of Bambi and the Tucan's doing the same movemens of the mother bird in Alice in Wonderland.

  • Also the tiger is referenced from the wolf in The Sword and the Stone....sputtering and weezing like he's out of breath....oh and the scene of affection between Goliath II and his mom is referenced from Dumbo and his mom....

  • What does the mouse say after he counts to one? I couldn't understand him.

  • Simple. He said "Better get movin"

  • R.I.P. Sterling Holloway. We'll miss you.

  • Not only did they use the same crocodile. I think they just recolored some of the exact same frames from Peter Pan.

  • the croc from Peter Pan, The owl from bambi, the tigers name is the same as the tiger in Aladdin, and the mouse scares of the elephants in the same way that the one in dumbo did.

  • How did the crocodile went to neverland if he lived in the jungle! o_O

In Peter pan 2 he went back to the jungle cause there was more food there and it was hard to catch captain hook lmao! XD

  • Cat= Captin Hook? O_o

    Crocodile from peter pan!

  • The way Goliath trumpets at 2:45 is exactly how Dumbo trumpeted. And you can hear the little elephant's trumpet from The Jungle Book at 7:02.

  • oh, and peter pan's crocodile XD

  • I love this, winnieh the pooh, all kind of disney songs and jungle book together, I love it! x3

  • Not only are the animations the same from other Disney cartoons, but some of the music is, too. xD

Even if you watch Robin Hood and The Aristocats, they use the same dance segment. They did that a lot with their old animations, I guess it cost less.

  • I love how you can find ANYTHING on Youtube, even old movies like this! :D

  • Sometimes it's so dificult to be accepted

    from the others! Great animation!

  • The moral of the story is: try to get accepted in society by any means ...

    ... sad and wrong.

    Good animation though!

  • ...did you not finish watching? He saved the herds butts by defeating the mouse.....

  • at 0:44 to 1:30 is music from 101 dalmatians when the cat goes into hell hall

  • You're right.

  • Yeah man it's amazing how they used the same songs in diffferent disney movies.

  • 3:28-3:34 was the same frame from The Jungle Book and 2:18-2:20 and 2:23-2:28 were the same frames from Peter Pan.

  • hmmm...Goliath keeps changing in size. At some points he's as small as a bug, and at others he's about the size of a normal baby elephant.

  • Disney is best known for recycling old animation for a lot of their works. Which isn't a bad thing.

  • A lot of the scences from the other movies were salvaged to make this cartoon.

  • moth eaten old pole cat lol

  • wow...they sure did reuse alot of animation :)

  • almost like rescue old animations. (After all, just because it's been used before doesn't mean it has to be wasted.)

  • true :) not many animators reuse their old animation.

  • Yea that mouse was a jerk! WTG Goliath!

  • that mouse was such a BULLY!!

YAY Goliath II for being so BRAVE!! ^_^

  • In this movie we find diferent parts from

    other movies! But it's sweet!

  • Love this cartoon!

  • 3:38-3:40. Wasn't that mouse footage recycled from "Dumbo"? The part when the mouse makes faces at those elephants.

  • Yeah, and wasn't the scene were the elephants crash taken from the jungle book?

  • Actually, i think this came first though.

  • No it isnt. It is the same scene but in jungle book it is redrawed (or at last i see differences).

  • Seems like it's the same format. ^_^ Also, the bird in the nest gathering her eggs is the same animation sequence as in Alice in Wonderland. ^_^

  • i remember seeing this in florida when i was really little i never noticed that alot of it is clips from other disney movies like the alligator from peter pan :O lol

  • if you want to see who the narrator is imagine that Pooh is telling the story.

  • Kurt Cobain used to Watch this

  • I remember seeing this a long, long time ago, but I'd forgotten the title of this cartoon.

    Thanks for posting it!

  • This cartoon definately reused alot of previous footage, designs, voices (Sterling Holloway in this case) and soundtracks, and then later on, Jungle Book used some footage from this cartoon and Sterling Holloway

  • I was thinking exactly the same thing. It's like they took a bunch of footage and compiled it into one whole new cartoon.
