  • I say they should of bought the calf and saved it!

  • I understand the need to eat, but I rather a cow have a painless kill. Also they do not

deserve to be abused like this.

  • it ain't the Actions fault for having the poor animals its the raisers fault.

  • Alot of this has to do with the owner bringing these animals in not just the livestock auctions. It is illegal in Canada to haul animals in this state into the market. I personally work at a livestock auction and animals like this get dealt with right away. I have alot of compassion for the animals I deal with at the market on a daily basis I don't like seeing them suffer. If we have a rancher bring in a animal in this state we'll load it back into the trailer and send the rancher back home.

  • i come from a farming family and i am absolutly apauled by this

  • i come from a farming family and i am absolutly apalled by this

  • WOW! Are you kidding me all you people who believe this CRAP are idiots. none of this is even close to the truth. Yes of course that calf couldn't walk could you walk when you were first born either? They are feeding you full of lies! If you want the truth call a local farmer and ask for a tour of the farm or ranch and find the real truth or talk to a animal science department at a area college. HSUS is full of lies and misleading information

  • @parksfamily1000 you are disgusting! the calf died after that! who are YOU to say the HSUS is full of lies?? i did not see you on the scene giving any care to these animals. pathetic really.

  • cows are my absoulute favorite animal and this is just sad):

  • ther oters not normol a sine of bad milking havy ceamecol use and pore milk grad

  • This is reprehensible and MUST STOP!

    Be Blessed! Stay Blessed!

    Peace, Love and Light ;-)

  • what I wanna know is what is causing all these downer cows?

  • @Crystalwolf78

there are many causes for lameness in cows, especially dairy cows. years of living on concrete floors, poor genetics, and incorrect leg conformation. in large animals, such as dairy cows, the wear and stress put on their legs often causes them to go "lame" as they age.

  • ohh:(

  • they couldnt do anything, cuz it was an auction. its just terrible how they took care of those cows.

  • Holy Cow!

  • sadly if they didn't film this, they would have no proof as to what's going on

  • That's why I becoming vegetarian. Believe I used to eat meat everyday. Today I don't miss it all. We all can do it. and is plenty of nutrients in other foods. I have many friends that are for more than 7 years and have a good health.

  • Why doesn't the HSUS help those cows, in stead of filming it?!

  • i agree..instead of wasting hours filming they could of been helping them...they could of also helped the new born calf instead of filming it til itz death..

  • @superwoutos

Because they need evidence in their investigations, in order to stop these indifferent , abusive people. HSUS is all about action, but without evidence, it's a basic "he said, she said".

  • @superwoutos great point

  • @superwoutos Great point..but at some places its illegal to trespass and mess with the animals. i agree with you though.

  • @superwoutos they probably did help those cows. they just wanted to get it on film to expose the cruelty of these animals.

  • This is ridiculous!!

  • Stop the insanity!Get into the livestock industry NOW by doing a media invasion of the 9 over 9 cattle ranch in Morrill county Nebraska. They only have 76 living cows out of the 500 they claimed to have in fall.Use Dr. Furman a member of the Cattlemens Association,Nebraska Cattlemen Association, and R-Calf.Sheriff Eden got one award from HSUS,he needs a bigger trophy along with Jean Rhodes for putting a stop to independant ranchers by bringing HSUS in.Those poor old cows are eating black moldy hay

  • this is jsut cruel a baby calf to weak to get up dies and they can just provide blankets and food and water, is it actully that hard?? id it so hard to give them some love, food and water?? one of the most simpliest things they need, and they're just to lazy to provide that?

why not just be a bum then? they dont give a damn about anything anyways!!!

  • if i ever meet someone working in the meat industry i will punch them in the face.

  • I'll eat yours !!!

  • I really don't see why they find the need to keep them in these conditions. Sure we need meat yes, but why torture them like this? For one, neglecting to feed them means less meat, meaning poorer meat. For two, this is just cruel in general, after seeing this it makes me think twice about eating meat again, thinking about what that cow had gone through.

  • Wow, this is why I'm vegan and healthy. How pathetic and horrible people are.

"Human consumation" indeed. Did the brainiac below mean consummation, as in "make (a marriage or relationship) complete by having sexual intercourse"? Or consumption, as in cramming meat/dairy down your gullet?

Either way, no thanks...I love & respect life, especially my own.

  • trouble is farmers r selling them 4 a reason those cows that dont wana get up did after all walk on the truck to get them ther then they go down what happens next?? thers people every were as it turns out with camcorders what do u do just pick them up and toss them in a crate? pull out a gun and shoot them in front of every1? pick them up with a tractor with meet hooks?with big pools of blood i can here the fegan freaks at just the thought of any of the above comments.

  • this cow Is ganna feed 100 people at leats!

  • For all the peole watching this video, remember this animals are under a lot of stress and their bodies are releasing toxins every minute of agony, eating this toxins will contribute to your own body deterioration and nerves break down, remember the next time you eat a piece of steak it might be that cow on the screen 'cause it's perfectly legals to eat this cows in pain.

Then we wonder Hey! I got a lump in my balls and in my breast and I don't even have children how can that be? I need prozac!

  • if nobody will take care of them.. why dont u drag ur city ass out there and help it get up! fyi all those "downers" were dairy cattle which means there is little chance they would be processed for human consumation

  • why dont they kill the downers imediately and sell the meat?

  • they cant sell it for human consumption USDA law

  • Is it just becaus the cows are too weak to stand? What cripples them exactly from getting on their feet?

  • I too would like a bautiful farm

  • i mean geez i'm not a vegetarian but if ur gonna slaughter animals for food do it humanley and don't beat them about till half dead kill them fast and painlessly

  • ABSOOLUTELY!!!

  • @ilovehobb

It's just those evil, inhumane people who enjoy making innocent creatures suffer.

  • The auction here drags them to the side until the truck lines start to dwindle then shoot them....

  • most of these cows are dairy cows they are probally need a cacium injection,,they be up in no time they put too much into milk

  • Im sorry but this video is simply showing poor management. This is NOT a representation of the Beef Industry or Auction markets. I work at a sale barn and this type of occurance is not an every day thing like this video suggests. At my barn if this ever happens we do everything we can to either assist the animal or we euthanize the animal humanly and have it disposed of properly. I am not for animal neglect at all but some things just happen and we cannot save every animal that goes down.

  • thank you for doing what you can :)

  • all of you guys are bitching about this and saying that it needs to stop but i bet all of you eat beef so you guys are supporting this so ether stop eating beef or shut up

  • i support that downer legislation and i've been vegan for four years, why are you even saying shit like that? any animal left to languish should either be treated or humanely put down, no matter what species.

  • Excuse me? I don't eat meat, and what you are saying is rude an stupid, not to be rude or anything. So next time you speak, think. People might actually like you. (It's a miracle!)

  • Yeah thats all we need is more goverment control, I say keep the goverment off the farm.

  • Dont put the blame 100% on the auction barn. Farmers shouldnt send cattle to sales when they are that far gone. If a cow gets that bad I dont ship her to auction I put a bullet in her head. Its the best way to put them down.

  • Yes Animal treatment at auction barns is not the best sometimes quite horrible i have first hand seen it from kids being allowed to play in a saudust pile while a dead cow was hidden beneath to seeing a downer cow laying at the loading ramp for hours yes this may seem inhumane and i'm not saying that it is humane but honestly maybe it isn't the auctions fault maybe stupid cattle owners shouldn't bring downer cows and day old calves to the auction there are other places 4 that like AT HOME

  • I work in in a livestock market in the UK and this would never happen.

I dont think however that this justifies becoming a vegitarian. If it wasn't for farmers who breed, feed, and treat any illnesses in these animals then how many could survive???

  • they're breeding them for profit, not to propagate the species out of the goodness of their hearts. the lives most of those animals lead are nothing but misery, and it would do for us to cut back on cramming our planet with animals that we only raise to kill.

  • I'm a dairy employee and a producer/employee in the beef industry as well. I find your statement offensive. 1: the number of animals on beef and dairy farms throughout the country is falling while production rises. 2: we are NOT in the industry because we love to torture animals. It is in our best interest to make the life of our animals as comfortable as possible because that increases profitability (what little we have anymore).

  • If I had a farm and lived in the USA, I would rescue these animals and let them live out the rest of their lives free from harm, and happy ~

  • if, if , if.

  • says someone who does nothing either.

  • More and more of these investigations are hitting the mainstream and it is about time. It is so sickening that words can't possibly express how I feel.

  • hahahah u r f ed up she needs a bullet. you would go broke in a heart beat

  • That's not very logical.

No "farm" in the U.S. has space for every one of the millions of the farm animals.

  • yea real smart idea.and then within a week you would realise you have no money to feed them all and they would al die of starvation then you suffering from all the financial debt and stress would commit suicide.you hippies need to wake up of course there needs to be profit made from them for there own good and the good of the farmers

  • This is so very wrong ... how can anyone leave a poor defenceless animal like that. Thank goodness for the many excellent animal charities.

  • That's disgusting that those cows are left in that state! Why can't they just quickly and humanely put them down and end their suffering?

  • cows have rights

  • I cant understand this world!

  • Thank you, HSUS, for your tireless effort to get animal protection laws passed for "downers"!

Get political for the animals, friends!

  • Thats horrible!

  • keep up the good work in exposing this cruel practice

  • HSUS Please keep these undercover investigations going. This is just sickening.

  • I am suprised and shocked that this could happen in America, in the Uk vets are present at auctions and abbatoirs to monitor the welfare of animals, maybe the US should adopt this practice.

  • chavspotter, Vets are at auctions in tha U.S. on sale day also. But if a cow is sent to auction in that kinda shape there isnt much a vet can do. The cows should just be shot in the head.

  • The guilty parties are the governments that allow this ,by not having adequate laws to protect animals. Animal cruelty support from the very top. Sickening.

  • And one more thing: I'd hate to have to defend the human race come Judgement Day when shown evidence like this on our stewardship of Planet Earth and our fellow creatures. I think we've done a pretty piss-poor job of managing nonhuman animals, imprisoning, torturing and eating them and using them for mindless entertainment instead of treating them with the dignity and compassion they deserve. And that's not even counting the other things we've done to trash our planet. Shame on all of us.

  • EXCELLENT journeyman :)

  • animals have conscience just like us

it is just in a different biological computer

when they are in pain they scream

when we are in pain we scream

  • We need no more industries in live beings

  • The shocking video !!! Poor cows !!!

    Thanks for share CodeGeronimo !!!

  • This is horrible,very sad.

  • We need no more industries in live beings that is what you need to say.

It always gets out of hand and one way or the other humans keep on putting themselves above all other creatures on this planet while we should coexist with them.

Animals and industry are two separate words that never must meet each other.

It should be called for what it is: SLAVERY!

  • Sad. If I had a farm, and lived in the USA, I would rescue these animals and bring them to my farm ~

  • the fact is the hsus helped put in stops for safety of food to make sure that downers were not slaughtered and consumed, that governmental body has now been found to have watched as downers were slaughtered and when a report of a downer comes in they hardly ever investagate the report. in 2006 there was 350 downers found to be reported and two were looked into. so downer laws will never come and or never enforced

  • ATROCIOUS !

Rodeos are no better either !

  • watch

seal Hunt 2008 Open Your Eyes

  • There is such thing as humane and alot of companies are demanding their meat suppliers to comply with a more humane method of raising and killing their animals.

  • bigtinie its because of your kind of thinking that this happens. If you love to eat meat fine thats your business but these animals suffer everyday. they are treated like pieces of trash and not living and breathing beings that have feelings just like we do. they should atleast be treated with some dignity and respect because after all they ARE dying for YOU.

  • ok its sad relly sad bud regardless there is no humane way 2 kill cows we love meat its bomb and all the slaugther houses out there either just cut their trougth or stave them some where and thats all going 2 our food markets so wheter we like it or not their is no such thing as humain...

  • But there is such a thing as proper grammar. And there are more humane ways to kill animals. I don't like it but, there are more humane ways.

  • actually there is humane way to kill the animals. I worked on a dairy farm for a while and when we had a downer they where taken care of. we had a hospital pen where we would take them and try to nurse them back to health. If they where to sick to be saved we would have a vet come in and put them down. Not to be sold at auction to the highest bidder to put bad meat on the tables of children.

  • ok first of all this is a verry small minority of ppl that those this to there cows you dont see that in canada cuz there are LAWS and no problem to kill the animal all u need is a gun and not give a shit about the animal..

  • Wayne..Thank you for your efforts in passing a legislature to end this cruel practice.

These heartwrentching images will haunt me for a long time..;'(

Please continue sending inspectors to all those public auctions.

Let us know when you a petition needs to be signs.

  • You can always find an action link in the descriptions of our videos. :)

  • This is so horrible, not only because of the heinous abuse and neglect, but also because that downing can be a sign of mad cow. It is illegal to have cows up for auction like this.

  • sad sad state of affairs when people show thier evil ways. where did compassion go?

  • sad but true..and theres not a damn thing anyone can do. they dont care..should be considered crulety regardless for auction or not. im an animal lover..but not a vegatarian. i dont support this kinda treatment on these animals. poor things left for dead. and its happening all over in farms everywhere. bann animal auctions, ban puppy mills, ban ciruses, ban it all! no more needless suffering. by banning horse slaughter in the USA is a step in the right direction, still goes on in mexico.

  • It all starts out with the industrialization of animals wich is a result of meateating so take yr responsibility please start step over on biological meat or step of it totally like I did .

I grew up as a meateater but stopped cause I saw the unimaginable evil in it.

  • the dark side is strong with them!!

  • Heh, heh, good one, Mozart2419.

  • omg i'll kill the owner

i wanna take care of them ,if i can i'll .

    sned me to us :/

    humane is horrible

  • Signing for sure!

All this abuse makes me so sad :'(

Oh humanity.. there's nothing HUMANE about you.

  • I hope everyone who thinks this is wrong is a vegetarian like me. Stuff like this happens all the time in slaughter houses but no one really cares. They just stick another hamburger in their mouth and call it good.

  • This is heartbreaking, how can people forget these cows, now they lay in the burning sun, no water, nothing. This is cruel!!

  • This is so sad. i mean i still can not understand how some one can just pass a half dead animal and not even think twice about it. ANIMALS ARE JUST AS IMPORTANT AS HUMANS!!! i wanna go vegetarian to help this kinda stuff stop but my mom wont let me :( some day when im older i will... i also wanna work for HSUS or PETA. these ppl r AWESOME to try and stop this horrible things!!! you go guys!! keep up the GREAT work :)

-- 14 year old animal lover!!!

  • (sharpieluv93)I'm also an HSUS supporter and 14, but I wouldn't suggest PETA. They're against all containment of animals, even pets. As much as it's a good idea, we've done our part is breeding these animals to the state they are in. We have to live with our mistakes and take care of them. PETA is known for taking animals out of shelters and just euthanizing them, animals that could find homes. Though the idea of animals living free of human

  • (part two of my comment, I went over the chracter count limit) ownership and containment sound good, it can't be done at this point. Thats why I really like HSUS, they work to keep animals safe in homes and out. Keep up the good work!

  • Thank you Wayne, for caring about ALL animals.

  • Its all money they don't care about the animal or us...just money...one day a disease is going to break out and there is not going to be a cure for it. The human race will be in trouble. I have hight respect for the Humane Society I am a member...I donate my money so this does not happen. This should be on the news, TV, fox news

  • yes diane18944 the humaine race will be breaked down by a disease and they will be no cure its coming soon we are to many ppl on the planet for the amount of food\place and in term of nutrients just think it takes so mutch feilds just to feed some cows and we could feed humains with that spaces but we need it and towns are only getting bigger so yes its gonna be coming soon in the next 100 years some special estimates(there are no facts) i think we should think about that..

  • People from the FDA and Human Society must be at all auction places....this is not only the animal suffering but people eat this meat and the disease animal can give disease to people. There must be camera's in all auctions and video camera's in slaughter houses. One time humane society was always at the slaughter houses and auction. Good informative vide. You be surprised how many people have no idea what goes on.

  • The USDA should be ashamed at their lack of concern for this persistent abuse. Horrible.

  • I truly hope everybody involved in the suffering of those poor cows is subjected to the same exact treatment I truly hope when it is their time to go they suffer immensly

  • Secretary Schafer, the abuse factory-farmed animals suffer is despicable. End this disgusting treatment and pass meaningful protections for animals in this industry!

Petition signed! Thank you HSUS for all you do for the animals.

    citydog

  • that is so sad it is just horible the way they treat these animals. people should understand thet animals think, feel and suffer like us PLEASE STOP THIS

  • These HSUS probably ate Big Mac for lunch after investigation... and didn't think for a second... :-]

  • You are so wrong about that. What a cruel and heartless thing to say.

  • Not such an esoteric answer.

  • i like how u think most of the animals that are at those auctions are gonna end up in a slaughter house thats why we take them. so dont hate me cause of it those are my beliefs and etc. i farm and i take my cows to the auctions so like i said dont hate me or send me offensive emails and things thanks.

  • thats just wrong i don't see how a human with a brain just like us (well not really) can do this?
