There has been no equal before or since, but if you just like to fly around, google for "Schweiger Orbiter" and have fun. On the mission with the carrier, it took me four takes. "This damn thing _must_ have a docking port somewhere!!" and I was scraping my UDS all over the mother's hull until finally, the cinematic played showing Dreadnaught crashing into the hanger (6:50) I fell out of my chair laughing.
This game and its successor can be purchased at gog dot com now. I've done so and now enjoy both parts again...
