Moai stage in this game is the hardest Moai stage I have encountered in a Gradius game (even more so than 3). I'm always forced to the right of the screen hoping and praying to make it through a hailstorm of enemy rings and whatever ships decide to fly by and have a goodbye parting bullet. This Moai stage despite being wide open feels very claustrophobic because the more powerful Hornet hardware allowed the Moai to shoot more and faster rings. :)
Wow, I can't believe you recovered on the Moai stage. G4, like G3, they made too difficult. So much that I just don't find it fun, which sucks because there are some really cool levels.
This game is weird. I've completed it on Easiest on PSP collection, and weirdly, even the game is going full speed and showering me with all kinds of hard attacks, I managed to survive throughout the game... Yet I can't complete Gradius 2 on Easy!
Though, I can only complete this on Easiest: On easy, I can't get past the cell stage boss. =/
It looked like you improvised some of your route in the Moai stage, darting up a couple screen scrolls and such. Once you decide on a route and memorize it, your survival rate will go up a bit. I think it's necessary.
Personally I don't use that many speedups because I play with a stick. Good call on not getting the 4th option till that point, too. I just worry because the extra firepower helps against the bubbles earlier on.
Nice recovery on the Moai section. This game looks okay, but I think I'm starting to see why people didn't like it as much as the other Gradius games. It has many derivatives.
2:28 That move right there was pro! :U

Would the spreadbombs have made a difference against the moai heads?
Gotta give you all sorts of credit for making it through all those rings.

Because StarFox 64 is always fun XD. But even Fox didn't fly into a lava tunnel XP.

I'm glad they put instant respawn in G5.
