  • No V.T's. All were HM boys and girls. Sadly all have now gone on to pastures new and their old Daddy spends his time sitting in the plants watching a young male through the partition. He suddenly came over old about a month ago and doesn't swim about much anymore. Eats like a horse still, bless him.

  • o:18 - 0:20

    nice veiltail female

  • Nice vid when yostarted out what size tank did u use to bread the bettas and who do u tell if the bettas gender and can the fry grow up in the same tank (mixed genders) or do you have to serperate them?

  • To start with I used a 20g spawning tank, which doubled as the fry grow-out tank. The chosen pair were added to that tank. I found this unsatisfactory as several males became depressed at being moved after a spawn. Now I spwn in the males home tank (approx 7g apiece) and move the youngsters out about 4-6 weeks later. The boys have longer finnage and a tell tale 'beard' around their gills. Girls have a small white dot called an oviposter next to their anus and have a straighter, deeper bodyshape.

  • thanks very much

  • Sadly the video I took earlier was slightly too big to put up on here. This one doesn't show you much. I'll have another go.
