  • you don't palpate the abdomen first... You listen to the abdomen.

  • nice! but tattoos dun indicate hep c! just mite be the cause of hep c :)

  • what exactly is this video fo? i think u said it in the beginning, but i couldn't really understand what u said...

  • why camera man is so far away?

  • Tummy x3

  • Lol "sometimes people have tattoos, that could indicate Hepatitis C"

  • Inspection, Auscultation, Percussion, Palpation - Apparently the logic is that if you palpate before you auscultate you may stimulate bowel sounds that will affect your assessment of the pats motility.

  • did the patient have two odd socks on??

  • @Wilson211990 this is the most important question I have seen on any medical video on youtube

  • if everyone so smart, why are you not in the video? losers

  • You are supposed to auscultate first!

  • @tinjmail never heard such statement

  • As an adult male, I think I would be very uncomfortable with a male doctor who wanted to examine my 'tummy'. Kids have tummies. Adults do not.

  • rkd369...ur right....dumb doc

  • rkd369...ur right....dumb doc

  • Is it just me or can anybody else hear students whispering and muttering?

  • sams got odd socks on.....muppet

  • ur supposed to auscultate bowel sounds before palpation and percussion because it distorts the sounds

  • @rkd369 never heard such statement

  • Tattoos can indicate Hep C? how about risk for Hep C exposure

  • no flapping hand test....

  • Haha he's wearing two different colored socks.

  • very nice

  • Doc appears to be ?tired/?depressed .Anyhow good exam cheers

  • "that's great, well done!" i also wanna get praised for coughing.... ;)

  • hate to play the nerd but excellent user name. gambit's my dude

  • What did he say his name is?

  • @dravensvision I've tried to make it out but he mutters it too fast.

  • This doctor is kind of cute. Can he be my doctor and plus i love his accent:)

  • there's something wrong with the positioning.

  • Have you noticed the non matching socks of the pt ? I was taught to kneel to be at the level of pt in abdominal examination when palpating the abdomen !

  • @ayshah2002 the reason why some are taught to kneel is b/c there's a risk of pushing down too hard on the abdomen if one is standing. however if you control the strength of the palpation there's no difference. of course you can argue about pt comfort and all that...

  • very heavy percussion

shouldn't it be light except the upper border of liver ???

  • Nicely done, thanks from a medstud from germany preparing for the OSCE examination.

The inspectation was perfect and very thoughtful

    Just some points of discussion:

1.Insp: mentioning the Caput Medusa sign, hairloss due to hormon disorder, bulging due to meteorism and Scars!!

2.Auscultation and Perkussion before Palpation due to false stimulation of bowel movement.

    3.Palpation: Appendicites signs (McBurney, Lanz)

Liver should be 10cm whithin Medioclavicular line (MCL)

    Respectfully yours

  • Is there another vid to cover the end part he was saying?

  • Is it really that hard to listen before you feel? Seriously, it takes the same amount of time and it generally a better option, because there is always the unknown.

  • Paid a malu cachu y twpsyn fach drewllyd.

  • so what?

  • tu culito jijijijij

  • RemmeLeBeau ow i get Gambit cool

  • The examination is in the correct order for how British undergraduate and postgraduate candidates are assessed.

Auscultation should only come before palpation if the history is suggestive of bowel obstruction, assumed not to be the case in this context.

  • correct order is Look, Listen, Feel

  • what did the doctor say his name was, he kind of mumbled it

  • he may have made many mistakes but he had very good percussion technique. i could hear the resonance and dullness clearly.

  • he should have knelt down while palpating the nine regions.

  • Should have Auscultated before palpation, because latter maneuvers may alter the frequency of bowel sounds

  • thanx

  • ahhhhh

  • what to do if the patient is massively obese?

  • liposuction

  • Didn't wash his hands at the start - that's going to cost you in the OSCE lol

  • haha his accent is great

  • pansy

  • What kind of doctor does this?

  • love the toilet flush at 5:05! ha!

  • lol. i love laughing at silly little things like that. im so childish but i freaking love it. i dont see the point of going through life being serious all the time

  • He wears 2 different socks :-)

  • well he has two different feet

  • yeah but he has ten differant toes!!!!!!!

  • haha!

  • you're right that's what they told us at nursing schoo too. auscultate first before palpate

  • the one thought to me is Palpation after inspection..

  • Lol, how hard do you palpate?? You're not going to stop peristalsis from superficial or deep palpation... unless your hands are made of opiates... which would be pretty cool!

  • I know its a bit off topic but his socks do not match.

Other then that (lol) Its a good video.

  • Beautifully executed, not a second less or more than necessary.thank you -great help!

  • really helpful video!!thanks

  • ottimo video di spiegazioni
