@MollyMan81 It's because they are only strength three and their power weapons are largely useless against a Res Orb only wounding on a 5+ or they can be engaged by the very, very fast Necron choices like wraiths with 3+ invulnerable or scarab swarms (three wounds) to waste their points cost. Fire Dragons and Rangers are better choices.

Against this list I probably woulda used WW, doom and guide to kill those destroyers first turn. That is if you didnt have your lord there XD I DEF woulda wanted them dead first. I build a list I am happy with at 1800 points. Its got 4 wave serpents, 2 fire prisms,and 3 war walkers :) so lots of armour. And I think its a decent weapon load out 4 Eldar ML, 4 Scatter Lasers, 2 Brightlances, and the two prism cannons :) and 2 Farseers. Proly gonna be next year before I use it tho : /

Being fairly new to the game I had a hard time of knowing what was going on. More detail on moves\strat would be nice. Camera was too fast and shaky. It was good to see what units people where using though. Its all fun in the end. ha.

Right i've got whats confirmed for Necrons for you now. This is all the information my local manager told me but he said there was going to be some 'suprises'.

- Flayed Ones changing to Troop (plastic)

- Immortals changed to plastic

- Pariahs changed to plastic

- New Lord choices

- Jetbike models are being updated.

- Monolith is going up in points.

- C'tans are moving to Apocalypse only.

That's all the definates I got, but he implied that there would be at least one new unit entirely.

In this edition its much harder, you cant destroy a vehicle with a glance hit and the ld test after cc phase are a killer to the necros who just cant return any wounds, and thier best units arent necrons:/

lol ya my buddy lox plays necrons and i play Eldar. first of i love the eldar they are a great army. i dont mind fighting the necrons but they are always a worry to me. i know i can beat them its just a matter of how well i can, the will be back can be nigated by an AP 2 starcannon but the rez orb is the counter for that, my dark reapers are the best way i think to make necrons faze a little sooner... but the res orb is always rite there to shoot me in the foot, necrons are amazing ill admit it

i was in a team battle:

Ultramarines (me) and Black Templars  VS

Eldar and Imperial Guard

I faught off the guardsmen by cutting down the heavy guns and blasting away the infantry, but thr Templars moved straight into the Eldars Avatar and Tanks! They got blown to bits by the Eldar and my army was already halfed by the Guard and i had to face all of the Eldar as well, luckely it was objectives and my tacticals ran towards the objectives and secured the Victory.

ya this is a pretty sad looking list, this isnt realy even the way to fight Necrons with eldar. what you really want to do is make your army a close combat army and take the necrons in the close combat game, they cant really do alot of damage to you then... just be careful of the war sycth lol

I've got like 1200 points of nids- all warriors and genestealers with a lictor. I had plans to buidl them up to 1750 and play them, but never really got past that since the army & fluff really doesn't do it for me. That said, I've played agasint some pretty competitive builds both with template warrior spam and nidzilla backed by genestealers.

Thanks man! Necrons really aren't "competitive" anymore- GW needs to update phase out and not being fearless + lack of pwoer weapons, transport, and AP 1 / melta weapons means you 100% have to be ontop of your tactics and make few mistakes. That said, they do have a few nasty tricks and are fun to play. I post every game a play with them, so we'll see how I do over time. Only good part is that most cats see you pull out necrons and think they are facing a n00b and them BAM!
