  • how u add all movie covers

  • super Mario Yeah!!!

  • Download "Media Browser" (plugin for WMC) and then "Media Center Master" do get all covers, information about the actors etc for all your movies. Works gr8 for me :D

  • I notice when you click on that icon on the taskbar, a list appears. Is that a feature in windows 7 or a third-party software?

  • @browzer201

It is a third party software called 7Stacks. Very customizable, and works great.

  • hello my name is joseph and i also have a very larg movie list on my hard drives and i found that the best one is the XBMC it does it all even tv shows and covers for music too and you can look up movies by year actor or what ever action comady even hd movies as well trust me i have bouth media center and xbmc and Xbmc it way way better

  • @TheSandoval007

XBMC has some great features, and I do have it installed on my HTPC, but this MyMovies Plugin for for Media Center is still better in my opinion for movies. It looks visually a lot better now with some of the most recent updates, and is a lot more stable than XMBC in my experience, and works better with my Logitech Harmony remote than XMBC does. MyMovies has all the same search options you mentioned as well. XMBC is slick, but MyMovies is still my preferred choice for movies.

  • I have a question about adding movies, why can't I add like the image that goes with the movie like you did? Please help and thank you for your time.

  • @KhmerCharity

You don't manually add the cover art to the movies. You have the use the MyMovies service to find the movie title and download all the meta-data for that movie, including the cover art.

There are some pretty good video tutorials on the MyMoives web site that I suggest checking out.

  • ok i have a big problem and was wondering if you could help me. Ok a few weeks I had to do a system restore on my pc. i reinstalled my movies 3 and i have moviea that i copied to my hard drive. now thing is that my movies is not detecting the movies that are in my hard drive but it keeps on adding new movies that i copy to my HD. CAN YOU HELP ME.

  • @Jeffrey08017

If you are having a duplicate title problem, check out this thread on the MyMovies forum. You may have to register first.

    mymovies(DOT)dk/forum(DOT)aspx?g=posts&t=21464

I did a system wipe, I re-applied the MyMoves Database backup. It showed my original titles, but also added a duplicate for each one that it found on my hard drive. The link above had the solution to my problem. hopefully it will help yo as well. If not, post a question to their forums for help.

  • @MrArmagedd0n thanks

  • Ok this is a little off subject but how do you watch mp4's on windows media centre on the xbox 360? they never show up in my video libary.

  • did u use handbrake to encode them and dvdfab to rip all the protection?

  • @Efire95

I used DVDFab to both remove the protection and encode the video files.

    Video: h.264 @ 1500kbps

    Audio: AC3 5.1 Surround

    Container: .avi

  • @MrArmagedd0n why h.264 @ .avi? it should be .mp4, .m4v or .mkv on h.264. xvid is for .avi.

  • @yopepoy

.avi is simply a container to store video and audio feeds. I choose to use the .avi container because it allows me to maintain the original surround sound 5.1 audio. I don't like to use compressed audio in my movies, especially when it is downmixed into 2 channel stereo. The .mp4 container doesn't allow you to use the AC3 5.1 audio, so I don't use it at all. The .mkv container will house any combination of video / audio codecs, but device compatibility outside of a PC is lacking.

  • @MrArmagedd0n

You don't have to use a specific video codec with a specified container. Its up to the individual to decide how they want to set up their DVD rips. The majority of torrent movies are .mp4 and have crappy compressed MP3 audio with down-mixed 2.0 sound. I don't touch that crap, and that is why set up my rips the way I do.

  • try XBMC

  • @jasonleehogan

I have used XBMC, but I prefer having this Media Center Plug-in over using a 3rd party media playback/library service.

Plus the metadata fetching for XMBC isn't as good (yet) as what I can get with MyMovies. XMBC looks great, but I still prefer the functionality of Media Center and MyMoives working together.

  • hi i download already My Movies 3!but when i log in it says..im not conetted to the internet but i was!!pls help me..

  • I got a problem guys i have put all my blu rays on the pc ! most of them MKV files .... I have these on external HD . Anyway my problem is this ,,,, I dont get any Blu-Ray covers ??? Also it doesnt find some of my movies , jus the name for example it will say 2012 and then no play back time ??? then on one that works it will say Up = play back time 90mins and this one works !

Can someone please help me out as its driven me nuts , i want covers and also for it to play my mkv blu ray files

  • @iJsturgess

I don't think its a problem with MyMovies, but Media Center in general. MKV files are not supported. There are ways to allow MKV files to play with Media Center, but you may still be stuck with My Movies not recognizing them as a valid file type.

    hack7mc(dot)com/2009/01/playing-mkvs-in-media-center(dot)html

MKV is just a container, so you could also try changing/renaming the video file container to .avi and see if that fixes the problem.

  • @MrArmagedd0n : renaming did work....Thanks... by the way which software do you use to rip dvds and blu rays?

  • @raghusainik

I use DVDFab to rip all of my DVDs. It even has a Blu-Ray client, but I use a free program called RipBot264 for my Blu-rays.

DVDFab is a great program, and has tons of options.

  • does it work with MKV files? if not FAIL

  • @goodfellalee87

Don't know, never had a reason to try with an MKV. I use standard .avi containers for all my DVD rips. MKV is a great, but its limited support on mobile devices keeps me from using it as my primary container.

Most MKV files I do get ahold of, I just change the container to .avi using MKV2VOB. Either way, the MyMovies software is great, hardly a "fail" as you so eloquently put it.

  • @MrArmagedd0n all blu ray rips are mkv files too much of a pain to convert dozens of 4.27-8gb files you much have one fast machine! i downloaded my movies 2 for mce 2005 what server is it asking for on loadup?

  • @goodfellalee87

MKV2VOB doesn't "convert" the mkv files, it just separates the video and audio steams, then puts them back together in an .avi file. The whole process takes 3-5min.

MyMovies version 2 wasn't that great. I didn't really like using the program until the v3 update.

You have to register the program, so that your DVD collection is tied to your personal database and user points. Maybe it is asking for your reg info?

  • @MrArmagedd0n 3-5mins! hmm thanks for the info will give it a try. i cant use mymovies 3 with mce 2005 gonna have to upgrade :\

  • This is a great video! Thanks. Do you have step-by-step video on populating media center? I want to add over 600 movies and cds with all cover art and info in a very nice streamlined system. Will this work if I purchase a few tb harddrives?

  • @thefirstday09

I don't have a video that explains the process. I just use DVDFab to rip my DVDs and Blu-Ray movies onto my HDD, and watch them from the MyMovies interface in Media Center.

  • My ripped DVD'S have no cover art?

  • @Haruhide86

You have to utilize the MyMovies Collection Management Interface to monitor the folder that you add your DVD rips to. Once it know where to look, it will download the cover art for the movies it finds.

  • great video, Im interested in ripping my entire dvd and Blu ray collection and moving it into WMC. what software do you recommend for ripping dvd's and what software do you recommend for ripping blu rays. Ive had a problem finding something to rip a blu ray. please help........... thanks

  • @ghostofwar1892

DVDFab is what I use to rip my DVDs. I also use DVDFab HD Decrypter to decrypt the Blu-Ray files, and transfer them to my HDD, then I use RipBot264 to convert those files into a format watchable with the MyMovies WMC plug-in.

  • very nice, but I have a question: In what format do you rip your Dvd's?

  • what do you use to download box art? Have you tried "Yammm"? its proper good, it runs as a windows service and renames your movies and downloads meta & boxart automatically :-)

  • @traida111

The MyMovies program automatically downloads cover art for the movies in your collection.

  • how do you get the points my movies to be able to copy or rip or burn a movie to your collection, everytime i try and rip a movie it says i need more points

  • You get points by contributing the the DVD/Blu-Ray title info (actors, movie covers, etc) via their database management program, or by donating funds to the project via PayPal.

  • what software do you use to mount your .ISO so can play, im using that Virtual Clonedrive and it takes for ever for it to mount the iso and play.

  • I don't mount .ISO images. All of my movies are DVD / Blu-Ray rips stored locally on the HDD of my HTPC.

  • will this program allow you to play .m2ts files from blu-ray rips? So far I have not found a way to get Media Center to play these files.

  • @eodoc

MyMovies doesn't introduce any additional codec support for additional video formats. It will play image files and any other media file that you can typically play in Media Center. If it can't play in Media Center, it won't play in MyMovies.

  • Very nice for sure. I got a little (over) excited when I saw you play the blu-ray Braveheart. I then see that you are converting them into compressed formats. I really don't understand why PowerDVD won't launch blu-ray from Hard drives (piracy, but it still sucks). I have a TON of things converted into .mkv but prefer to have the full quality of certain films.

I really prefer Theatertek with custom graphs for most of my movie playing. Can you still have My movies use an external player?

  • Ya, I would like to be able to play the Blu-Ray ISOs from my Hard Drive, but I don't have the space for all my Blu-Ray movies to be stored uncompressed. My Blu-Ray rips are still very good quality, and if I want to watch it uncompressed I just throw in the Blu-Ray disc.

Yes, my movies can be used with an external player, or even a network drive. It doens't have flash themes or graphics, but I have yet to find a software that does a better job with collection management.

  • It is the closest thing to Kalidescope (in terms of appearence) so far. It looks REALLY nice! I DO have the space but...how would I do that with ISO's?

Currently, most of my favorite movies in Blu format are AVC (in .m2ts) so I usually strip out extra's and just have Theatertek play them. I would love to have Powerdvd play an iso though. Can it be done? Where they would be stored and launched automatically?

    Thanks in advance!

  • If you like this, then try xbmc on for size.... Music, TV-Shows etc.... especially cool with aeon or transparency skin!

  • I have used XMBC in the past, and do like to look of it a bit more, but the Content Management side of My Movies is the reason that I use it over XBMC.

I wish they would make an interface that had the content management of My Movies, with the slick look of some of the XBMC themes.

  • Can this work for tv shows too?

  • If they are DVD ISO images from a Season of a TV show, then I think it will. As long as it has a DVD bar-code to look up, it will work with it.

  • how do you get all those movies because I have widows media center I dont know how to use it

  • The My Movies software is a movie management tool. You have to supply the movies, it just helps you organize and view them in a way that is easy to do from a media center remote.

  • have you ever downloaded movies from windows media center if so do they playback at full screen in HD quality and for your movies did it take you a long time to upload them and what about video files on your hard drive like divx, xvid, axxo, dvdrip can this software get the movie art for them with this software

  • All of the movies I have are ones that I converted from DVDs I own to digital formats using XviD, and DivX codecs, in a .avi container.

My Blu-Ray movies are ripped using H.264 codec, and are converted into HD 720p .avi files with DTS Sourround Sound.

All the files are played from the Hard Drive, and as long as you tell the My Movies software where to look, it will add the DVD Cover Art to your files.

  • how did you back-up your Blu-ray's? ISO's? And MCE 7 with mymovies plays backed-up blu-ray's without using any third party apps?

  • I used AnyDVD HD to decrypt the Blu-Ray and transfer the files to my Hard Drive, then used RibBot 264 to convert them into a single HD 720p .mkv or .avi file, with DTS Sourround Sound.

Once you have that file created, "My Movies" can play it right inside of Media Center.

  • how many hdd u have

  • The HTPC has 3 HDDs total, but all of my Movies are on a single 2TB HDD.

  • i have a 500gb hdd, and i have 3 slots left for another hard drives, if i buy 3 more 500 hdd, i can reach up to 2tb

  • I just wish I had all your dang movies....

  • AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGG! ;)
