"Please Let Me Wonder" has unbelievable harmonies as well. The blend of all of their voices was magical, and Brian's soaring high notes simply put them over the top.
Simply put, one of the finest vocals ever--EVER, recorded, with harmonies from angels. Summer of '64, I was 17 y/o, going on 18, & lived to hear this on the radio. Boss Radio 950, KIMN, In Denver. Wolfsky9
@ClubViking63 Sir, " DWB" was written with KHJ DJ, Roger Christian, in early fall of '63, before Dallas, 11/22/63. It was the only song he ever did with Lyrics written 1st, & music made to fit them. " Be My Baby", Spector's Masterwork, was an inspiration, but BW never tried to copy Spector's overwhelming, " Wall Of Sound". The Harmonies are so note perfect--THAT's the true genius--& of course, BW's amazing Falsetto Lead. To this day, nothing has ever compared. Wolfsky9
@Wolfsky9 I agree with you Sir, that the harmonies from Brian are superior than anything from Spectors productions. Only thinking on how about Brian was thinking when he wrote this, as I have heard that he wanted this one as a follow-up to "Be my Baby".
My cousin refused to believe me when I would tell him how good The Beach Boys are. Then we smoked some grass and I showed him "Today!" and "Pet Sounds" and explained to him all of the genius that went into those records (and all of their other records too). Now whenever I see him he asks me, "Have you heard this song? That song? They're so good... etc." HA!
there will never be a time again in history where the beachboys, california dreamin, hotrods, beautiful girls, the burger joints, frosty freeze, dairy queen, sun tan lotion, surfing, cruisen the whole west coast, redwoods northern ca. sunshine, the beach, square dancing, string ray corvettes, mercs, supersports, gtos, model a hotrods, water skiing, camping, togetherness. fun, drag racing. dam ,I miss those days. best times ever!
@jimmyd10100 Sounds like you grew up there too. I remember most of what you list and you are right, it was so, so great. My aunt used to babysit the Beach Boys when they grew up in Hawthorne. I believe California, especially LA is no longer fashionable or desirable to live in-too much anger, lies, etc.
ah makes me want to go cut some waves... a good swell at evening or waiting for the sun to rise paddling my board.... sea salty water on my face.......ahhhhhhhh
=D
sweet song..so sweet ... feels like dancing after a good surfing :)
Boy does this ever bring back memories of when I was 16 and 17 and body surfed in Playa del Rey, CA and hung out with a family of seven sisters who lived a block and a half from the beach. Great days then.
I never get sick of this.

@Wolfsky9 Sir Wolfsky, did not Brian say that he wrote this song for the now, convict P Spector?
Which will not take away Brian´s harmonies, simply just would make them as something to give away?

The Beatles acknowledged the influence of the Beach Boys. You can hear the similarities in harmony. Listen to Nowhere Man.
