  • Rolls Royce + Pratt&Whitney = International Aerospace Engines (IAE)

  • @KPAracing Pratt & Whitney + Rolls Royce + MTU + JAEC = IAE (Fiat used to be a partner as well, hence the "V" for 5...)

  • i want buy one.put my bike

  • what about A321

  • Hhmm...are those engines on that illfated flight 1549 that landed on Hudson ?

  • @pushitgently001p NO - Those where CFM's. EIther way, it was the birds fault - not anything technical with the engines.

  • taking into account the power these engines are to small

  • A321

  • looks like the jets from those pod racer things from the first starwars

  • IAEs is far more advanced than CFMs, and IAEs sound more gentle at full power than CFMs. I Pick IAEs.

  • @raykrislianggi The IAE is the worst engine ive ever worked on, overly complicated and pieced together from loads of companies. The only advantage over the cfm in my my mind is the better MPG and oil consumption.

Here is a question for you! Why does the V2500 take longer to start than the CFM56??

  • o.O looks small

  • CFM's are better

  • @seaboo143 the IAE breaks down more often, the CFM burns more fuel. Pick your poison.

  • As seen at the end of the video, this engine is the powerplant for the MD-90. Delta Air Lines now flies the most MD-90 aircraft.

  • MD-90 or Boeing 717?

  • I am not sure what you are asking, but the Boeing 717 was built with Rolls Royce engines I believe. They are two different aircraft. The Boeing 717 was McDonnell Douglas' swan song. It was originally known as the MD-95. Again, similar airframe leading back to the MD-80 and 90 series, but shorter. It also lost the eyebrow windows in the cockpit. When Boeing acquired McD. they changed the MD-95 name to the Boeing 717.

  • @umsic86 MD-90

  • And I thought you needed all sorts of fancy equipment and processes to build sophisticated turbofans. Turns out all you need is a rachet :-)

  • JHBHJ

  • the airline at 1;03 is eurocypria. from cyprus. a greek cypriot airline

  • Actually, its not only Rolls-Royce, it's simply IAE (International Aero Engines), which is a joint venture between many companies such as Pratt and Whitney, Rolls-Royce, MTU Aero Engines and the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation (which consists of 3 companies). Excellent Vid though!

  • I prefer the IAEs to the CFMs

  • @banstaman Yeah CFMs break all the time...

  • This is a very, very good engine.

  • Not really, its a pig to work on and suffers alot of combustion chamber burning, the only good thing about it is the economy is slightly better than the CFM56 and burns less oil.

  • must admit i find the cfm56 more of a pain than the v2500.

the v25 is better laid out and a much cleaner engine. saying that we only have five cfm's ant htey are old Bcals legacey aircraft. 20years old and still in better knick than any 737 of similar age.

  • Two were scrapped at lasham were they not ?
