Growing tomatoes in your yard doesn't really count, i would say at a maximum 1% of all vegetarians/vegans are self sufficient in terms of food. Perhaps things are different in your particular area, but given that populations in the UK are fairly urbanized i doubt seriously it holds true for the majority there either. Growing tomatoes in your yard doesn't really count, i would say at a maximum 1% of all vegetarians/vegans are self sufficient in terms of food. Perhaps things are different in your particular area, but given that populations in the UK are fairly urbanized i doubt seriously it holds true for the majority there either. Or were you only talking about growing the odd few veggies in your garden? If so, my mistake.

Well speaking as a uk resident who actually knows about the area and country, fads, past times and hobbies,i can say that i am correct, no offense.
Pulling made up statistics about a country you don't know alot about isn't the same as living their your whole life, having friends all over the country and having travelled around the country etc.
With public awareness at an all time high as to food quality, it is no surprise people opt to grow their own where possible tbh

I still very much doubt if your claim applies as the rule rather than the exception, and being raised by trial lawyers i've never put much stock in anecdotal evidence, it's just my way i suppose. Yes but you mention "where possible" which elucidates what you meant. Obviously the amount of people who grow everything they need in their gardens is a small percentage.

Hunger is something us humans can do something about, but choose not to. The bull does not choose to be chased into a ring, poked with spears and finally get chopped up for food. This is not a fair fight and totally uncalled for.
People are omnivores, so it's in our nature to eat meat, BUT the animals we eat should always be treated right and killed humanely.
In ancient time it was also tradition to kill slaves for fun, but we don't do that anymore either, do we??
