I know a lot of people say Donna was the best companion, but I disagree. In my opinion, the list of best companions, from top to bottom, goes Rose, Amy, Martha, then Donna. I love Catherine Tate, but she didn't make a great companion, in my opinion.
@NinjaPotato01 It is not so much that her head would explode. SciFi writers can get around that, but last thing I remember she was getting married and pregnant,so... Don't get me wrong. Donna is my favourite, and I wish she would come back...
I love Donna I wish there had been more seasons with her. She was more than best friends with the Doctor sometimes their relationship was that of a brother and sister.
@ticklemepickle95 You're very welcome! :) (I don't know why I like Donna better than Rose, but I know I like her better than Martha because I never liked how Martha got overly jealous every time the Doctor even looked at another woman.)
@TalulahCarmichael2 Agreed :) but I kinda like martha, the girl couldnt help who she liked, she loved the doctor, and now again you would hear him comparing her to rose and talking about Rose like she was the best thing in the world. Martha liked the doctor, and he never even looked at her, as if he was trying to ignore the fact that she did like him ot whatever. But still, not my fave. Oh yess, Donna Noble all the way!! xD
@ticklemepickle95 Yeah, but it really bugged me when she got all moony over him and upset over that one nurse when he had become a human, and he didn't even know how close he and Martha were usually, she was just a servant to him at that point.
@TalulahCarmichael2 I respect Martha a lot. She saved the world and she was VERY smart. I only blame the writers that they didn't really showed her personality. That really bugged me. I don't think it's right that a lot of people dislike her (though everyone can have their opinion, of course!) because she was jealous lots of times... I always think that people can relate to her because, well, who wouldn't fall in love with the doctor, and after a kiss like that in Smith & Jones?
@ticklemepickle95 No, I think that too. I mean, I did love Rose's relationship with the Doctor and all, but other that that, she kind of got on my nerves. I also think that Donna was the better companion for 10. They have good, non-romantic, chemistry together and I love that. I didn't like Martha that much though...
@AlwaysAPotterhead Exactly! Rose was good, but Donna was just amazing. She didnt need to fall in love with him like the others did. They were just good mates, y'know? Tbh, at the beginning, I kinda disliked martha but watching it all back. I think you can understand why she would get like that.. (it was always when the doctor metioned Rose and always compared them etc) I dont think she was the best companion, but I stil respect her like I do with all the others. Thanks for your input btw!:D
You know these are so much funnier once you take into account that Catherine Tate and David Tennant are playing Beatrice and Benedick (that's how Wikipedia spells it, I know it's probably wrong) in a current run of Much Ado About Nothing. It's like reality was like, "You know what would be funny..."
@DJDizzy113 I think its because Rose and Martha never had that sort of attitude Donna did that made her seem like shed be paired up with The Doctor. Don't get me wrong, I loved Rose and Martha, but Donna's just got that spark like she could stare down a Dalek.
@GoldenAmythest I hate rose. I think she's a selfish bitch. In stolen earth all she was worried about was getting noticed. I struggle to watch the episodes she's in.
I don't think bringing Donna back would be a good idea I don't think her and the new doctor would have that spark that her and David Tennant's doctor did but I would love to get rid of Amy she just is a horrible character
I loved Donna and The Doctor together, but just as friends, not as a couple. They were best friends, almost like brother and sister (in the way they acted, I'm not saying they loked alike). They made such a wonderful team. I did like Doctor/Rose, but I also loved the nonromance side of the show.
@torchwood991 - I don't jump to conclusions, I think things through pretty thoroughly before I make up my mind!! Also, I do listen and I still believe the use of the dimension cannon caused the breakdown of the walls. If you disagree you're entitled to your opinion same as I.
P.S. Although I'm sure you didn't intend the spelling mistake I thought it quite appropriate to refer to it as "demention" as it was quite a "demented" invention!
PS. I blame Rose for what happens to Donna. Did anyone notice that Rose mentions they started testing a dimension cannon & then all the walls came crumbling down? Bloody Rose & her selfishness! She starts the whole mess & then has the nerve to treat the Dr regenerating as a personal insult! I am so glad we are unlikely to ever see her again! Also, is it just me or did the Dr seem more broken up after losing Donna than any of the others? He stays alone & then tears up when he sees Donna in EOT.
@GoldenAmethyst is it just me or did the Dr seem more broken up after losing Donna than any of the others? He stays alone & then tears up when he sees Donna in EOT.
Yeah, I noticed that too.
Understandable; in my book Donna & the Doctor feel like they're soulmates.
Out of all the new companions, Donna is definitely my favourite - she doesn't treat the Dr like a god like Rose & Martha did, instead she treats him as an equal, which is exactly what he needs, she also doesn't take any crap from him & is the first person to ever stand next to the Dr & share his burden (FOP). I love the interaction between them & it was the most beautiful relationship to watch in the new series. I completely adored the Agatha Christie episode, esp that rather full-on kiss scene!
@GoldenAmethyst Thank you! That's the one thing I've resented about the revived series is that they kept treating the Doctor like he was some kind of Golden God. You can tell Russel T. Davies was a fanboy introducing that concept.
It's part of why I like the interplay between The Eleventh Doctor, Amy, and Rory so much. It's three mates having adventures, and they all take the piss out of each other equally. Plus Amy has the choice and chooses Rory, unlike Mickey who got screwed.
haha! the doctor and donna's exasperated 'we're not married!"'s just keep getting more and more funny! i love donna! "i'm NOT his woman!" and of course the doctor "oh no, no we're not a couple." he just sounds so exasperated
Even though I always shipped them, I'm glad they didn't end up together. Their relationship is hilariously adorable! The Doctor just wants to mate, sorry, A mate! Haha!
@RemyCoolX You know, I never made those connections, but it totally works! I guess that means the Doctor and Amy Pond are...father and daughter? Because of how they met? Kind of seems like it, doesn't it?
@RemyCoolX Hey, sorry to interrupt. But isn't amy pond the doctors "MOTHER in-law' because river song is her daughter and she got married to the doctor. So then how could they have a father daughter relationship?
I love that for ONCE, as charming and delicious as Tennant's 'Doctor' is, the companion does not fall in love. Once you get rid of some of the angst/romance you have more space for the lovely drama/comedy. Can't believe I haven't even watched this yet...
My head teacher embarassed himself in front of everyone in assembly (i dont think he know)..blablabla,doctor who,"Who,me,oh we're not a couple." Oh dear sir, you're gay and with the doctor?
People thought Rose/Doctor and Martha/Doctor were a couple quite a few times actually. In fact in series 1 Rose said something like "We're not a couple! Why does everyone always think we're a couple?"
