This is a very beautiful anthem, just want to make you cry I don't know why even though i never liked the Federation. It was first shown in Deep Space Nine by the way.

This is a great anthem for stadium events and speeches, the federation should also have an anthem with a bit more pomp for when the president of the united federation of planets turns up in his 24th century motorcade and walks up the red carpet to diplomatic functions

It seems in the future English or "Federation Standard" is the main language of the planet Earth and also the entire Federation.

Chinese. No sane person can really believe that English will remain its status as THE human language. In the 24th century, English surely won't have the status it had in the 20th century. No language, neither Latin nor French or even German in science, retained such a status for more than two centuries.

Well the only language seen on Federation starships and buildings is English. I have to disagree about the future of English as no other language has such widespread use. Most education systems teach the national language and English in schools. In the ST universe English is known as Federation Standard, but presumably the invention of the universal translator makes translation between Earth languages a piece of cake.

I know that the ST producers made English the Fed. Standard but this is nonsense. Look into the history of the Star Trek universe: the U.S. don't exist anymore, the Soviet Union, however, was founded again in the 21st century, Europe has been united with German as the language spoken by the most people. So why the hell should English and not Russian, German or Chinese have that status in the 23rd and 24th century? And to your other argument: German and French had a similar status in the past.
