  • Dave your videos and tips have been great and entertainment and education for the last year. I started with Blade MSR then Blade SR. I have learned a lot from you and look forward to more from you. Thank you and keep up the great work.

  • its pass my bed time oh no...............AHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • nice safe flying dude...NOT! Flying over students lose power or signal and slice someones eyes out! Talk about stupid! Not safe dude!

  • i wish you went to my school

  • wow omg you worked on blue thunder!!! that was my favorite movie when i was younger. i had it in tape and played it till it no longer worked. now i have it on dvd. you are the man!!

  • The camera work and unnecessary editing gimmicks made this nearly unwatchable. OK other than that for RC enthusiasts.

  • is the 3d heli you fly here a TREX ?

  • no its a trex clone by exceed rc. Its the BlueRay!

  • some lucky kids at that high school.

  • some crazy students, your information is great.

  • your vide0s have helped me out a lot, thanks

  • 'AWESOME!

  • omg a smart board

  • fack you amerika

  • fuck you afganistan!

  • fuck you both

    AMARATLI86

    And

    BigBombah

  • amazing...and you didn't cut the hair to anyone

  • the ch-46 has a horn?

  • sounds like fun man

  • My oldest and best friend has flown for 30 years. At Rucker, he flew a UH-1 sideways.

    Shit happens.

  • awsome i wouldent mind getting a lesson from you man! but i live in holland so thats kind of an problem .... oh well youtube helps lol i learned a lot from watching your vids and enjoy them a lot thanks for taking the effort of making them for us :) and this is it im subscribing lol

  • Hi Dave, wow what a very good idea! I bet you have made a few RC fliers for the future! Your CH46 looks to fly very well! looking at the video was it made with Pinnacle Studio 12? very well done

  • Gosh i wish i could have someone come and fly /teach about rc helicopters. i love doing stuff like that and i think it woulda been cool to have someone come and do it along with us much like you did. maybe even have a student that understands helicopters come and fly it along with ya LOL Great vid.

  • LOL the kids look like they are stunned that they are actually learning stuff.

  • why do you ask mr. herbert

  • Cause most people who ask me that usually cant fly helicopters upright very well. I was flying inverted long ago without gyros even but don't show it much of it today, as the heavy winds we fly in, make flying Kleenex helicopters difficult. I prefer a heavier gas helicopter with some momentum. I don't think unusual flying is very scale, which is what I really like.

  • Just flying a helicopter they way they were designed it good enough for those kids. Inverted is exotic when they dont even understand how they fly normally.

  • @NightFlyyer Well... it's not so difficult to explain how 3D works... You only have to show that the Blades force the air to go up and as a result of "actio et reactio" the Heli will move up - if it's already uside down!

  • how many rc vechicals each like give the number of planes helis and cars and whats ur most expinsive one

  • Lots after 50 years of flying. Are you IRS?

  • I, too wish some1 like you could have come to my school and gave a class like tht when I was a kid. I would have been thrilled to death to watch! You are the closest thing I have (and apparently a lot of others here as well) to an actual instructor. Without your vids, many of us would be on our own and frankly, lost. Thanks Dave!

  • I really appreciate your comments and loyalty. Thank you.

  • Lucky kids.I wish someone,or Herbie, would have come to my school when I was a kid.But thats along time ago and electric helis was nothing like they are today.

  • Thanks. Wish I had that when I was a kid too. Guess that is why I did it for these kids today.

  • HAHA I WAS IN THAT CLASS! I SEE MYSELF 8D, and dude that presentation was fun

  • Good. Glad you liked it. Thanks.

  • you should do some 3d flying with the blue ray when your at the gym

  • I mean some inverted 3d

  • There are old pilots and bold pilots, but no old bold pilots. When I am dealing with kids, etc, I play it safe. Besides it is too difficult to see in that gym with all the hoops for me at my age, so I save it for outside. You can see it fly in my other vids and this summer I will wring it out. Since snow hit, I have not had a chance to fly it outside. I always do that stuff outside first, testing the equipment before inside with spectators. They were impressed enough.

  • yeah a little too dangerous thanks

  • Thanks very kindly.

  • Great video.

I didn't know outrunners are more powerful then inrunners. Learn something new every day.

  • They have lots of torque for sure, as you can see and hear. That motor is no bigger than a standard size spool of thread. It sure impresses me too. Thanks for the kind comments.

  • I never though there was this kind of school!

When the blade rotate to the right the canopy rotate to the left...one most important rule!

What's the name of your video editor anyway?

  • Yep, there are these kinds of schools, thankfully. The rule is learn to use that left stick to keep the nose pointing away from you, til you get it all sorted out, no matter what it takes. The second rule, is to memorize my 9 heli flying tips and rules of thumb. I used 2 editors to make this movie. Pinnacle Studio 11 plus and Magix Movie Edit Pro 14

  • great video. i always enjoy seeing what you're up to. i love seeing the hobby grow and you continue to take it to new audiences. those kids were very interested and i have kids that age so i know how hard that is to do. keep up the good work. looks like you're having fun.

  • Thank you very kindly. I appreciate it.

  • Dave that was great. Those kids loved you and that's great for the hobby and for them. Well done mate, you really are a credit to our hobby.

To jbrannon69, I'd get that tx checked out, also check your swash is level, unplug the motor and make sure it's not moving when you push up, I've noticed my B400 tends to want to fly backwards unless it's trimmed a little forward.

  • Thanks for the kind comments and thanks for the good help comments too. Your correct.

  • Thanks Dave, I always try to help others with the Blade. The same as others helped me.

  • That was amazing to pass on your knowledge like thet, I have 4 new pilots that I am training using buddy box system right now, not as exciting as your day. But I have a shit load of fun doing it with the really new guy. And it should be said you need a pill pot full of prozak for afterwards,,,lol

great video mate, thanks for sharing 5*

  • Hahah. Good for you too, doing your part in teaching. Thanks for the kind comments. I appreciate them.

  • good job dave and help i got a blade400 for christmas and the radio is out so bad i cant fly when i give it power it tilts the rotor back so it flys back at you do you know what is wrong?

  • Thanks and congrats. The controls on the TX must be set up wrong. It sounds like it is a Mode one transmitter, and needs to be switched to mode II. Those are all test flown at the factory, so maybe someone messed with the tx programing at the hobby shop.

  • dave wanna come to my school in singapore =D i'll give u da address ^^

  • HEY dAVE .YOU SHOULD TAKE A COMPUTER SIM SO THEY CAN SEE THE DIFICULTY OF COPTERS.

  • See my video of How to fly RC helicopters. It was all done on the sim.

  • Nice man good work! I love your fishing with the helicopter, those guys dont know anything mate good work! Be sure to accept my friend invite and subscribe to me mate?

  • Thanks very kindly. I really appreciate your comments and I will approve you too.

  • i sure wish there was someone like you when i was in school. this type of learning is great for young and old. it makes you want to learn amd grow.you realy are great and passing it along to others( including myself).thank you and happy holidays. bill & deb 5s

  • Thanks very kindly Bill. I really appreciate your comments and rating. Take care,

    Dave

  • Dave as far as I can work things out by reading some of the comments, man you should be paid to do what you do. You have years of knowlege and experience and I would pay for that! Others who have a problem with it are just jelous! Keep going with the vids, they are some of the best on this hobby. Cheers.

  • Thanks very much. Well, if someone learns to fly with less difficulty than it took me and the rest of us old pioneers took in the beginning, that is all I ask. I appreciate your comments very much. Sometimes I get models to test and I get to keep them, so that isnt too bad either.

  • nice video and good to see the kids reaction its nice to be able to do that well done

    have you tried the

Walkera 2.4GHz 4G3 6CH 3D if its good that would be ideal to show 3d in a small space

  • Thanks kindly. Yes, it isnt that the Blue ray would not be able to do it or even me, but the fact that there were 6 basketball hoops out and the way I have seen things go wrong, I was not going to take any unessessary chances with those kids around. As we all know, S**t happens. It was effective enough, anyway.

  • hi dave when are u coming to my school in singapore =D

  • Thanks. I wish I could.

  • Very good video Dave. Glad to see that you can share your knowledge with the younger crowd.

    5 Stars ~ Eric

  • Thanks Eric. Listen there is a Guy in Georgia that asked me to come to his school. Maybe you could do it. You can fly good too.

  • I read the email a couple hours ago. Thank you very much for the kind words and thinking of me Dave.

  • Great video Dave. Don't listen to the idiot below. If you get commision on selling helis then it is well deserved. The more people that get into our great hobby the better. The fun of flight is something I wish everyone enjoyed.(My wife included!!! haha)

Quick question - When are you going to make a vid of you taking that blue ray upside down. I don't know if I have seen a true 3d video from you yet! :) Merry Christmas!

  • Haha.Thanks. You can read my reply back to him to see my response. LOL. Its okay. I have just really only gotten about 10 flights on BR and it is bitter cold. Soon as I get some nice spring time weather, Ill do some 3D stuff after getting used to it a little better. And one thing I learned over the years of flying helis, is that I always went home with mine (well mostly, LOL) and my friends did not, because they were a bit bold. I like keeping my stuff intact so am more patient these days,LOL

  • thats it dave target marketing just like the tobaco co. used to be able to do. kids have there parents disposable income, as long as you get the commission. RIGHT! happy menoreh.

  • hotforwordslover123,

Read the sidebar JACKASS! He was ASKED to give a demonstartion at the school!

  • go have a drink you drunk ass. i kmow you and you ars a looser drunk. how about ANOTHER D.U.I.

  • This is not a forum for you to make comments like that. Shame on you.

  • Thanks. See my reply to him.

  • Bitter. Your soo bitter. I get no commission from xheli, only helis to test. If they work, I will say so, if they dont, I will say so. In this case your comment is irreverent to the movie anyway, as I am truly trying to inspire these kids minds with something they know nothing about. If someone in that class someday comes up with a new kind of helicopter or battery, then that is the point. Your comments are mute and shame on you.

  • Nice one Dave, good on ya buddy!

  • Thanks very much. I appreciate that.

  • are the dual rotors harder to flly or easier

  • easier

  • Do you mean coaxial rotored helis or tandem rotored helis?

  • tandem

  • Yes, well, they are really about the same in the Coaxial version. This CH 46 is really easy, but a little intimidating with all the wind, etc. Also it is harder to tell whether it is coming or going. LOL

  • very good Dave,happy xmas

  • Thank you and the same to you.

  • Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year sir dave

  • Thank you and the same to you sir.

  • merry xmas dave!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks and same to you.

  • Nice, I didn't know you taught lessons in schools. Wish I had lessons this fun when I was in school.

  • Thanks very much. I never had anything like this either in school, so guess that is why it was fun doing it.

  • Dave Herbert, I would like to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Great job! : )

    ~ JPilot2

  • Thanks very much. I really appreciate your comments and wish you and your family the same this holiday season.

  • Merry Christmas Dave!

  • Thank you and same to you and yours too.

  • lol good job Dave!

  • Thanks much.

  • What an opportunity to expand the field of RC. You should also tezch them about jets and how they work. Exceed has a couple of EDF jets that would blow their mind. Keep this up.

  • Thanks. I really appreciate that. Well stay tuned, as I have 2 videos coming up soon on 2 of those Exceed jets.

  • Yet another great video Dave. That Chinook must really produce ALOT of lift with the 4 blades eh???? Keep 'em comin' 5/5

  • Haha. Thanks. Yep, it really does blow lots of wind which they all seem to love. I appreciate your comments.

  • I wish I was in that class, I'm in 8th grade and home schooled so I fly my cp2 about 2 hours a day.

  • Haha. Thanks. Well 2 hours a day is a lot, so you must be quite good.

  • Yeah, I have been flying for 5 weeks and I can do inverted hovering and loops already. I got a sim for christmas and it helps alot. I know what your thinking, I should NOT be learning to fly with a cp2 as my first rc aircraft. But I found it to be a resonable choice.

  • Great. Well only 4% of the people trying to learn helis ever advance to being able to fly short circuits around (average time, 1 year) let alone inverted flying, so good for you, as there is always exceptions.

  • Thnx

  • Congratulations on another great video. I like many others wish the technology would have been around when I was in school to have a class like that. Luckily we have it now. Happy flying and the happiest of holidays to you and yours.

  • Thanks very kindly. I do appreciate that and same to you in return.

  • how many batteries did it take to do that. did it cause any problems with overheating or anything.

  • I only used one battery per flight, then back to recharge, then on to the next classes later on. No problems with anything all day. It was nice.

  • Yet another excellent video and act for life. Five stars.

Im glad you didn't dare do much 3d inside the gym near the kids! Also, consider improving video quality (i.e. resolution), we like seeing details (i have seen very high quality videos here on YouTube)

  • Thanks kindly. Having had to keep a gas helicopter from going into a crowd (by kicking it and breaking 4 bones in my foot) as it flew by, leanring a lesson years ago, I sure did not want to take that chance here either, even though I have AMA insurance. I shot this all in HD using a Canon DVD cam, but due to YT practice (17 MB for 10 Minutes reg and 34 MB for HQ) it sure gets degraded. But very short videos are always way better too. Did you try it in HQ?

  • Aww i wish i got that when i was in JR high school, either way good job. Nice video too.

  • Thanks. Ask for it, and you never know....

  • your videos make me happy, Merry Xmas mr Herbert from Mexico! Saludos Amigo

  • Mucho Bueno. Gracias & Feliz Navidad!

  • thats a small class

  • Yes and especially as compared to all the schools I went to in California for sure. But now I live in a small town community and as you can see, it has it's advantages and the kids seemed more attentive than what I remember from my school. LOL.

  • Nice work Dave! Wow, I wish I would have had a class like that when I was that age (technology permitting). Good job on educating those kids on something they would otherwise never learn about in school.

Jeff, nice work on the camera. The video came out great.

  • Thank you very much. Your comment is much appriciated!

  • Thanks very kindly. I appreciate your comments.

  • Jeff always does great work on the camera. Dave is great with the flying, editing, sound effects, etc. but Jeff gives him the actual great footage to work with. Way to go, Jeff, you are hereby recognized appreciated. =)

  • Thanks very kindly. Ill tell Jeff.

  • aww i wish you can teach our school

  • Thanks.

  • They have classes on Christmas Eve? I thought it was winter break.

  • This was last Tuesday.

  • @GamePro0012

I absolutely HATE you and your love for spamming, macintosh and beta channels. Do the world a favor. Get the f off YouTube. You are making the world a more difficult place to live in.

  • Way to go Dave, sharing your experiences with those kids is sure to inspire!

Perhaps I'll also volunteer my time someday (once I get a roun'tuit).

  • Thanks kindly. I hope you do pass some back.

  • Great work Dave helping teach the kids about how helis work. The kids really appreciate it too. Their enthusiasm is contagious and it energizing just to work with them. Thanks for the vid.

  • Thank you very kindly for your comments. I appreciate it.

  • LOL someones got issues ...(Bradfordhere)

  • thats a great way to get more people interested in this hobby. great job!

PLEASE COME TO MY SCHOOL NEXT!!! :)

  • Thanks. I would love to.

  • That is really nice of you to spread your knowledge like that, this world needs more people as nice as you!

  • Thanks very kindly. I appreciate it.

  • OMG i wish they had u guys come in to my school back in the days !

that would be the best thing ever

    you're my hero DAVE !

thanks for sharing very kool video

  • Haha. Thanks for your kind comments.

  • Thanks kindly.

  • me to in ny

  • Thank you.

  • You make a great teacher :-)

  • Thanks very kindly.

  • Well its his channel, he can do as he pleases, the man obviously loves sharing knowledge, that's what the internet is about.

  • Very true. Im just trying to help. I dont need anything else.

  • You are absolutely correct hilitereel. And I can also give kind or cruel criticism to no end on this, but to break it down into simpler terms for you. I brought up a point, and now I am dropping it. Good day to you sir.

  • Your point has nothing to do with the content of this video and this is not the place to start arguing over what you think you know, but dont. Good day and good by

  • Yep, that is why I get the big bucks.

  • If you even knew the things Mr. Herbert has done...inventor the the first tail rotorless helicopter, inventor of the first electric tail rotor motor. (etrm) And to fly a jet in the movie Blue Thunder. Not to mention being able to fly helicopters like he does. Something not very many people can do. I think jealous gets a new meaning when it comes to your comments. Good day to you sir.

  • I never said that Mr. Herbert wasnt doing a good job with his RC videos. I gave some honest input and expected my comment to have some repercussions. If you cannot take some criticism to hone the edge a little then pack up and go home. And jealous is a offensive term, but I will take it kindly from you since you are Mr. Herbert's protege. Good day to Winston.

  • You are making rude and foolish comments. Shame on you.

  • Brdfordhere is a jive turkey. You're just jealous you can't fly, being a turkey and all.

If you don't like what's being offered here, go outside and play in the sandbox.

  • BOOOO!

hes just trying to share his knowlage to other people.

hes taught me a lot about helicopters, and now i know how to control bigger ones than coaxial helicopters. (after practice also, duh)

  • Excellent!!! You are a very good teacher Mr. Herbert! I think everybody had a good time and learned a thing or two. Are we going back in the spring for some outside flying? We might have to clear the parking lot and demonstrate a few jets and some 3D flying. Great job!!!

  • Thanks Jeff. You did a wonderful Job with the video too. I like the jet idea.

  • have ah happy holiday. JK have a marry X-Mas LOL

  • Thanks kindly and you too.

  • cool vid dave keep going and have a fine Xmass

  • Thanks very kindly. I appreciate and same to you.

  • So very cool, I was surprised with the seeming interest in the kids, You had a good few groups of them. I was hoping you'd end up breaking out some cheap havocs or something to let the kids fly a bit, but you did an excellent job, I wish we had that kind of class in school.

  • Thanks much. Yes they had a great time, it seemed. Haha on the Havocs.

  • Cool! IT's always better when learning is fun ;)

  • Thanks. Yes it is.

  • i wish i could have a class like that but in our physics lesson we just doing radiation

  • Tell your radiation Science teacher you would like to see some helicopter Physics and invent a nuclear battery or hydrogen fuel cells for model helicopters. LOL. Good luck and thanks for your comments.

  • Hahaha im not sure who enjoyed it the most... your or the kids or the teacher lol ;) Good Job there bud :)

  • I love to show off my helis, so it was sure fun for all of us.

  • cool

  • Thanks.

  • who is that white haired dude he stole your voice lol no really though this looks like fun .but i really thought your hair had turned white real fast

  • Haha. He is the editor of the local paper and substituting for the 2 and 3rd class. LOL. My hair is turning too...

  • By the looks on their faces in the gym I would say you have a bunch of future heli pilots there!

Keep up the great work Dave.

  • Thanks. I sure hope so. I hope they are inspired to come up with hydrogen fuel cells for models or nuclear batteries or something. Thanks again for your kind words.

  • Inspirational Dave - keep up the good work sir. You're a scholar and a gentlemen.

  • I really appreciate your comments. Thank you.

  • Nice one dave!;)

  • Thank you sir.

  • yes i wish too you gave free helicopters?
