She seemed to get very good scores throughout these trials even though she had a disaster on every event.

She deserved her place on the team. Dominique Dawes added NOTHING to that team total. And what leadership did she provide? Atler earned the spot based on the total, even with the low balled scores that the judges gave her because thats what that cocksucker Bela Karolyi told them to do. Sher deserved that spot and that team bronze medal. AND to not let her be the alterante after kicking her off the team is an insult. Hes done this to Kim Kelly, Sandy Woolsey, and so many others.

One of the best things about Vanessa Atler was that her jumps were flawless. I have never seen a gymnast perform jumps as well as she did.

She would have been good in the 01-04 quad when those jumps were so important and so few people did them well.

AND with the advent of 3-up, 3-count, she could've been very effective as a specialist! She wouldn't have had to worry about bars any more....That settles it--Vanessa Atler's real problem was that she was competing in the wrong quad.

i agree soooo much she was so not an all -arounder but her beam and vault and floor were great so yes the 3 up 3 count would have been perfect for her

That's true, but it wouldn't have been an issue if her former coaches had been more proactive about revamping her bar routine. Maybe in training they should have tried some new moves instead of rearranging old ones. Yeah, her problems were mental but maybe if she had a new routine she could approach it with a better mindset. Ah, who knows? By the time she left them, the implosion had already begun and she was totally frazzled.

@auswriteratheart i think i may disagree with that. given her great potential for breakdown in crucial moments she could have been a potential disaster in the team format of 3 up, 3 count.
