I would not buy a John Deere push mower or snowthrower. They sub these out and I do not believe they have much if any R&D and such into them. Just sub out to whom ever and who knows how often they change that sub?!
JD does make their own tractors and they are awesome! However, as I wanted a smaller lawn tractor I bought a Simplicity Broadmore.
If I was to buy a snowthrower I would only buy Simplicity or Toro! In fact, I just bought a Toro 8028 today. Get it Friday!
I'm a huge John Deere fan, but after talking to a local John Deere dealer that sold both Toro and John Deere I was told that the Toro machine was much beter. I also started watching what all the comercial snow plow companys used for clearing sidewalks and Toro was the majority. I purchased Toro. I moved 15 inches plus of snow with the Toro 221 in the last big snow in Chicago and it worked great. Would highly recomend over any other brand in the single stage catagory.
