Its only about ten grand difference which wouldn't matter if you're buying either of these cars. So stock for stock the GT-R will eat that z06, go ahead and slap on a supercharger with slicks. Without slicks you're looking at major traction issues. Remember from a dig and corners, AWD is king. Whats a simple S/C? An Ebay kit? LOL

Hell even if you compare the NA mach 1 or 2001 cobra's they STILL shit on camaro's and make the about the same power and that is with no power adders and 1.1 liters smaller. Again, DRIVERS RACE. who ever is the better driver, wins, simple as that because a 03/04 cobra and a C5 Z06 are THAT CLOSE, end of discussion. C6 Z06 is a much better car than both.

the 03 cobra definately deserves respect i will be the first to admit that i absolutely love the car but compared to the vette stock for stock its just not the best and in 02/03 the z06 of that year was within 5-6k diff. in price from the cobra and it was a better all around car. handling,0-60,1/4 mile etc.
My point is that, the Vette SHOULD be better, it is a 2 seater, and cost more and is lighter. But that the cobra can be THAT close is impressive. as far as making power, anyone can do that, I love the feeling of boost compared to a big NA engine but thats just me.
PIE cobra's making in the neighborhood of 450-480 rwhp. Ported depending on the stage makes 500 and above, KB cobra's make 550-700 Rwhp, believe it or not the weak point of cobra's is the stock eaton.

A good driver can be in the 12's pretty easily. Evan Smith ran a 12.43 @ 113 in October '02 MM&FF in a stock Terminator, look it up.

281ci and a blower is fords approach to power and for some reason they havent figured out that all it does it put more weight in the motor and give them problems with a heavy front end. an mechanic once said "there is no replacement for displacemet" and chevy is proving that they produce large displacement engine making big power and do so in a lightweight engine with almost perfect weight balance
First off, these cars aren't even in the same class so the comparison is useless. Second, the reason cobra's are heavy is because they have iron blocks and IRS, ALMO from SVTP got his cobra down to Z06 weight, STOCK pullies and ran an 11.01, Upper only 10.8, Upper and Lower 10.69. Third, no Z06 comes with a built motor factory stock. Fourth, That saying is archaic at best, with technology you no longer need 427's to make 505 (about 460 rwhp) hp. Ford figured that out years ago.

The terminator cobra is to end the Mustang/Camaro battles, both cars are in the same class and the Cobra OWNS. If you have 50K then yes, but you can get a 03 cobra for around 19K, throw a couple thousand into it and it'll smoke Zee's. Ford makes their cars to mod, and NO corvette can handle 800 Hp on a stock motor like an 03/04 cobra can.
stock for stock the corvette owns . once you alter a vehicle its no longer stock. and once again ford uses the blower to make power but in return they add even more weight to the car particularly in the front end which is why they cant make a high HP car that handles. the z06 accomplishes both 505hp and a nearly perfect weight balance now thats technology any idiot can throw a blower on an engine an go fast in a straight line!!!
and the Z06 is made mostly of plastic to get to 3100 pounds. You got it bass ackwards... any IDIOT can make a high compression 427 and put it into a 3000 pound car to go fast, to mass produce a blower car that weighs 3660 w/o driver and IRS that does mid 12's stock with 281 cubic inches is technology. Not to mention a built motor, Government Motors would never do that.

The extra weight comes from the k member, the BACK SEAT(you ever seen a vette with one of those?) front seats, slicks and skinnies, IRS, IRON block, bumper supports, spare tire in the trunk.
its not just about the HP speed is directly linked to a car power/weight ratio so many HP/lbs the vette has the better power/weight ratio. handling has alot to do with the cars over all balance and with the NA 427ci the vette makes nearly perfect weight balance while the mustang is lacking in both departments

IT IS BOOSTED FROM THE FACTORY.
When you compare two cars that ARE NOT EVEN IN THE SAME CLASS, TWICE the price with an 146 cubic inch larger engine and 700 pounds lighter, its fair for the cobra to be modded, afterall if you look at ford's, they built to be affordable and modded. Not huge amounts of money into the cobra either(KB cobra). Very few cars come with an iron block, forged rods, pistons and crank from the factory, just needs a better blower. If you want to compare factory stock, compare the ford GT to the Z06.

Do a little research... Ford underrated the Cobra engines, they have shown 390 RWHP and more showroom stock, which means they are actually about 430 Hp. (whats that and they are over a liter smaller too!) That is well known about Terminator Cobra's, its funny you have to resort to the flagship of government motors to take out a car that isnt even in the same class that cost half as much with a much smaller engine LOL! and you can't put down 500 RWHP with under $500 in mods either!

@Camaros5678 If you add a "simple" supercharger and all the maintenance/supporting mods/tuning you're still gonna top over the price of the GT-R. Stock for Stock. Its only about ten grand difference which wouldn't matter if you're buying either of these cars. So stock for stock the GT-R will eat that z06, go ahead and slap on a supercharger with slicks. Without slicks you're looking at major traction issues. Remember from a dig and corners, AWD is king. Whats a simple S/C? An Ebay kit? LOL

yes notice they did indeed supercharge their engine but did they supercharge the smallest 4.8l v8 or did they super charge there large displacement 6.2? and ford supercharges their 5.4l and acheives 550hp GM supercharges their 6.2l and acheives over 630hp hmm even charger for charger the GM makes more power. and a pullied cobra still wont handle like any of the above may be fast in a straight line but thats it and think real hard about it there is a reason ford didnt pully the 04 :)

Okay take this into consideration, My car pullied and ported makes 520 Rwhp and 520 Rwtq, at the flywheel that is nearly 600 Hp, out of a 4.6 Liter... Need I say more? Cobra's are set up for road racing from the factory, they even have the same suspension as the z06, so you'd be wrong in that it would be onesided. Again, DRIVERS RACE. who ever is the better driver, wins, simple as that because a 03/04 cobra and a C5 Z06 are THAT CLOSE, end of discussion. C6 Z06 is a much better car than both.

My point is that, the Vette SHOULD be better, it is a 2 seater, and cost more and is lighter. But that the cobra can be THAT close is impressive. as far as making power, anyone can do that, I love the feeling of boost compared to a big NA engine but thats just me.
PIE cobra's making in the neighborhood of 450-480 rwhp. Ported depending on the stage makes 500 and above, KB cobra's make 550-700 Rwhp, believe it or not the weak point of cobra's is the stock eaton.

First off, these cars aren't even in the same class so the comparison is useless. Second, the reason cobra's are heavy is because they have iron blocks and IRS, ALMO from SVTP got his cobra down to Z06 weight, STOCK pullies and ran an 11.01, Upper only 10.8, Upper and Lower 10.69. Third, no Z06 comes with a built motor factory stock. Fourth, That saying is archaic at best, with technology you no longer need 427's to make 505 (about 460 rwhp) hp. Ford figured that out years ago.

The terminator cobra is to end the Mustang/Camaro battles, both cars are in the same class and the Cobra OWNS. If you have 50K then yes, but you can get a 03 cobra for around 19K, throw a couple thousand into it and it'll smoke Zee's. Ford makes their cars to mod, and NO corvette can handle 800 Hp on a stock motor like an 03/04 cobra can.

If you think its the supercharger that is adding all the extra weight well then I have nothing more to say.... except that the extra weight (about 50 lbs) MORE than makes up for it.
The extra weight comes from the k member, the BACK SEAT(you ever seen a vette with one of those?) front seats, slicks and skinnies, IRS, IRON block, bumper supports, spare tire in the trunk.

its not just about the HP speed is directly linked to a car power/weight ratio so many HP/lbs the vette has the better power/weight ratio. handling has alot to do with the cars over all balance and with the NA 427ci the vette makes nearly perfect weight balance while the mustang is lacking in both departments

When you compare two cars that ARE NOT EVEN IN THE SAME CLASS, TWICE the price with an 146 cubic inch larger engine and 700 pounds lighter, its fair for the cobra to be modded, afterall if you look at ford's, they built to be affordable and modded. Not huge amounts of money into the cobra either(KB cobra). Very few cars come with an iron block, forged rods, pistons and crank from the factory, just needs a better blower. If you want to compare factory stock, compare the ford GT to the Z06.

no the cobra doesnt have the right to be modded becaues your entire argument was that less motor with boost is better than N/A larger engines when in all reality power/weight ratio is the biggest factor in all cars and GM builds large powerful engines that weigh less than fords smaller boosted engines end of story.

Compare My 281 supercharged to a C5 Z06 (405 hp Ls6) I make more power stock with less cubes, thats my point... you dont need a 427 to make just 505 hp (lol). I make more than that and I am just pullied. Once again, compare the Ford GT to the Z06, not Cobra's. Power/weight ratio? Never heard of that (kidding).... of course it is important, but the most important mod is the DRIVER.

stock 03 cobra supercharged 390hp. stock 02 LS6 engine 405hp.. and your point was more power with less cubes??hmm ur math must be a bit rusty. and actually if you want to get technical the LS6 engine was rated at 405hp but on the dyno made 425hp and it was said that GM under rated the engine :) did i mention thats NATURALLY ASPIRATED? the Cobra R was N/A with a 5.4L and it only made 385hp the vette is 5.7 with 405hp and ur point was again?

Do a little research... Ford underrated the Cobra engines, they have shown 390 RWHP and more showroom stock, which means they are actually about 430 Hp. (whats that and they are over a liter smaller too!) That is well known about Terminator Cobra's, its funny you have to resort to the flagship of government motors to take out a car that isnt even in the same class that cost half as much with a much smaller engine LOL! and you can't put down 500 RWHP with under $500 in mods either!

Debuting in early 2002, the 2003 Cobra came with a supercharged 4.6 L DOHC engine rated at 390 hp @6000rpm and 390 ft·lbf of torque@ 3500rpm. It was later determined that Ford had under rated the Cobra, as actual SAE-corrected flywheel output was determined to be in the 390 to 400 horsepower (300 kW) range...
this is a copy and paste from a ford based website not sure where you are getting your 430hp stock :( sorry little buddy.
