he's fun and a very talented guy...but gavin creel just completely trumps Groff in this role. Vocally, indeed, but also in terms of his character, his comic timing. Creel's performance is a masterclass, Groff's pulling of of the bway transfer ended up being a blessing in disguise.

@me148 I agree. I love them both to death, but Gavin works so much better as Clade. Funny thing, actually. Groff was Spring Awakening's Melchoir following worshop performances by Creel, while Creel replaced Groff as Claude. They basically swapped roles, and created magic! <3

J. Groff is so different from Christopher Hanke (who replaced Groff) it is hard to say better. They bring completely different angles to the role. I liked Groff's delivery of "going to see my daffodils" a bit more because it was clearer. Christopher has a smoothness to his singing that I really like though. They are both really great. It's a hard call. LIke the riddle of the sphinx that question is.

I have seen Hair 3 times already, with both Claudes, and I agree with livylovesit that I liked Christopher Hanke more, but JG is an incredible performer in his own right. I've danced with both of them :-D

jonathon groff is great don't getme wrong, but I saw this show with Christopher J. Hanke (who replaced groff) and I thought he was better.  I danced with him after the show it was amazing!
