If you seriously love Tron... you should try the TRON 2.0 game for the PC! It so rawks... search for a video preview here on youtube, there's lots of great showings of it. I have it myself, it's so bad ass!
Then what a bunch of dumb asses they are (the people of Disney) the first thing I thought when watching this video was: "I should buy the movie, because it brings me back happy memories from my childhood" So if Disney does not want happy and free advertisement they are fools!
OMG - I'm so sorry it took me a few days to reply. I thought you were some spam person - lol I saw the TR2N teaser - I was having huge doubts about the possibility but when Jeff Bridges shows up sporting a beard on-screen I just got that feeling of excitement - HOLY SHIT! I guess i'll have to give TR2N a benefit of a doubt. I'm dying to read the screenplay. Thank you so much for the heads-up. YOU ROCK !
You know, I i've never seen an actual movie in IMAX ( besides documentaries on Space or Antarctica ). So I heard Director Christopher Nolan shot half of The Dark Knight in IMAX. I plan to see The Dark Knight, twice. One of the screenings i'll catch it in IMAX then i'll come back to let you know what I think about TRON being remastered in IMAX :)
matrixcmitech - Thanks! Stuff like this takes me back to simple times. Things weren't so excessive and short-lived as it is today. TRON was first of its kind and blew us fans away. Even the arcade game was damn good from the Pac-Man era - not just the game but the whole friggin cabinet! Whenever I start the restoration - I will document it and upload it here.
WOW! GREAT video!!! I was 9 when TRON wowed and mezmerized me in a suburban Cincinnati, Ohio movie theater. I also used to get, "3 2 1 Contact" magazine, and recall an in-depth issue on the "Spy Hunter" videogame cabinet. The movie, and the game will FOREVER wow me. I also bought the 20th Anniversary Special Edition DVD (it's a MUST HAVE), and I HOPE and PRAY the 2011 sequel will be good. Hell, I may even write my own fanfic, and would love to get the coin-op. How much is the coin-op?
To be honest with you I don't want a sequel to TRON unless Director Steven Lisberger has a "logical" script / screenplay. I can just think of many ways they can screw this film up with a sequel especially with today's movie-going demographic. But i'd love to see a fanfic because you're probably hardcore with the original film. Plus, you'd have complete creative freedom unlike Hollywood movies.
I used to work at a miniature golf & amusement place back in the mid-90s. There, I met a late friend of mine (RIP) who had a warehouse of coin-ops. He just so happened to have TRON but it needed work. Based on the condition - I figured the restoration would be alot cheaper than a complete working TRON coin-op. Lately I haven't checked the going-rate. You may wanna do some google searchin. I'll check as well.

Tron was well crafted visual effects film and the story was quite good too. I wonder what it must be like inside a computer.

awesome vid ... we played the coin-op at the bowling alley back in the 80's but it was always black sabbath on the juke box!;)!!
you absolutely MUST go for the restoration and post a video series about it!! do it for the users!!
