  • CFS patients need far more detailed trigger point work & also massage of piano wire like "banding" running across the muscle. In worse cases lumps as small as golf balls up to tangerine sized hardened knotted up muscle twisting can have pits & grooves. CFS patients unable to move often are in excructiating pain. In a heated pool massage works even better for disabled patients of these new controversial "CF syndrom" patients. This example is for more "normal" trigger points.

  • Prob w/a preponderant focus upon TPs could prevent most important areas of one's condition to be ignored.TP's will often resolve once actual problems have either been properly treated &/or has self resolved.McKenzie relates acute problems affecting neck, for ex, esp aged under 30, r short-lived. In 3 to 5 days most prob resolved. Even patient w/acute torticollis become symptom free in that period of time. Successful application of any ointment, pill or remedy, no mater how innocuous, is assured

  • Without a mechanical assessment, this may occur. A mechanical assessment is what physical therapists are trained to perform so they don't spend their time poking around trigger points when they can get to the main sources of the problem first. Personally, I don't mind treating such entities along with what I do 'in the event' it helps; however, as of this date, said benefits are still being studied. BTW, I was certified in NMT.
