  • "I've actually heard the clones and the originals side by side. They're faithful copies, and put out just as much power when bench tested."

Thanks for that commentary on the clones. I've been wanting to find out how they perform. Sanway emailed me that fp10000q were down to $750 a piece. I've even seen one account that said $199 a piece (but that seems to good to be true). Do you have any comments as far as slew rate of the amps?

  • ..and thats how earthquakes are made.

  • :43

    Holy fuck.

  • You have one awesome setup very nice i would love to hear that one day

  • Did you replace the 15A plugs on the lab clones? Hey are you planning a group buy anytime soon on those labs?

  • Why 120VAC on bass amps???! Continuous power is king for the really low stuff. Of course with your room size and driver displacement it's like car audio, putting you inside the enclosure. 8 18s is enough though if you wired it with some high current/voltage amps like powersoft 10ks running <4Ohm there would be serious snap! Of course most residential settings are way too power limited (single phase < 25kVA) You can always get a 500kW railcar genny and mount it outside though!

  • @cpufrost The FP14000s actually outpower the powersoft 10ks. 20k might be a different story. They are rated to run at 16a 220v, or 30a 120v and have different power supplies depending on the configuration. That is actually the same amount of power on either voltage. They can run slightly more stable at 220v, but I'm not even coming close to stressing them in this environment, so it is irrelevant. Each amp has a dedicated 30a circuit.

  • @notnyt

You're comparing a Chinese box to a real pro rig / ha! Seriously beg/borrow/steal whatever even the smallest K series and LISTEN to your sound. I've listened to all the top dogs in PRO audio for BASS and nothing controls the speaker cone like a powersoft. Too bad they command the price they do but if you do pro audio for a living they are worth it! I thought Powerlight 9s were king until I heard 10ks. NOTHING compares but again you need the electric and drivers to show 'em off. ;)

  • @cpufrost I've actually heard the clones and the originals side by side. They're faithful copies, and put out just as much power when bench tested.

As for K10 vs FP14000, FP14000 just barely edges out more power. They're both excellent amps, and for sub duty, there is no notable difference in sound quality. There were some rebranded K10s being sold for a while, but I wasn't able to grab any of them at lower prices. The clones go for $750 a piece and are only lacking the network link.

  • @notnyt

Thanks for the link. For that price I will buy a few and test them out in real pro environments. DJs would love to hear potential good news out of this for sure! :)

  • @cpufrost Something else I forgot to mention. One drawback on the clones that I've heard of, but have not seen, is that the circuits may be a little flakey and not limit where they are supposed to. Again, I have only heard this and not seen it. I do not use the VPL.

  • @notnyt blu ray version or dvd version?

  • @notnyt how is the bass on the bd ,is it more clearer and more rich?

  • @notnyt and what frequency do you hear , when ray is at the car and that street begins to groan?

  • @TheElectronicaman It goes down to like 5hz.

  • @notnyt whoa , so that contributes to the insane bass.

  • Can it float a carpet like Basspig's sytem? LOL Seriously epic. Got my like.

  • @TerdFurg3zon Basspig only floats a carpet because of his high port velocity. That's not a good thing ;) These are sealed, so they do not have that issue.

  • Found this via Parts Express Tech talk, to AVS Forum, to your site lol. Absolutely beautiful/jaw dropping theater build. 5 stars man.

  • That is awesome!

  • Cheese 'n' Rice!! That's sweet.

  • I have Eclipse SW8200's and an 05 RE XXX 12, planning on an LMS Ultra 18 whenever, years lol. I saw your tests on the forums, although inconclusive because of in-room & out of box or whatever it was, the LMS Ultra graphs super impressive. In-car, does the low distortion of these motors make up for the low sensitivity (like 82 1w1m for the Eclipse), and in the end you get the same out put or is out put at a compromise? Same box (2.2 NET @ 36 Hz), my SW on 750W was as loud as my XXX on 1500W, why?

  • I'm going to favourite this before I watch it.

  • LMS 5400 can take 8kw peak, so no, one of these cannot run all 8 of my drivers effectively.

14000w is peak power output. A 30a 120v circuit will obviously be limited to 3600w sustained power output, having more available for peaks stored in the capacitors. Thanks for your opinion, as clearly it has no actual grounds based on fact.

  • Couldn't 1 FP14000 do the job? Having 4 isn't impressive you you're not using them to their full potential.

  • you and @kryptonitewhite are my influences to this stuff! Can't wait to get a house of my own and do something like this

  • :D ah, brings a sigh. I can only imagine the single digit energy there.
