nope, theres a special handshake between the zune and the computer making sure its windows. There are people working on a way around this but untill then you have to run a vitual machine in mac (I know about linux which applies to mac in this case as well) of windows.

this isn't working - my registry has a ton more options than your shows, including no regedit32 (only regedit), not ENUM under ControlSet001 (but yest under ControlsSet0004 and up), No Vid____&Pid under USB under any of those, etc.

You have to start your zune software. Begin a sync. then in the middle hit Ctrl Alt Del...and go to proccesses and end the zune software

Ok, so what u need to do is open a sync with the zune software. then close the proccess with Task manager(Ctrl+Alt+Del)...then end its proccess. and then do it. or there may be a program that will open it and keep the zune open for you but i dont know of the name.

OK i fixed the problem!

along with theses registry edits, go to

"zune driver" under "device parameters" and go to "useWpdPrivateInterface" and set the value to "0", now this hack works with the 3.1 software

1. Is there a way to make it so when you connect the zune and sync it, it doesn't remove the files from the zune that aren't on the computer. (I've accidentally deleted things from my computer, but I still want them on my zune)

Actually, it's possible (there have been reports) that this hack might mess with the voltage of your battery by sending too much current into it. Lithium ion batteries are very sensitive to voltage and that will probably cause them to inflate and overheat. Google "lithium battery explosion".

I strongly recommend you don't apply this hack.

I dont know about all that...it might be true, it might not...i just know that i have tried it about 5 times with different computers and different zunes...and have thought many other people how to do this and they have succesfully done it themselves...and it worked just great.

So one day your battery doesn't last 3 hours and you can't find out why... everytime you charge your Zune, you're increasing chances of getting a battery failure. I wouldn't mess with Microsoft's protection systems. They won't repair your device if you destroy it accidentally.

Hmmm Im not sure what to say about this one. but i can say this works! when looking for the VID####PID#### thing its best to just right click and FIND the file names under USB folder. This does work for vista! and it does work for new zune updates! but you cant open anything on zune. you can just store stuff on it. also i get 2 zunes when i plug one in??? but that maybe just becuase i put a 2 value insead of a 1 Im not sure.

Dude if you want to add songs on your zune open up the start menu and type in the search

box zune and up should get a zune file box on there click it and then paste the song on there then exit out got to zune software then click sync and then your songs will sync to it.

its not vistas fault at this point in the programing you will have to hunt and find the drivers under the enum part. when you find the zune part follow the rest of the instructions

I dont think you can put Files onto the zune from a Different computer, but you can bring files from your zune to the host computer. Also if you want it to show up in "My Computer" then you have to do what i did on this computer to the other computer you want to put the files on, Make Sense. If Not Comment.

You have to Run The Zune Software and Sync it then while syncing Try it.
