You know what I mean... first violins usually have the melody while violas are stuck with the harmony. I know there are several songs written for the viola part to have the melody, but 1st always seem to have it more than violas do.

Definitely THE best performance of the passacaglia I have heard so far, even better than Perlman and Zukerman. Especially the viola is played really good. You have potential to become a virtuoso, without a doubt. If someone in your age is able to play THIS great, with so much emotion and perfect intonation, he/she is born to play that instrument. Please continue playing the viola (and violin), we need you ;)!

The control is excellent. Vibrato is limited, and though the recording quality is not too great, i can certainly see the the proper use of virtuosity and subtlety. Also, tone is superb, especially for the viola, which is an extremely difficult instrument to control in tone. For some reason whenever i try to play one the two higher strings are really nasal and assertive- not the way i like them at all. Good occasional use of vibrato, and good non-use when appropriate.

i know that thats one of the biggest differences if you were switching from violin to viola, although you might not be. It could also be your instrument, but i don't want to offend you or anything, i always over react when people involve my viola. lol

usually when i play the viola solo or in small ensembles, i mute it, or get the whole group to tune to 415. even then it's a borrowed instrument with bad bow-hair. I always end up having to play it in quartets because i'm only person who can play it decently.

That was fanfuckingtastic. I which I could make playing my instrument look that easy and sound that good. Your sound balances amazingly and it is both technical and musical. I love the violist's tone and I don't think my intonation will ever be that consistent. Those comments all apply to the violinist as well, but it is just rare to see such a refined viola sound.

I wish I was there. Also maybe you should upload again, its a shame that it got muddled up in the middle. Keep it up!
