@ReiketsuIttou for this one I think I went with 4.06 e+ but 1.1 covers everything I used in this one. The later versions have halftones and such in them
then don't watch it? I personally learned open canvas watching these. I have real tutorials on my site but apparently you didn't read the comment. :) good job hun.
@aloha46 hey i love this personally but in a way i agree its not a tut because there was not really any explination on how to do it ect, but i still enjoyed bobbing along to the music and watchign it, its amazing seriously i love it
i'm thinking of getting wacom but i dont know if its worth it i dont know how to use it and i hav open canvas but i've never used it... is it realy worth using wacom or could i just take a photo of my scetch and edit it?
Yes!! The wacom tablets are so worth it!! They come with photoshop elements for free and are so much fun! I use one I got for $80 so it's not big. You'll love it if you get it.
Holy Crappers! That is good! I do feel a little mislead because you didnt explain anything about the program or even let us see what tools you were useing but you have talent! the anime-like drawing is not my style but it is great for what it is.
ya. you have a tablet which helps explain why mine looks so bad. So what you are saying is if i use a bunch of layers then the little mistakes wont stand out?
No- the trick to making mistakes seem minimal is to draw the picture big then shrink it- believe me I start with my canvas at 2000 x 2000 and shrink it to like 600 x 600 Which usually works ^_^
This "tutorial" is, in my opinion, severely lacking. It explains absolutely nothing, and while the drawing is nice and a very admirable style, it's little more than a speed-drawing (drawing sped up for youtube). If you want others to better understand how to draw in OpenCanvas, at least explain the drawing tools used, the layers, and the use of different colors and sizes. Remember, these kinds of things aren't immediately obvious to the average user. :3
He definitely used at least three layers. At 0:54 you can see the line-art while still blocking in the colors. At 1:22 you can see a quick flicker of his first layer, the sketch he seems to have scanned. Also note at 1:25 you can clearly see the faint lines of a sketch and the eyes he details before he colors it in. At 2:35 you can see he instantly blocks in the background without any jaggies or odd issues that often come with simply bucket-filling around pixels. Also, 2:53.
Sorry for commenting on ya as a guy. If I don't know the gender, "it" sounds to a lot of people like an offense, like they aren't even a human, and he/she is quite a bitch to keep typing in. By the way, if you wish to improve your tutorials, I'd recommend following my other tutorial and adding some comments inside the video to help explain what does what, and how to get the effects you used.
i suck at soft shading on opencanvas. i found this helpful. like others have said though, it would be nice to know what tools you used, just to help a bit more. thank you for the upload and great picture :]
You're right- I do need to get better at making these. It's 4.06e+ but I only used one layer, so 1.01 would do the same. (Ps, I only used pen if it helps)
Good lord, only one layer? I would beg the differ. See my other comment. Still, if that really was one layer, damn. You're way too damn good at background art without interfering with the foreground for me to believe otherwise, but if what you state is true, that's some crazy skill. :p
Haha I suppose you're right-- The audio commentary option was looking bleak because I think my voice is annoying and annotations would compromise the img quality of the picture ^_^;; so I figured that this was the best option for people without access to the event file ^_^; Thanks for watching though!
hahaha alright: You sketch a picture, use another layer to colour over it, making a solid layer over it. Overlay the sketch with a multiply layer calculation on it. Then shade for about 3 hours. and then you're done ^_^
one question
does all the color and shading goes into the second layer?
and how do you fix when the color goes out of the actual draw?
blackyonbi 1 year ago
@blackyonbi 1. yes, in this program you might as well due to the fact that there is no way to blend the colors via sampling and keep the layers clean
2. You can pick up existing colours with the eyedropper tool, it's right click in this program and alt in photoshop.

No, I just did say that I was looking for a tutorial but only find music videos that not explained anything about this program.
This is not a tutorial, it is a demonstration or maybe a show-reel.

Well, I use what's called a wacom tablet-- but When I did draw with my mouse, I found that zooming in a ridiculous amount really helps.

I just got openCanvas today, sucks you have to pay to use it fully. I hate buying stuff online.
Anyway very cool and beautiful drawing there, btw nice music too, but just like what the guys have posted seeing the tools is extra helpful.
I can tell you used Paint Brush, Drafting Pen (I think), and Eraser. Not sure if that's all, but did you use two layers or more to do this? 5/5 Stars

I usually make a layer for every new colour I use- like sketch, line, flat colour, shading but it really depends on how neat of an artist you are.
