  • It's called a bent press.

  • R.I.P. Paul. I know you are in Heaven!

  • didnt lift it as much as pushing his body down

  • the weight was 300 pounds.its doubtful if anyone today could duplicate this feat..

  • you guys are idiots if you think that's really 300 lbs

  • @lovesgibson its 300 pounds. look it up

  • @Leeroynumanuma lmao, were you the one who weighed out each plate, and you know for sure that it's 300 pounds? didnt think so. in another video this guy barely cleans and presses 435 pounds. so now you think he can press 300 with one arm twice with no leg momentum? gtfo you gullible poeple

  • @lovesgibson your fucking retarded lol its a legitamate record look it up before commenting. Im not gullible at all cause ive done the research. Do the same before you fucking comment and make yourself look like an idiot. Paul Anderson is a legend give him his dues or gtfo

  • @lovesgibson Its not same damn thing then one arm clean and press!

  • @MrPappa2566 yeah, it's harder moron.

  • @lovesgibson Not really he used both arms to lift it up moron.

  • He appeared to be doing a kind of half side press (not a bent press) by not locking out and not standing erect at the end of each lift.

  • it didnt look locked out at the elbow.

  • Isnt this a bent press? What the difference between a bent press and a one arm shoulder press?

  • i'm confused, i was reading about him on google and it said that when he wanted to compete in some olympics after he'd turned pro they wouldn't let him bc he'd acepted money 4 some weight lifting competitions and that made him a pro or w/e, my question is how come he couldn't compete in the Olympics 4 taking money when sports stars of today like kobe, lebron, etc. can play in the olympics even tho they get paid and r pros? like did the rules change from then till now?

  • Would you consider the fact that he moved downwards away from the weight rather than extending fully a complete lift?

  • Holy fuck balls utopia. Thats without roids too... fucking incredible. I think its safe to say is the strongest man to ever live? Imagine him with roids jesus... he could do that to a fucking bus.

  • @brybry19871987 They had roids back then too. Just not as refined.

  • yes it was 300 pounds.... my old man told me he saw him at a strongman show and it was impressive..... Paul was the real deal!!!!

  • dam , and i thought doing that with my boner was impressive

  • thats not human jesus

  • theres no way thats 300 lbs, no no no no way

  • @DMxNemesis It is ....they don't make us like they used to.

  • What about Louis Cyr? His feats of strength included lifting 500lbs with one finger, holding 4,337lbs on his back and resisting the pull of 4 Draught horses.

  • The only thing I have to say about this is holy fucking shit fuck balls fucking shit oh my fucking god that dude is fucking crazy shit fuck fuck shit and a partridge in a pear tree.

  • No way, he must be genetically lucky, and some how more muscle fibers work at once or something

  • I think you should remove the comment in parenthesis that says 'a record in his time' because no one has done it since then. Even in the World's Strongest Man competition where they lift a heavy dumbell, the weights are about 100 lbs less and they are not pressed but are jerked over head. Anderson lifts this weight like a rag doll. He was the real deal.

  • @grandan100 Yeah when I was doing powerlifting I always heard Paul Anderson was the world's strongest man ever without a doubt.

  • wtf this guy scares me ^^

  • This man was the real deal power house ask any power house steroid user today.

  • believe it people, that really is a 300 pound dumbbell

  • It's actually kind of a partial lift, because he appears to be pushing his body down as much as he's pushing the weight up.

  • @NemeanLion I was thinking the same thing but I think that's how they do a 1 arm push press or maybe it's called a 1 arm press.I don't think many if any people do it today.

  • theres no way thats 300 lbs.

  • Were those plastic weights?

  • Holy fuck.

  • GOD DAMN THAT'S STRONG AS FUCK!!!!!

  • @khav11 maybe they should beat you for being so ugly.

  • @Friday13thTaurus bitch i got 14.5 inch bi's @ 5'10"! u jelly brah?

  • @lovesgibson

you aint nothing phaggot.... pls go

  • @TheNewBlackster dude, i was just kidding. i knew paul anderson. he was way stronger than a phaggot like you will ever be! u mad?

  • @lovesgibson

Oh, okay. and you're right... I can only do 315 with two hands not one.

Can you overhead press 315 with two hands phaggot?

  • @TheNewBlackster pics/video or it didnt happen you phucking phaggot!! im not a phag like yOu so ill say what i can actually overhead press! in REAL life i can overhead press 120! u mad phag?! i no in real life u probably max out with the bar!

  • @lovesgibson

    Oh, cool. How many times?

  • @TheNewBlackster max. u mad?

  • @lovesgibson

    With one hand?

  • @TheNewBlackster u dumb bruh? no! 2 hands!

  • @lovesgibson

lawl. Yeah, I am a lil on the dumb side.

  • @lovesgibson you're a dick.

  • @luciphoenix u mad?

  • @lovesgibson no i pity that you have nothing better to do in your life than troll. it's a shame you can't go outside and be social like a normal human being and maybe find someone to fill that void in your life.

  • @luciphoenix wow man, what youve said has really touched me. it's time that i turned around my sham of a life. but... i just have one question... Y U MAD BRO?!?!?!

  • @lovesgibson good trolls are clever. you're not. you have lost the game.

  • @lovesgibson and no, no i'm not. you can keep trying though.

  • How the hell is this before steroids were invented. I bet if he lost the fat he'd give Ronnie Coleman a run for his money.

  • shitty form. fake shit. nigga if that was really three hundo his shoulder would have snapped.

  • LOL, apparently you don't understand that's picture perfect form for that lift. A skinny little inbred hiding behind a computer who's never toucheed a weight in his life should really go back to his mother's tit and STFU.

  • @IceVikingDeathGrip K, well who cares if the weight is real!? he should drop the weight down to 100 lbs and do clean form!

  • lol, you go try it then....let us know how it goes for ya.

  • @IceVikingDeathGrip yo if i went to the buffet everyday like this guy did im sure i could

  • @IceVikingDeathGrip you're a dick.

  • was it me, or did it seem like he had an awfully easy time lifting that up over his head?

  • hello mr anderson

  • @mondyraydbq90

More like "hello Mr. Anderson, we missed.... oh shii"

  • holy shit, how could his spine handle that. Insane.

  • Just imagine if he lived in our time with all the advancements in drugs

  • @qualemjones for sure! With our knowledge of proper nutrition, training, and suppliments. He would have been a monster. We'll... more of a monster than he already was.

  • The funny thing is that the food they grew back in those days kick the shit out of what we have today. More nutrients, minerals, etc......the whole works.

  • @qualemjones Exactly! I couldnt even begin to imagine what he would be capable of!

  • How can he still hold the record for the back lift??? The training, the diet and the steroids are better these days. This guy is proof that weight lifting is all genetics.

  • @MrAssassinful just wondering, you say that as a bad thing or a good thing, because thinking about it its a bad thing , if a person has all genetics it means they wont have to work as hard or even if they do - one without genetics will never be able to achieve the same thing no matter what roids/nutirtion he will use, if thats what you meant i agree , tho one person once told me u cant argue with the person who won and the person who has genetics :/

  • @muzimuzi Well I guess it's a bad thing because not everyone can be a bodybuilder. But you know, not everyone is made for sports. Some people just can't become an athelete, no matter how hard they try. You have to have the passion, the dedication and a bit of genetics. For bodybuilding you mainly need to have genetics.

  • @MrAssassinful yes i know what you mean, passion and dedication can be achieved with good mindset, honestly i dont even think its that hard to get its just a matter of 'getting used to" but genetics is so far impossible to change lol, if you were born strong you will prolly be strong if you were born weak... well thats a problam normally, and even if you take supplements it only enhances what genes you allready have

  • @MrAssassinful he was a freak of nature, in an awesome way lol. Id kill to have his genetics.

  • I can duck down and keep the weight in the air too!:P.

Impressive for even keeping the weight up there.

  • there goes my deadlift

  • @centy97 lol there goes my leg press/horizontal squat

  • @TimpBizkit hahaha yea

  • @centy97 ahhahahahahhahahahahah....its a dam shame

  • i don't really think that there will anyone close in terms of strength to this guy, what a beast

  • what if he dropped that on his face

  • wow he really makes it seem a lot lighter than 300 pounds

  • @dan13718 No, Fuck YOU. You weak little girl.

  • Comment removed

  • @dan13718 They didn't make steroids in those times:)

  • @OnlyUseMeTroll Are you kidding me. They has been used since early 1940's

  • @m5p944 Yes, but they weren't on the scale they are now, and they were mainly used for the military. The likely hood that he was on them is pretty bleak man....

  • @helltopay1 Get the hell out of here, troll, Paul Anderson is a legend, you are nothing! Show some respect.

  • @dan13718 It's not cheating when it's perfectly legal in their sports, idiot.

  • I cannot believe how smart some of you make yourselves out to be. Just shut the fuck up and watch this man lift an incredible amount of weight over his head with one hand

  • Now thats what a shakeweight should look like.

  • Comment removed

  • @dan13718 They may be drug addicted losers, but they'll still kill you and then skull fuck you cause you're a little bitch.

  • Fuck I missed it!!!

  • I doubt most people can even HOLD 300 pounds with both arms haha. This is amazing.

  • i bet he could do a bunny-hop on a motorcycle

  • That's more than I can bench

  • @eyesack9 Screw that, I'm 16 years old and weigh 165 pounds and I'm not even sure I could dead lift that much, let along this guy who can clean and jerk it with one hand doing 2 reps.

P.S. I know that last bit sounds kind of wrong. :D

  • @ttttttttttttttt515 hahaha!

  • @ApprenticeOfAnubis

But people need to less work in order to live longer and healthier lives, the body doesn't renew itself you know.

Athletes simply burn their candle at both ends, they rarely work past 35; hell Arnold had to retire from bodybuilding at the ripe old age of 28.

  • It looks like 2 5s and 2 tens on the inside and 35s on the outside with 10s inbetween. So, 35x6+30+30+ten to twenty pounds=280, give or take, which was what this dumbbell was REALLY reported as weighing.

  • @Draykid

Wow, in playlist? Hurrrrrr. Anyways, the bar and collars weighing 10-20 pounds. 20 pounds sounds ridiculous, but with 280 pounds on a dumbbell it's got to be a ridiculous handle and collars.

  • Now THAT is fucking amazing, even though it's mostly a trick.

  • Paul Anderson was a man made of Iron, with a heart made of gold.

  • BEAST OF A MAN IS THAT !

  • he doesn't push it up, he pushes himself down...

  • @phille22 You do it

  • @phille22

There's a technique to it, but it does end up over his head.

This used to be called a 'bent press" in the old days.

However there's no question that he lifted SIX THOUSAND POUNDS. He still holds the record as the strongest man of all time.

  • @postalmeter

No, this is a side press. It's much more of a brute strength move than the bent press. Look at Bob Peoples or Arthur Saxon for an example of a bent press.

  • @Draykid

You're right, I remember Saxon tricked Sandow into a bet to lifting a mercury-loaded bent press bar and bet him he couldn't do it; at least i think it was Sandow.

Saxton had practiced for a long time to lift the loaded bar, and then when Sandow couldn't do it he lost the best.

  • @postalmeter

The bar actually was heavier than Sandow's best bent press, I believe, so it's fairly remarkable that he succeeded in the lift insofar as he had.

  • @postalmeter 6000 pounds? proof?

  • Comment removed

  • @phille22

I take it back, Guiness book removed it for lack of proof.

  • @crazyboyxx

    name <crazyboyxx

    account info < troll account

sorry, you don't deserve a proper answer

  • technically, it's a bent over press (side press) done with a half-rep. bent over presses, also called side presses, were one of the staple lifts of yesteryear's exhibition strongmen.

  • Appreciateofanubis your a fucking retard how is organic food and polution.have to do with strength if that was the case why are people living longer? DON'T LISTEN THE MR.DUMBFUCK

  • @DragonDude180 no, primordial humans were faster and stronger than modern humans. modern humans being humans 50,000 years ago to the present.

But we can't really judge humans today collectively. some humans, such as people who eat healthy and stay active are stronger than most humans in recent history. where as some humans, say the fatass that eats at mcdonalds everyday, has to use a motorized scooter because he/she is physically unable to walk due to his/her size and underdeveloped muscles.

  • @MerritRenewing mcdonalds can be fine if you eat the right things there. it's funny how people claim that mcdonalds is so fkn bad, whereas you get lotsa protein there.

  • @jougetsu I agree. Insect protein gets a bad rap.

  • @MerritRenewing

Neanderthals were much stronger AND smarter than modern humans, but they needed more amino acids because they were primarily hunters-- whereas humans only need 10 amino acids, as they were primarily gatherers as well; so when the Ice Age came, the Neanderthals went extinct since they ran out of meat.

  • that wasn't a lift

  • @shade6787 that was a movement you will never be able to perform unless you stop hating

  • it seems we have a new steroidforloosers kind of guy xD

13 and incredbly cut what a name lol

  • haha hes lifting my weight

  • That's amazing.

  • @ApprenticeOfAnubis That can't be true. Purer food, water, and air, what does that mean? The pollution that most are not exposed to? I am sure in harsher times more people were living up to their strength potential because they were forced too. Strength evolves, it does not stagnate or regress. There will always be someone stronger, centuries of competitive sports and record keeping demands this. The only thing making humans weak is their own choice.

  • i saw anderson back in 1970.his show was awesome!he did several odd lifts and was informative and entertaining.i shook hands with him.although hard as bricks, his hands were on the small side.very powerful man and i believe the strongest of all time.kaz is great but anderson was bit stronger especially on the odd lifts.

  • @VikingII

guess i agree, when pressing he simultaneously moves his body down, making the distance the weight has to travel smaller. but if you watch the window in the background you see he still moves it quite a bit. much more than 2 inches

  • Ok so 13 said some foolish stuff..your all not seriously bashing a 7th grader are you? Man up.

  • @TheRockaway97

His arms weren't little, just short. Hence, better leverage.

  • jacky gleeson

  • Anderson had the right genetics to make him a strongman. I know farmers and such who never touched a barbell but are as strong as a bull.

Everything I ever read about him said that he was a decent soul. We could use more like him today.

  • @jamieA1A

Farmers work hard doing heavy lifting every day, so they could just be getting their strength from the type of job they have to do.

  • @13andincrediblycut i'd love to see you press 150lbs that fat boy

  • @13andincrediblycut Suck a dick bitch,

  • @gymguy25 lol

  • Was it ever verified that this is 300-pounds? Anderson lifts it easier than modern WSM competitors lift the 228-pound Circus Dumbbell. A full 300-pounds on a dumbbell is extremely heavy - look at a powerlifting legend like Kroc on his rows. What modern strongman/powerlifter can do a 300-pound one-armed DB press?

  • @gmanchannel2

I don't think any company even manufactures 300 pound dumbbells. If the one Anderson was lifting was really that heavy, it must've been custom made.

  • @logik316 ya it was

  • @gymguy25 ooooooooooooooooooooooooookkkkkkkk

  • that dumb bell is the size of my body

  • the secret to his strength. not listening to ppl tell him he cant lift that much

  • I first met Mr Anderson in 1967 at Ft Bragg NC he was a great guy and a Preacher. A lot of people did not know that. He was doing a strong man show for the soldiers about to go to That hell with rice fields and mud. Oh lost myself. He was big. Not tall about 5'8 370 lbs just a strong good man

    RIP

    MSG

    US ARMY (retired)

  • @MOAllen2

I always wondered why he was so low-key, most attention-whore athletes would be doing endorsements and movies.

  • @spawn039

there were no steroids for him to have. how do you not understand this

  • @kaptain0kayak actually steroids were made during world war 2 like 1939 or 1940 if i remember right and the first country to make them was germany they tested them on their soldiers but i doubt paul anderson couldve had any or little to none at all cus they were very hard to get a hold of and few people knew during his time

  • @kaptain0kayak

Steroids existed in Paul Anderson's time, but I don't believe any American athlete had knowledge or access to them then. Very likely, though, the Soviet weightlifters did, and probably with the full approval of their government. Paul beat them anyway.

  • @spawn039 you are talking rubish, there were no black market ways of geting it till the late 1960s,and there was no money in Olympic wightlifting then or now,in the USA ,the only reason the weightlifters from USSR and GDR ,got it was it was state funded doping,no weightlifters used it befor 1960 in the USA let alone 1950.and befor 1945 it was all Monkey Glands.and such like,it was not untill 1936 that testosterone was made synthetic, and about another ten years befor it was in use by Drs.

  • were would he have got it from? you could not get Dianabol befor 1960,he had nothing to do with any traing camps, and Testosterone would cost about $2000 at the time just to treat a Boy for Six months for late puberty, and he would need 5 time s that at he's weight.the man never had any money,do you think he would be training with 2 old oil drums,if he had $1000s to spend on Testosterone lol.

  • @spawn039 he used to get bulls blood from buchers and mix it with milk to get he's protein, and get he;s weights from scrap yards, were would he get the money to pay for testosterone, lol in those days ,he had no job no funding no coach,in fact the reason the Russians started to use testosterone was to try and beat Anderson, who they called a freak of nature, and he was.

  • @spawn039 you do not know what you are talking about, the reson why the Americans, devloped Dianabol, was because, they knew, the Russians were useing Testosterone, and it was offerd to Bob Hoffman,to use on the 1960 weightlifting team, but he said no,because it was to nere the Games, but other weightlifters used it instead and the rest is well known,Testesoterone in 1950 in the USA cost a fortune, there were no black markets then, remmber Anderson at the time could not afford to eat,

  • the man was a world and olympic weightlifting champ, the first time he whent in to a gym he squated 500lbs,4 years later with no coaching,he was olympic champ those are facts, and he did not need 3000mg of test a week to do it iver,

  • @spawn039 Because powerlifting as a amature sport, did not come about till the late 1960s,and they were just gym lifts done by bodybuilders, there were no benches with racks, no powerlifting bars no 50kg plates, thats why he used them trackter wheels to squat with, because you could not get more than 700lbs on an Olympic bar, without them bending, most gyms would not let him use them for squating.when he did the first 800lbs squat, which was an AAU record, they had to tape plates on the end.

  • @cypionate011 Anderson lifted 6270 pounds in 1957. Done in a gym with a standard bar and plates. BTW, no one has ever beat this record.

  • there is a good video of him from the 1960s,were he squats over 800lbs,after he's been tallking about god for 60mins no worm up, no raps ,no belt,no suit, no spoters,in cowboy boots and slacks.go's right down like it was nothing.no one now could do that, and this was long after he stoped lifting.he's night club act were he squated two 1160lbs safe's full of $9000,there were no spoters on stage, and if any one could do it they could have the money, a few tryed but could not get them of the stands

  • @spawn039 What are you taking about ?the record is 13 two hand clean and jurks.with 95kg 210lbs by Poundstone.with 3''diameter no one has pressed it one time ,let alone 260lbs,and Anderson did 350lbs one time, with this side press,Anderson had the perfect shape to lift it 365lbs only 5'10'' with 36'' legs and a 50''waist and hips, thats why he was so good at squats, only had to go down a few inch's and he's ass was on th floor

  • @QuinJ4U its doesnt matter lol... lets see you hold on 300 pounds abover your head lol... when you post the video of your funeral, tell jesus i said hi!

  • @TheHardTruth101 Not at all. Paul was absolutely a natural lifter. No steroids whatsoever.

  • The best thing about Mr Anderson is the respect that he shows for his audience and the equipment he was using. Even with such a mammoth level, he took the time and care to lower the weight, and not simply throw it onto the ground. This, as Tommy Kono once suggested, is vital in developing character. These days, that kind of respect seems unnecessary and unheard of.

  • thats funny im 16 im overhead pressing 90 lbs and this guy is 3x me 1 hand.. foreveralone.jpg lol

  • @buddahisfatlol faggot.
