  • I saw him once Outside Key Arena Following a T-birds game once. As a fellow player of the Great Horn, I just sat and listened and talked to him for a few minutes. And tossed several dollars in his pot. I hope Seattle puts up a statue of him one day! You are missed Ed!!!

  • ????????? this is kind of weird

  • @getchasumm

How could you say that? That is terrible. I hope you were joking

  • what happened to him??

    =/

  • He was beaten to death by 5 teenagers. 3 were caught but 2 got away. The teens that were caught were sentenced. Two were sentenced to 72 weeks and the other one 36 weeks, (he probably made a plea with the court to testify against the other two.)

  • i never even knew or heard about the man and his music but i still feel bad for what happened to him. RIP. Tubaman. Based on the sentences the teenage duchebags received he's just another great man the "justice system" has failed miserably.

  • nice tribute film! Good work.

  • I went to countless Mariners and Sonics games as a child. My father and I would always walk by tuba man and smile. It will never be the same Seattle sports scene without Ed McMichael. I still shed tears for the loss of this great man. RIP Tuba Man.

  • I got to see this guy in this summer. I gave him a dollar in quarters to do the 'Charge!' fanfare. He was truly quite something. He will be missed. :(

  • ill miss tuba man :( R.I.P.

  • " He represented the increasingly smothered soul of Seattle "

    The New York Times 11/14/08

  • This is really REALLY well made! Well, if we must- RIP Tuba dude

  • He's going to be missed. I feel bad for the kids who grew up seeing Ed outside the Kingdome and then Safeco and now Qwest. I was one of those kids. 30 years old now and I still remember him playing outside the Kingdome before during and after Seahawks games.

I also remember seeing him in the Seattle Center park playing away before during and after Sonics games.

I hope the individuals who caused his death are tried as adults and serve extended prison sentences.

  • Also I can't believe why a group of wanna be gang bangers thugs would take a human life only to obtain money or other things. How awful. I tell you this, this is exactly why I carry my pistol with me all the time. I look forward to the day when some thugs try to do this to me and they choose the wrong guy and they meet their fates. god bless ed and thanks for the memories and you should be the seahawks lifetime "supercharged fan". rest in peace.

  • This is really sad. A few years ago my friend and I were at sluggers near Qwest on some random evening. Ed was there and spoke to us about his love of the sonics and showed us his sonics championship ring. He was a simple man and obviously, alot of people liked him. I can't figure out how some teenage punk ass thugs can do this to a man like Ed. I hope they hang or rot in a gas chamber. we live in a county unfortunately where they won't face more than 4 years for this attack.

  • I would like to see a memorial built for Tuba Man near Safeco and Qwest Field.

I wish oneday that such sense violence would be ended.

They need to punish folks who do such terrible things, no matter what the age. These kids did know what they were doing was wrong, they just didn't care in a psychopathic way. They need to be locked up forever.

  • hahaha, couple of rascals the are.

    gonna miss you ed.

  • RIP Tuba Man

  • My prayers to him and his family. Seattle will never be the same and may justice be brought to the kids who did this. It just disgusts me that they would do something like this.

  • ed was an awesome man just so full of life. i saw him at the mariners games. tuba man you will be missed.

  • Sorry to be negative but I would like to see those stinkin' punks burned alive...

  • This breaks my heart. Thank you for the memories, Edward.

  • Thanks for all you've done Ed "The Tuba Man."

  • rip Tuba Man.Seattle is infested with street gangs and the Mayor and police chief are worried about plastic bags

  • @coolanddark The street gangs are nothing, it's your politicians in that city you should be worried about.

  • @mrceebees14 Its the progressive politicians in seattle that has led to rampant crime here. they and the feds would rather prosecute the police them the criminals. its fuking nuts here. believe me. RIP Ed!

  • Ed will be missed by so many people. He gave so much of himself to our city. What a tragedy.

  • What an absolute shame. Goodbye Tuba Man.

  • Thoughts to the family & the folks in Seattle...

  • RIP, Ed. You are a Seattle icon, and will be terribly missed. You did not deserve what happened to you. May I remember the smiles you put on our faces outside the stadiums time after time, instead of the way things ended. May God welcome you, tuba and all, with wide open arms.

  • LOved this video, loved Ed, he was so much fun to be around. Used to hang with him back in the 90s.
