Jewel had her own sound and she was amazing. Somewhere in the early 2000s she sold out to mainstream pop and then tried to recapture the better part of herself but went completely country and now pretty much sounds like all other female country singers. Owell music sucks these days so maybe when we have a renaissance she will too.
most artists changes sound and style as their career develops. she was trying dfferent stuff. i, like u, preferred her earlier stuff but more recent albums like GBAIW are good aswell. her "pop" sound was simply an experiment and didnt last long. intuition was lyrically very typical of jewel aswell. alot of songs on her country album were written around the time of POY so you cant say she changed to country.
i agree that the real jewel has fallen through the cracks. and that this version of the song desnthold the magic that the original on the peces of you albumdid. thi version to me is too spaced and uneven in tempo

This song always made me think of some pretty picturesque 1800's maybe Swiss or western mountain town and then when I looked at her bio I was sooo surprised to see that her grandparents emigrated from one of those places and her grandmother was a singer and stuff. I hate to even comment on her teeth but here goes; her teeth are perfect. There is ONE tooth that sticks out. Society tries to to tell us that we need to attain perfection...their idea of perfection. She chose, despite her infinite wealth, to retain her smile as it is, beautiful.

I read in an interview her response to everyones' criticism of her teeth. She said that if she dosesn't fix them, people will call her names like "snaggle-tooth", and if she fixes them, people will call her a sellout. So basically she's damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. But I do have to say that those are all excellent ideas. Very humorous.

Yeah I am actually a huge Jewel fan....especially the older stuff.
I just said that stuff about her teeth because she herself was making fun of them. In one commercial she uses her teeth like the jaws of life. Its super funny. Plus guys don't care if a girl is jagged tooth just if she has nice hair and tits. Well for me at least.............

Opening for Liz Phiar in Hollywood 1995 she moved everyone to tears with her lyrics & voice. Remember a lot of sweet moments spent enjoying this song back in the day with a special girl. Ooh to be old :)

This song always made me think of some pretty picturesque 1800's maybe Swiss or western mountain town and then when I looked at her bio I was sooo surprised to see that her grandparents emigrated from one of those places and her grandmother was a singer and stuff. This song is soooo pretty and delicate.
