Recently John and Michael's mother Betty Arena passed away from cancer. Michael was not even allowed to see her before she passed because of the nature of the crime he was convicted of.
Michael Arena's case is pending before the Supreme Court of Texas. He is still in prison in Texas in year 13 of his 20 year sentence.
John Arena's case has been taken on by the Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall's School of Law Innocence Project. John is not incarcerated but listed on the registry for life.
This 20/20 story was done in 2006. The boys were railroaded in 1999. Today 7/25/2011, almost 13 years later, injustice still reigns.
If the world knew of the Inhumane treatment, en mass in this country, they would be up in arms.. coming to the aid of Dehumanized Americans.
