FM Synth (Soundblaster) comparison using Monkey Island 2

I actually have soundblaster 1.5 and It's still pretty good! Gives back the old memories :)

That's the thing. In terms of playing the game with different sound options, Monkey Island 2 only has settings for PC Speaker, Adlib and MT-32.

The Pro Audio Spectrum also has an OPL chip, so it will sound just like a Sound Blaster or Adlib card.

Seems to me like the AWE64 Gold has less filtering than either the SoundBlaster 1.5 or SoundBlaster Pro 2.0.

Might be because the SoundBlaster AWE64 Gold does not use a real YM3812 or YMF262 for FM Synthesis(the YM3812 is used on the SoundBlaster 1.5, relabeled FM 1312 by Creative, and the YMF262 is used on the SoundBlaster Pro 2.0), but rather a clone of the YMF262 developed by Creative: the CQM YMF262 clone. It's not perfect, but it's not too bad. It's better at OPL2 than OPL3, though.

Yea it's very close between these two... To me the SBP 2.0 sounds a bit cleaner.

The SB 1.5 sounds the best in my opinion, but the SBP 2.0 is close behind.
