AMC has become unrecognizable from what it once was. OLTL is very well written and is doing relatively well in the ratings. ABC should, at least, retain OLTL and have some AMC characters move to Llanview. Since ABC likely won't change its decision, NBC, CBS or FOX should pick-up OLTL, at least, but preferably both.
they should have given the viewers the opportunity to pay extra to keep these shows, hell I would pay extra on my cable bill to keep watching these shows
ABC is making a mistake like they have never seen b4. Don't take something off the air that has been on for 42 years, they said 5 years ago they was getting 4.5 million veiwers aday and now its 2 million, they better be happy they are getting that many because when these shows are took off the air and what ever they put in there place im sure all the soap fans want watch that. Im sure in 42 years the had low raitings b4 and came out of that, hell if ABC would hire better righters!
I do agree with the posters that say AMC has had it's day.The writers will not produce one decent storyline.There could have been a decent storyline with Jesse's baby but no we get a downer,the baby dies,is replaced by another-sick! Then Erica is in a room with some wack-job.The show is very negative or it's only old plots.The writers need to be fired but it will never happen because Froms wants AMC gone.He's made AMC into something I don't recognize anymore.
@lowkeygoddess I agree they can cancel Amc because that show has gone to the damn dogs. Its like the people who write the storylines are retarded or impotent in terms of writing real dramatic storylines for a soap opera. OLTL is getting better but amc is gone.
@MANKATO311 they're epensive yes but that a bs line...how about those executives at the networks? They get paid lots of money to make fukked up decision. The genre is just like a primetime drama such as Good Wife Grey's and other drama that comes on in primetime either cable or broadcast. Television has gone to hell because we will continue to watch cheap scripted reality tv vs good original scripted television either serial drama, comedies or more...
The only Soap Opera that I got upset over because it got cancelled was: "The Edge of Knight", because that S#!T was Crazy!
In that final year they went out with a bang, the two main characters found out, after they got married, that they were "Brother and Sister"... and still went on the Honeymoon! then in the final episode, they both died in a Plane Crash.
Growing up as a young man, I would come home from school and my Grandmother would iron and look at all the soaps. Soaps are stupid, they turn womans heads into mush. Thank God for my Grandfathers Readers Digest in the basement.

Aw I wish it wasn't cancel it All My Children was the very first soap I started to watch and that's what got me hooked on soap and I started watching when I was in junior high now I'm 23 and still watching.
@cubicaljane Relace it with another trashy reality/lifestyle show. You see those type of shows are so cheap, that it doesn't matter if they get half the ratings of soaps. They almost always break even and have a larger margin of profit. I imagine however that they get better and more prestitious sponsors for soaps. I can understand canceling one soap - but TWO soaps at the same time.... AMC is doing poorly- not OLTL...
