You've got good taste in music. The music tracks you choose are much better than what VirtualTurbo chooses. I like the main menu for Dragon's Curse better than Adventure Island. I find it strange for a fire-breathing reptile to be called Lizard Man, but I guess it's only in the Japanese version.

No, it isn't, but you can see many similar aspects of this game to Adventure Island lige similar enemies(frogs, octopusses) and weapons(boomerang, hammer).
Also this was released as Adventure island in japan only, and renamed Dragon's lair in the US to avoid confusion with the "game with the fat islander".
It is confusing. Adventure Island/Dragon's Curse for PCE is actually an enhanced version Wonder Boy III, the name having been changed for the non-Sega branded NEC version.
there's a really complicated family tree of these games, especially since some of them share the same name despite being different games. but they are all related.

The Adventure Island you're talking about is called "Takahashi-meijin no Shin Bouken Jima" in Japan.
