WTF???!!! i'm nt an american but i can differenciate EURO-L and NBA.. EURO-L, i admit is a well-famed league, and i watch some of the games if it's availble in the television but NBA is "way" better than EURO-L.. and thats a FACT!
Diamantidis is not good enough to be in the NBA. He's too slow and too weak. He would get schooled by every average player in the NBA. Also the Euroleague teams would get blowned out by an average NBA team. The NBA is way way better.
If you look at friendlies over the past few years between EuroLeague and NBA teams it's been close to even (this is only 1 game). Diamantidis isn't the kind of player that would be a major success in the NBA, but plenty of NBA players have also gone to Europe and found the transition difficult. It's two seperate styles of basketball. If you're going to be a player in Europe you need strong defence and a decent shot, which a lot of NBA players lack.
the defense here in the NBA is greater than euroleague. also the level of talent, athleticism, and offensive/defensive awareness is greater here. the top teams here in NBA would easily beat the top euroleague teams. Easily
In N America the game doesn't fit their play. LBJ, Kobe, Wade, etc... These guys take up to 10+ freethrows a game. The NBA is so opposed to physical play. So yes, European defence seems weak in the NBA, but only because they are not used to the style.
In 07 it was 4-2 in favor of the NBA and only 1 of those games was by more than a double didgets lead. Also, Efes Pilsen, Malaga, Lottomatica Roma, and Estudiantes were LOWSY teams. Real Madrid, the only good team playing, won their match.

You cannot draw any conclusion from a friendly, indifferent match (the coach of Panathinaikos didn't even want/care to go there to play, there was no motive) .
Houston Rockets certainly would find it difficult to beat Panathinaikos under European rules , in Greece (Panathinaikos by the way wasn't even qualified in the best 8 of Europe) and of course Houston Rockets would most likely be defeated from the best European team CSKA.
There is of course some difference between the level of NBA and Europe, but not as significant as you are trying to point out. A European team that wasn't this year even in the top 8 level of Euroleague, was defeated in USA from a first round team, under the NBA rules (being totally unprepared to this style of game) big deal!!

Again: the point of using 2007 as the year of comparison was that this year the NBA teams did not face the European teams, so it was the most recent point of comparison. Looking all the way back to 2003 is a poor choice for comparison. The Euroleague has been inceasing in tallent and draw a lot over the past couple of years, especially with the strength of the Euro. In 2k3 the dollar was strong and the NBA was the ideal place.
this year NBA did face Euroleague. NBA went 5-0 in 2008. and 2007 NBA went 10-2. So the last two years NBA has gone 15-2 against Euroleague teams. You were saying?

That's so untrue.
The average box scores in the NBA are most of the time over 80pts.
The average box scores in Euroleague are usually under 90pts, and nearly always under 80pts when it comes to teams with great defenders.
The European basketball "style" is less athletically based than the American.
Both "styles" are nice to watch when it involves good teams.
