Lol, in response to everyone, yess the guitar is out of tune. I was like 16, and lost my tuner in the gigantic teenage mess that my room was... plus I couldn't tune by ear back then. I am probably going to make new videos soon, so if anyone is interested, check back in a bit. :)

I've played music my whole life on lots of instruments, taken theory courses and all that stuff, so I've developed a musical ear. My thought process was thinking of when a child first begins to learn an instrument (unless they're a prodigy), they tend to miss the fact that they may be grossly out of tune. If that makes sense. Heh

firstly, good job *thumbs up* its hard to play guitar and sing at the same time. When i try it, i find both my playing AND singing suffers. (not that either is brilliant, but still)

Secondly, u have a good voice, but project a lil more. I noticed at some times u seemed a lil quite, and i know that you're mimicking his technique, but honestly, try it just a lil louder, u will notice a difference straight away.

O.k. Breaking Benjamin is one of my favorite bands, so usually i'm a harsh critic when it comes to people playing covers. However, you got the basic rhythm down, your guitar sounds like its a little out of tune, which is probably what is clashing with your vocals(which are actually really good). So overall this is a 4 star rating from me.

Your guitar playing... a little sketchy. First of all, you need to make sure your guitar is in tune before you tape yourself again. Your voice sounded pretty good though. You should try it again after tuning your guitar correctly. It'll sound much better

I know its hard to sing and play guitar at the same time but it sounds like the guitar is a little out of tune. The song is downtuned quite a bit so that could play a part but I think the shining thing here is your voice. If I were you, have someone else strum for you so you can concentrate on your vocals more.

your strumming isn't that bad either.. but the guitar being slightly out of tune upsets me because it steals away from the fact that you def have a good ear and a good voice.

I'm not sure if this is the problem, but I lost my tuner, so I had to do it by ear.. I thought it was pretty close, so I just went along and did the video anyways.

anytime. i know theres lots of guys trying to pick you up so i figured i'd give some actual feedback lol.

downtuning that far is a big change in pressure on the neck of a guitar, so you have to tune it a few times when getting it that low.

Also, unless the strings are a thicker gauge they'll tend to slap and spike and not sound as good with a way lower tune. So if you do plan on doing breakin ben or other stuff downtuned on ur acoustic, you may want a 13 or 14 gauge string on there so they keep a decent tension even when tuned low.

And I'm not saying ur guitar playing was bad either, just that ur voice stood out more =)

I am not super proud of my guitar playing skills. I don't really care much about them. As long as I can play the basics of a song for me to sing to, I'm happy. My voice is what I prefer to use.
