Enough with this core vs CD. Crystal Dynamics saved the franchise in my opnion. Core wasn't doing anything to improve the mechanics of the old TRs. CD came in & made everything control much better, more fluid & nimble as oppose to Cores sluggish,handicapped tank version of lara. I loved what core did with the originals but CD makes much better TR games. The only thing i think needs improving upon would be the stories but besides that CDs TRs are completely superior. Now get over it & move on.

I rented Tomb Raider: Legend from blockbuser then I rented Underworld and in the begining of Underworld it said Previously and it showed Natla and I couldn't figure out where she was from. I thought I had missed something in Legend but I'm glad I looked here or else I would have gone back and wasted more money on renting it again
I like the old tr games better than the new ones. However, of the new ones I like anniversary the best because it reminded me of TR 1 and, admittedly, added more depth to the story that was not accomplished with the original. My biggest qualm is the scenes, esp. toward the end, where Lara is overly emotional about killing people. To me, this makes the game seem forced and superficial during those moments. The best parts of anniversary are the ending moments of Natla in her Atlantian form.

Angel of Darkness didn't bother me that much that one was more of a challenge for me really. I liked Legend alot but not so much for this one. It was pretty impressive about how they made some of the levels look simular to the 1st game. Natla looked like a mental patient on Underworld. I think that one actually was my least favorite. The ending sucked way too much. I hated that you couldn't kill Natla that pissed me off.
i have to say underworld is a good game though. i haven't played anniversary and was thinking of getting it but reading all these comments has made me think otherwise. the first tomb raider is by far the best to this day.

what is with everybody and Sophia Leight? she only appeared in tr3 in london. CD makes a great job with the graphics and all, but they can't make a long and hard game like core did.
Sophia was just original. I liked her. They could have done more with her if Crystal didn't get in the way. But Natla is my number 1 favorite, so I will stand beside the old Natla no matter what. Crystall dynamcs have done great job in my opion. I loved the original series. But Lara was getting more and more boring. Crystall dynamics made a perfect move with Legend. They made action game with no hard puzzles, pretty good looking Lara, user friendly controls etc.. This game ressurected Lara her self becasue new player started to play it. Anniversary was pretty good too... Underworld seems like another masterpiece..C. Dynamics are slowly getting to original TR gameplay Thats my opinion :-)
i didn't like underworld. whilst playing it seemed like they had ran out of ideas (amanda,natla ,doppie AGAIN?) Story in geberal was weak. But i loved Legend,favourite TR out of all.
With Legend, because they focused on combat rather then difficult and trial and error style puzzles. They doomed the game to have less replayability. Sure the Time Trials and collectible stuff is okay for replabability. But you would expect that sort of stuff in a full platformer like Mario.
I drastically preferred the original games. Though Legend and anniversary were alright by themselves. Though they felt more like Legacy of Kain style games through their gameplay (Especially the jumping)

I agree with you in saying that the classics did rule all, but I have to agree with Dan as well. Core pretty much punched out the same for the first five games. TR3-4 was the only time any majorish changes occured in the series, and even those weren't that big. I don't mind where CD're taking the series. They're getting better, and IMO it's not their fault their games have been mediocre, it's Eidos'
And Core mucked up with AOD, that was really a big flop. Though I love it, it still flopped

what is with everybody and Sophia Leight? she only appeared in tr3 in london. I've played all tomb raider games and CD just can't make a game like core did. i'm not saying that they are bad i like their games, i'm saying that they make the game way toooooo short and way too easy. i completed underworld in two days and for the core games i needed like a mounth to complete it. CD makes a great job with the graphics and all, but they can't make a long and hard game like core did.

Sophia was just original. I liked her. They could have done more with her if Crystal didn't get in the way. But Natla is my number 1 favorite, so I will stand beside the old Natla no matter what. But I think that Crystal Dynamics hand feeds you and they don't let you figure things out on your own the way Core did. And I think they suck because of it. I don't wanna be spoon fed... I wanna raid tombs.

ok. if core wanted to do more with Sophia they would have done something in tr4 tr5 or tr6. And i like core's tomb raider more, but i don't hate CD.
I used to like CD more but then i started playing the old TR again (now i'm playing tr3) and then i read your channel and all those things you wrote about CD are true made me realize that core is way better than CD. i don't really care about graphics and i played underworld with low texture detail, low resolution because my pc doesn't support it

I will never understand why anyone would like Crystal more. They are stupid, they are ridiculous, their graphics suck, their stories suck, they do nothing but make a mockery of Tomb Raider and what Core has done... Even the lyrics suck. I mean, nothing about that game could out-do Core. Core seriously needs to come back before Crystal fucks everything.

Crystall dynamcs have done great job in my opion. I loved the original series. But Lara was getting more and more boring. Crystall dynamics made a perfect move with Legend. They made action game with no hard puzzles, pretty good looking Lara, user friendly controls etc.. This game ressurected Lara her self becasue new player started to play it. Anniversary was pretty good too... Underworld seems like another masterpiece..C. Dynamics are slowly getting to original TR gameplay Thats my opinion :-)

i didn't like underworld. whilst playing it seemed like they had ran out of ideas (amanda,natla ,doppie AGAIN?) Story in geberal was weak. But i loved Legend,favourite TR out of all.

With Legend, because they focused on combat rather then difficult and trial and error style puzzles. They doomed the game to have less replayability. Sure the Time Trials and collectible stuff is okay for replabability. But you would expect that sort of stuff in a full platformer like Mario.
I drastically preferred the original games. Though Legend and anniversary were alright by themselves. Though they felt more like Legacy of Kain style games through their gameplay (Especially the jumping)

I agree with you in saying that the classics did rule all, but I have to agree with Dan as well. Core pretty much punched out the same for the first five games. TR3-4 was the only time any majorish changes occured in the series, and even those weren't that big. I don't mind where CD're taking the series. They're getting better, and IMO it's not their fault their games have been mediocre, it's Eidos'
And Core mucked up with AOD, that was really a big flop. Though I love it, it still flopped

TRU's puzzles are much better, the levl structure is more intricate level structure than Legend, Anniversary. If that's not an improvement I dunno what is.
Don't get me wrong, I love AOD, but you can't sit there and say that it's not bugged and unfinished. The controls and movements in AOD are by far the worst in the whole game.
