@unicornfairydancer No, it's a new Belmont called Gabriel. The game is a complete reboot of the franchise. It goes back to the liniar style of Castlevania like Super Castlevania 4. It's an amazing game, finished it already. The quest takes 16-20 hours to complete on Normal difficulty, tons of replay value, 45 different creatures to fight, tons of different puzzles and powers and a great (and I MEAN great) ending.

@Maliki321 It's a REBOOT, the sequel is already in production (and if you watched the ending after the credits you know why) and a DLC for Lords Of Shadow that will continue the story into the sequel has also begun production. So yeah, it's cannon but to a different universe. Just like Prince Of Persia: Sands of Time which had nothing to do with the original trilogy but became it's own series on to itself.

There's 2 Castlevania games in development. Lords of Shadows is one of them, the one your referring to is the other one. Only difference is Lords of Shadows is also being worked on by Kojima Productions as well.

well, after symphony of the night. castlevania hasnt really been that great. the psp version was ok, but bad voice acting and weak plot has plagued castlevania for a while. Not to mention that n64 version UGH! First game I EVER bought was Castlevania for NES, and I have played every one since. This looks to be the best by far. I hope its not too short and the ending isnt as lame as all the others. I think, behind Final Fantasy, this is one of the longest and best franchises out there!

Actually even if this game is really good, The best castlevania games are pretty much the 2-d ones. Dracula's Curse, Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow. They also have this atmosphere that the a 3-d game could never accomplish.
