I de-tune my magna traction with a file, just slightly on the outer most portions of the 7 contact points. Have never caught on a rail (well one, frontside but it was a sketchy down). Great on rails, even multi-kinks. Smaller size = lighter weight when spinning. Actually I am going to stop giving this board praise because I don't want to see every east coast gaper one when I ride at home.
magna traction (mtx) works well in the pipe yes, but this board is also available with banana traction (btx, i.e. mtx w/ rocker [banana]). I rode this board 110 plus days last season (I'm an instructor in CO). Anyways, I would no recommend this in the pipe if you have btx. However, as it is a stiffer freestyle board, it allows you to ride a shorter board for jibbing and even powder. I am 6' 180lbs and I rock a 151cm.
this board is ok. magne traction helps mostly with pipe, reducing vibrations, and supposedly with hittin ice patches. if your a chill rider its a good board, but if you enjoy jumps, jibs and technical stuff, look elseware
i am looking for a straight up JIBBING BOARD AND RAIL mostly, i do some jumps but the biggest we got is like 20ft tabletop. help me out. i am about 5ft 8in, i weight about 130-135 and looking to try and get a 147-150cm heres some boards i found 1.capita stairmaster 2.capita stairmaster extreme 3.forum manual 4.rome artifact 5.GNU street series 6.Ride Kink 7.Rossignal retox 8.NeverSummer EVO (i have) IF uw ant to just send me a message on YOUTUBE about what board u think i should get
there are no good reviews on Magne Traction at all. To me it looks like its gonna be nice for aggressive pipe-riders who need that extra edge hold but for easy jibbin and trixin it looks like its too catchy/edgey...
i have the 08 riders choice mtx but i find it super heavy and not very strong :(
