that's the shame that the sole survivor of this cab forward never returns to its rail once again. NEVER!
is this piece of work too delicate to return to the main line? is the marine fuel oil too expensive to run this thing? (it's born-to-be oil fired steamer y'know) or is it too dangerous to do the heritage rail lines for this cab forward?
youll like the UP 9000 4-12-2, great engines, pulling power, speed their only downfall is they were tight on curves. but they ushered in the challenger, so it did very well, and was used until 1953 in regular service, Ihave an article on when it ran an excursion from denver to cheyenne in 56, its final run.

@DiscothecaImperialis It oil fired, but the boiler is shot, restoration, for it would cost 3 million

There's also another Cab Forward still existing. It's just a miniature version of it. But it's real and you can ride on it.

@trainboy94 People can take turns driving trains there? You don't have to be an employee?

Did you film this on the same trip as you filmed Santa Fe 2925 & 5021?
ThomasRivette 2 years ago
No I filmed 2925 and 5021 2 months later

I wonder if their will restore them and put them back in running condition
chevydodge85 2 years ago
I hope they do, and if 2925 is restored soon, she should run a double header with 4449 to San Francisco, California.
