  • hey dude, you got some talents! nice playing, i like your playing style, man!

  • sorry if Im missing it but what distortion is being used?

  • WHat a bad ass sound. Inspired me.

  • lets kick guitar player's asses

  • Wow, amazing sr!

  • Bass players like the G string cuz it makes them feel like a guitar player :P

  • @cyrusjerome I like the B string instead. The deep bass sound makes me feel awesome :I

  • dude you're awesome

  • I normally never use effects in my playing, but when I hear this I think to myself "What have I been missing?"

  • i cant find this lesson on your site cann some one post the link or tabs or something ???

  • @R34PerRP7 It wasnt a lesson, just me playing.

  • @MarloweDK and have you the tabs for this godlike piece of art ??

  • I will buy this amazing pedal yesssssssss

  • my friend , you are one awsome bass player, saw some of your other vid's

why can't those (idol and talent) show's include talent like you rather than the singing

  • just put this rift on my favorite's list, awsome bass playing

  • wow!

pretty damn good in my book

  • where did you learn that

  • Now this is something I would like tabs for.

  • i think as a bass player, we can all agree that we love the G string

  • @sasukeuchihalb I like the B strings the best, especially when its dropped to low A, but sadly my stock pickup at my Ibanez SR300 can't really handle heavily dropped stuff, actually, it's not really a bad pickup, but it sounded pretty flat, especially at low notes, I'm looking for a replacement PU right now, anyone had tried the Basslines Active Blackouts for bass(ASB-BO)?

  • Amazing. :)

  • STOP! MY FACE IS MELTING FROM THE AWESOMENESS!

  • @7is7a ur retarded bass you FEEL and its harder to impress with

  • @trollssuckalot no it isn't who wouldn't be impressed at flea doing wat he does best lol

  • dude, please tell me you're in a band...^^

  • @7is7a oh great, another idiot saying someone sucks but have no videos of their own....FAIL

  • @MrSFblack A certain user called jewboy345 does that a lot. he even goes as far as suggesting suicide cos he thinks u suck. he has no videos tho. Only thing him and anyone like him has is a PC, Internet, too much time and a narrow mind with a pea sized brain

  • @PBL187 pea sized brain? u give him too much credit lol

  • @7is7a envy detected

  • @gabrirmachado no ... I play blues and what is the real ... bought a bass guitar moron

  • @7is7a Actually, it is a guitar. A bass guitar, to be precise. And the bass guitar is just as valid to be a soloist's instrument as the guitar is, if not more so.

  • nice

  • Somewhere up in heaven Leo Fender is groovin' to this.

  • It's realy lick guitare. ^^ Good! :)

  • DUDE THIS JAM IS MY PHONE RINGTONE!!!

  • why not just play a guitar?

  • @XtrmMcjohnson 'Cuz then it's not a bass, lol.

  • What gauge pick are you using here Marlowe?

  • Geez thats the best bass solo ever and sond as well, i mean it looks like a guitar.

  • it's bass, it's not a solo guitar :D:D:D:D You rock !!!

  • thats phat

  • man I don't know if I have said it before, but I love each and everyone of your vids. I like how you explore different playing tecniques and styles. :)

  • Nice dude :D Lyder næsten som Death From Above :D Fed distortion ;)

  • you fucking rules

  • Drums should be playing a 16th note beat... without any doubt.

    Wish I was there...

  • Great sound!!!!

  • stop....you're frightening me.......

  • 15 ppl think he is playing a guitar.

  • it breaks my heart to say it, but a bass with chorus and distortion just extremely sounds like guitar(at least the higher notes^^)

  • pleease marlowedk tell me what distor are u using i want that distortion!

by the way, i hear a little chorus? or am i wrong?

a guge fan from Argentina! Juan Francisco

  • @jfdamiani I think it was a "Rat" and yes with chorus too

  • @MarloweDK oh man now I really want to get my rat fixed! I went to play my bass through it for the first time to find out last time i used it with my guitar i broke the foot switch. The tone you got with it is amazing. I'm using a bass big muff right now that sounds really good but not nearly as crisp as this rat does.

  • @PutzerLovesYou The Rat looses bottom end though, so you need an eq too if playing live

  • @MarloweDK keeping it in a loop with a geb7 seems ot work very well.

  • what pick do you use?

  • Great groove. It's as if Nivana tried funk. I would love so see what you could do with slap & pop.

  • am slowly getting into jazz and funk and you sir are to blame!

  • what do you use for that awesome distortion? :D

  • not really "FUNK" but still rockin some socks off

  • to get this sound on bass do u think you need more of a bass fuzz sound or a preamp overdrive sound or both!

  • wow! this guy has many styles how long have u been playing?

  • Marlowe.....how many basses do you actually have?

  • what effects or distortions did you use?

  • It's too close to a guitar, but I like it.

  • The main riff you play that you improvise off of is amazing, nice vid man.

  • I'm still playing with my bass (Cort A4) on my guitar amp and I want to buy a bass amp, but I don't really know which amps are good. I like to have some effects, distortion and combo/top+cabin. What would u recommend me? (I consider buying an effect board so effects aren't really necessary on the amp ;p) Thanks in advance!

  • Hell yea!

  • how do you do power chords on bass?

  • @HouseHoldGuy1 with your fingers DUH

  • @bongmail omg lol

i mean, is it the same as on a regular guitar? *you can play with a pick too lol

  • @HouseHoldGuy1 I think he was referring to the fingers on the fretboard, so no, you can't finger power chords with a pick.

  • @Diffle lol do you play bass? cuz the tuning is normally EADG right? which is the same tuning as a regular guitar only lower so it seems logical that playing power chords would be the same. but i don't know

  • @HouseHoldGuy1 I was being a smartass, haha. But no, I don't PLAY bass. I'll pick up the bass every now and then at my friends, and from what I've been told, power chords are the same. But they sound bad on the lower strings like EA, because of the feedback I assume. I play a simple 3-5 power chord on DG though and it sounds fine.

  • @Diffle mk lol. that's what i've heard about bass power chords. it sounds muddled.

  • @HouseHoldGuy1 I've seen a lot of bassists play chords that look more like actual chords, and they don't sound muddy at all. Maybe that's the bass version of a power chord.

  • @Diffle probably. but i bet if you tried an E power chord, it would sound like crap

  • dig !

  • עעננקקקקקק ^^

    gorgeous............^^ wwooaaawwwww : )

  • groovy!

  • This doesn't sound like funk to me, more like a really long Black Sabbath bass solo. Which is amazing. I'd ask for tabs but this was mostly likely made up on the spot. Awesome.

  • dude, any chance of a tab for this, even something basic to give me a better feel (like a slow down?)

    amazing!!

  • who say guitar is better than bass

  • @supercaca12 Bass is better at bass noises. Guitar is better at guitar noises

  • @supercaca12 not me

  • i really dig this riff awesome job man!!

  • wat kindof bass do u use

  • Very impressive stuff man!!

    I would like an advice from you about bass amps, well mine sucks bassically^^;

Wondering if you have any tips on a nice amp and some good mics, I got the original mics on my Squier Jazz bass.

  • awesome sound man are u using chords? i think u r! also ur using an octavier arent u? oh jees man this is a fantastic bass riff did u make it up yourself. Like the little rock out devil horns at the end :P and one last thing what bass is that....?

  • marlowe what is better to use an octafuzz with wah for a doom metal solo or overdrive?

  • Dude! You're amazing

  • What pedal or effect are you using?

  • heavy and soulful-my favorite combination!

  • what kind of pedal is this? im looking for a good one.

  • That is some sick playing. (Y)

  • What is this the 50's? Playing with is way cooler than fingers bro, i dont see marcus miller getting laid as much as nikki sixx. It just looks cooler and sounds better. Plain and simple.

  • @OneMileRiot it all depends on how people wanna play no way is cooler or sounds better, but playing with your fingers gives a nice pop sound which goes great for funk bass also playing with your fingers is a bit harder than a pick

  • @OneMileRiot

I don't see Nikki Sixx in any of the ''Greatest bass players of all time.'' Lists. You can hardly ever hear him in any of motley crue's music. I'm not arguing with that people shouldn't use picks either. One of my favorites (Justin Chancellor.) uses a pick. I just didn't like the way you said that.

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6

    (Continued)

Besides he's not getting laid because he plays with a pick, he's getting laid because he's in Motley Crue! Which makes your points irrelevant.

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 First justin is awesome, ill give you that. But nikki playing with a pick makes him look cool, which helps in the getting laid process lol. This argument is irrelevant, their all probably getting laid more than the both of us lol. Hard to say that he doesnt belong on the list of great bass players. While his playing might not be that technically challenging, you have to give him probs on his writing abilities, which is just at important as being able to slap and pop at the speed

  • @OneMileRiot of sound.

  • @OneMileRiot

I'm sure every girl watching them going ''Oh my God, he's using a pick, that's so damn sexy! Let's fuck him.'' That just sounds stupid.

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 About as stupid as your argument is. Its an opinion, as you have your own. Now fuck off k buddy.

  • @OneMileRiot

Your just mad because I'm making sense.

Besides, most pick players names are unknown, because they don't really matter to the band. The only time they are made known, is when the band gets really popular, or they are actually remarkable writers. (Like Justin Chancellor, Dave Ellefson, etc.)

    P.S.

If it's just an opinion, then don't say your origional statement as is it were a fact.

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 lol whatever dude

  • @Beast6Of6Bass6 who care....

  • @vendetacos

    Why take time comment....

  • 11 dislikes¿ i guess deaf people didn't like the watch

  • this is how babies are made. *funkgasm*

  • you sir, are one of my inspirations when it comes to the four string....I love this distorted sound....fucking sweet.

  • I bet u r a guitarist :D

  • dude SICKK style man

  • what DIstortion pedal are you using? sounds amazing

  • lml to you to!

  • sounds like the tones smashing pumpkins used to try and go for in every song they had "heavy", except yours is better. lol you're sav at bass man, thx for the vids.

  • nice song! personally I prefer lower range bass work, but that just me.

  • yeaaa.....this is niiceeee.....kinda puts me in zone... :)

  • it's cool sounding, but please try not to use a pick on the bass it defeats the purpose a little bit.

  • @ChatterBoxBoy have you seen his other 747373773 videos where he uses his fingers? it not defeating any purpose.

  • @nightgrip yeah but then he's using his fingers, my point was using a pick, not fingers.

and i'm not critisizing him, i already made it clear that it sounds cool, i just prefer fingered bass playing

isn't the internet all about speaking your mind?

  • @nightgrip yes speak your mind all you want, but you said "please try not to use a pick, it defeats the purpose" as if he uses a pick in EVERY VIDEO. I mean thats basically criticizing.

  • this rules seriously

  • 1.33 --» All apologies by nirvana

  • @britochico I dont hear it

  • @blockmatix between 0.20 and 0.30

  • @blockmatix and he kind of repeats the idea at 1.33. There it does sound like all apologies

  • @britochico I guess I can see what you are getting at, very loose tho

  • wow man super coooool!!! hands down to you man! nice one \m/

  • So cool! :D I wanna play like that some day!!!

  • Really love it! :D May You can show/tell me the tab' of what you are playing :)

  • siiiiick, probably my favorite video of yours, keep it up, i havent watched a video i havent liked

  • that's great, you have to have great imagination and knowledge of your instrument to improv like that

  • man I like that!

  • Oh man thats cool I'm going to import your video into Cubase and Jam some funk guitar on that .Great technique and grooves you have in all your videos. Nothing better then bass .I have a 70,s fender musicmaster 3/4 scale but I can't get it to sound like that ...lol .Its the tone but most of all THE FINGERS .

  • loved the horns at the ending =D

  • man i'm subscribing!

  • The YouTube funkmaster rocks the house. Now THAT is range!

  • that s a guitar

  • How the fuck is that a guitar? You do know basses can have more than four strings don't you?

  • but this one has 4 if my eyes are correct i have an ibanez sr 750 and i love it

  • ibanez does make some pretty good basses, I have a friend who has the same model you do, it sounds awsome.

  • no its a trumpet...

  • LOLl!

  • you are a champ 20000 / 5 *****

  • sometimes i play with one of those thumb rings, or i like to put those fake rubber witch fingers on to play, it sound pretty cool

  • untill i saw this video i used to say

i dont like picks on bass.

i dont like distortion on bass.

Damn.. i was wrong! this totally kicks ass!

  • I loathe picks, but I must say, you half-inspire me to use one... only half-way, though. How long have you been playing? How old were you when you started? What was your first bass?

  • does this groove? YES! obviously its ok to play with the pick. the point of doing funk is not to "do it right", the point is to make music.

if your motive isnt to make music, your not playing funk.

  • you can play with what you want, it doesn't matter! personally, i use a pick with my band (cold wave), but when i'm jamming on funk, jazz (...) i play with my fingers! it depends what you play!

  • How good are you at bass? do you even play?

If you get a good sound out of your instrument then whats the fuss all about. at least this guy has a great talent and actually bothers to put vids up on here to entertain people. I dont see you doing that. I mean im crap but at least i try and ive done more then you.

  • well then why should it matter to you what he uses to play with, look at his other videos he can play with everything

  • But if this guy hadn't gone near a plectrum then this wouldn't of been produced and lets been honest, it's awsome!

  • @timbowalsh picks are for pussies... then why is there pick guards on bass guitars smart ass?

  • That was awesome dude!

Kinda sounded like "All Apologies" with a shitload of distortion.

  • woow!!totaly awesome!!

  • YOU ARE SOO GOOD DUDE

  • you inspired me man...

  • lol pause it at 1:47 you can see the marks this made on his fingertips :P

  • He was born with those grooves on his fingers, thats why he is so awesome on the bass. hahaha

  • is that the bass overdrive pedal?

  • nice bass its a fender jazz bass i think

  • haha dude if i see any pick haters ill tell em to watch this btw all pick haters are are just jealous people because they cannot play with a pick or just bass at all

  • I'd refrain from generalizing like that. I don't play with a pick and i prefer players who don't, though i understand it's the only way to get this sound from a bass. i however can play with one, as i play guitar as well. and i'm a very capable bassist.

  • Actually it's the other way round pal, besides it's a personal preferance which you use, I use fingers most of the time but for some songs you need that sharp pic sound.

  • Who's to say what "play with your finger correctly" means?

I think anything's okay as long as it grooves.

Watch at the other videos and you will see he is an awesome man on the bass^^

  • i can definetely play with my fingers correctly im very good at fingers and using picks i use both depending on the song it just really anoys me when ppl say if u play with a pick u must suck, and 90% of the people who say that are just pissed becuz they cannot play with a pick or bass in general

  • Doesn't matter how he plays as long as it sounds good dawg.

  • awesome!!!!!!!

  • which effekt pedal are you using?

  • check his profile, all the information is there.

  • Comment removed

  • Your fucking ridiculous!

  • Pretty bass good playing

  • but you get my point right? :-)

  • A Bass Guitar is a BASS Guitar.
