@viyark Ey, the reason they do this exhale is because it relases tension in the body when you throw out your hands. You try shadow box in the air and breath normal, not that easy is it ?. Your body will basicaly exhale a lil atomatic when u strike. So thats why they do this. In boxing and basicaly alot of other fighting styles they often do this. All styles have their way of preforming this, It`s nothing new ;)
Right but I think it's better to train the arm in speed first so you don't have to worry too much about it later on. But yes, all the power is definitely generated from the legs first.
It's a drill to teach you how to use your weight while punching. You have to use your legs, hips, and back and shoulders, then your arms for a speedy powerful punch. As he punches, he is moving toward his target. Some people punch with only their arms, which is totally wrong. tying the band to your leg pulls you slightly forward into your target. It's a good, but under-rated and under-used drill.
