  • I understand why you chose physics as the perfect major, but I would have to disagree that people believe it is the hardest major. When people hear someone say "I'm majoring in physics", they might think "hey, that person is smart." However, I get one of two responses when I tell people that my majors are Biochemstry and Chemistry. One is "...Why?". Those are the people who think that it is too hard to take on. The other, more common response is "Oh, I wish you luck in fallowing your dreams."

  • @nateslovebug Don't get me wrong; Biochem & Chem IS a difficult major, and if you know that you're definitely going to do that work, power and best of luck to you. :) I just figure, if you really want to go far in the bio/chemical fields, you're likely to need an advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.). You can major in Physics in college, and then get your Ph.D. in Biochemistry. :)

But, I sincerely do wish you luck in following your dreams.

  • good points. The hard sciences give one the best backround to analyze the world and can't be be subject to PC bullshit. It is or isn't. I think that this economic crisis we are in is not ending soon and the structure of the economy has changed very much. White collar knowledge jobs can be sent overseas with great ease just like manufacturing. Do young people need to be on campus getting into high debts anymore? No way. Learn about the world all your life.

  • Harvard doesn't leave you with that much debt. Better example would be New York University.

  • I like all this advice except for the physics part seeing as how I want to be a History Teacher.

  • @DarkHumorist Trust me when I say that you can be a History teacher with a BS in Physics. :) You can (and will need to) get post-graduate degrees to become a teacher, after all.

  • Like 1000 times over!!! I'm starting college in the fall at a state school majoring in physics! I plan on doing a double major in computer science, too, or at least minor if it's too much (but I think I can do it.) When I tell people "Yeah, my major is physics" they all say "wow you're crazy." It's very funny. Your video has inspired me to not worry so much about grades in college and instead do stuff. Meet people. Learn new things. Thanks!

  • I love this thank you so much for your advice. I will use it. I never thought it that way and i will be going to college this Fall. I will take your advice and be better off. :) I hope you make some more vedios cause they really help. Keep up the good work!

  • @grimreaperjx Thanks and good luck! :)

  • @grimreaperjx Yeah, I kind of wasted my college years. This advice is great. I'm glad that I minimized as much debt as possible. I'm still walking away with $25,000 in debt for a criminal justice BS degree, but that's it. I think that's pretty manageable, especially since I plan to go into the Air Force anyway. I might be able to qualify for things to help with that college debt. Plus, I learned much more getting mediocre grades in my classes than some of the idiots got hallow A's.

  • @coolio104 Best of luck getting into the Air Force, but I feel that I should worn you. The US military is pretty close to over-maned across the board due to the economy, at least at the enlisted level, and probably at the officer level too. My husband is in the Navy, and many of our friends are being pushed out before their contracts are up or not being able to reenlist. Also, sense you have a BS, you should qualify to be an officer. DO IT. It is the better path by far, or so I've been told.
