  • @gunblade186 I have added subtitles to this video which you can viiew at

    watch?v=sMnc7WDTwpk

  • See Chet doing drugs? They kililed him at age 58. Dont do drugs!

  • you can hear the french part without german with the right speaker.

  • is this chet baker playing at 1:22 ? and if so, what recording is this from ??? i got to know, cause it sounds freakin amazing!!! i love it!!

  • yeahhh

  • thank you for sharing this

  • he has sad eyebrows

  • He spoke French very well.

  • ha ha 5 minutes before all hell broke loose and the English invaded

and jazz killed itself...this music, this form, these people can never be duplicated...I am grateful to know their work and recognize genius...

  • the best part about this video is that it's french, overdubbed in german.

  • is there a way to get this but without the fking spanish or i dont know what voice that talks??

  • Comment removed

  • Thankfully, most Americans don't have your pretentious attitude.

  • Maybe people comment about heroin because:

    1. It is self destructive to use it

    2. Duh, it's illegal

  • why the fuck do people always have to comment about heroin rather than the artist himself and the creations he has brought forth ? I've spent hours online in jazz rooms and everytime Miles or chet, Bird and the rest are played, some asshole brings up their herion abuse. It just makes me sick how shallow people can be. Like the tune say's "It ain;t nobodys business if I do"

  • So true. People who don't have art within themselves tend to look for ways to discredit those who do, to pick away at them even though they enjoy their work much the way so many people thrive on gossip and negative publicity. Chet Baker lived the life he lived and what he put in his body can only dim in comparison to the art he breathed into the world.

  • If there's such a thing as god, it's probably Chet!! and BTW you have to be a dickhead to compare chet and miles, completely different music, style, feel, sound, etc.

  • You can absolutely compare the two.....they both got a sound out of the trumpet that the rest of have to just dream about.....Im talking about the later chet and miles....listen to "Once upon a Summertime". First time I heard it I thought it was MIles....love them both man..

  • Great, Thank you for this video

  • that wasnt no cig, the audio said he was toking! good to spark the jazz ideas with a capital J! :P

  • where is this part from?

  • I oftentimes perform the same Chet Baker In Bed thang, but with differences:

I floss my nose holes with skeddy noodles in bed,

I smoke cigs in bed too, but I put one in each ear hole, one smoke balanced on my right ear, and I wear a t-shirt with my spare pack folded in the left arm.

I mate my face to the bell of the trumpet, thereby ensuring an airtight butt-trumpet embouchure, and blow baby blow...

  • Chet Baker..the best there ever was!

  • So true! :)

  • What the hell are you doing, tweick. Leave some room to post for people who love Chet !!!

  • I love both of them. Baker sounds a little more smooth.

  • He has a spacial way to traduce jazz for me as love I think.

  • Have you transcribed every single solo chet and miles have every played? Do you know every note that's ever come through each of their horns? Do you know their individual concept of how the trumpet is to be played? Did you ever see either of them live? Did you know either of them personally? Are you Chet Baker? Are you Miles Davis?

    Lastly

Do you think real musicians make immature and obnoxious comments about other musicians like you have?

    hmmm..

  • FRANOISE ! utbe is a place to share, we are not 6, my bicycle is better than yours......

For the other watch the duo with getz in sweden 83 of my funny valentine, SUPERB ! available on double cd's

  • 'addiction is no disgrace, and im not afraid of dying young, as long as its for the jazz'.

i tried to post a full translation, but it wont let me..even when im under 500 characters.

  • My hero!

  • i remember chet

  • amazing

  • ma questo filmato è tratto dal film documentario di bruce weber?

Is this clip taken by the weber's documentary of chet baker?

  • very nice

  • fucking wanckers its not about druggs it is about a great musician, he was not a sorry junky he was a legend.

first do something great yourself or just shut up and stop making this sensation about something that is somebodys private life.

  • I agree. Mentioning drugs is absolutely irrelevant. Baker was a wonderful musician; a very kind and tortured man. Those of us who love music, shouldn't make remarks about his private life. Just enjoy his huge talent adn the swetness in his soul.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • You cant mention Chet wihtout mentioning the drugs. It was who he was... A great player.. Would have been even greater without a life of herion...

  • In my opinion, nobody do drugs just for the fun of it. There's always a very serious problem behind. If an addict does not harm society, personally I don't feel entitled to judge him/her. They have enough with their own misery.

Baker was known as a non-violent person. He was severely beaten sustaining severe cuts on the lips and broken front teeth, thus ruining his embouchure. He was brave and determined in continuing his career as from that time, he had to learn to play with dentures.

  • Another reason to hate heroin. RIP, Chet.
