I already updated to the newer sp40714 driver and now my headphone jack seems to be permanently disabled. I've tried uninstalling and and reverting to the old driver, but it is still disabled. Any ideas on how to fix that?
That is pretty awesome, I was wondering... my dm1-1110 speakers have seemed to just stop working and just last night my headphone jack has gone mono : ( any ideas how this could happen ?
Quite possibly, the headphone jack is mechanically damaged. It happens to iPods all the time, if your drivers aren't corrupted then this is usually the problem.
Yeah. it may sound off, and you really do need better external speakers to hear a difference. However if you have been using headphones with the netbook you will instantly notice an improvement.
The internal speakers on the netbook will only sound marginally (almost negligibly) better.
Just plugged it into my surround sound and this has made a world of difference, I can feel the double kicks through my floor!!! I cannot thank you enough. you helped me truly enjoy my netbook how I'd like. Companies can try and take the power from the users but we'll just take it back! any tips on tablets? I noticed you had WACOM in your registry and I'm having trouble with pressure sensetivity.
Which driver version did you install? This fix only work on the drivers that came with the netbook, and newer drivers have a way of making the headphone jack inoperative
Thanks alot for this man. I got my Hp mini for djing on the go and I wasnt able to use it well for djing cause of the sound but now its working great.

Sorry for the late reply, and I do have a wacom tablet, from 2001.... and it really sucks...
Your best bet is to get a tablet with a wired pen. the RFID one like the one I use is terribly inaccurate.

The headphone sounds better after this little fix, but i noticed the laptop speakers sounded worse. It's almost like muffled, not as loud as before.

That's because the built-in Equalization in the registry artificially inflated the higher frequencies as well.
