Why hate pop? I know some of it is manufactured garbage, but there are lots of skilled pop performers out there too. If you dig metal, so be it, just don't insult other genres. There are different people enjoying different styles. Personally, I enjoy all styles without prejudice.

That raspy voice that James had in his youth was as a result of singing from the back of the throat - which any trained vocalist will tell you - IS BAD!, it will eventually lead to all manners of problems which could eventually lead to surgery, His early voice was simply never meant to be used long term and unless he changed his style he would have to stop completely.

No heavy group has played more shows than Metallica, plus each night they play 2-3 hours. Most metal bands play 30 min to an hour, and most haven't been doing it for 30 years. Bruce is out cause he has no grit or growl. Max hasn't had enough shows or long enough sets, and Phil's voice wore out a few years ago but has gotten a little better. And people all age differently too.
