  • Hey sweet system!! The best I've seen yet. I like how u recycle the water with the element. Did you build your controller?

  • sweet vid dude! Makes me really wanna have my own RIMS!

  • Nice system man.

  • You use the shark bite fittings from the outlets on the pump just wondering if the rest of the pvc piping is just push fitted or is it glued together

  • You use the shark bite fittings from the outlets on the pump just wondering if the rest of the pvc piping is just push fitted or is it glued togther

  • What grain are you using to get over 82% efficiency? I've never seen a barley malt that was over 82% extract.

  • Hey Billy,

great Videos man!! im going to building something similar.

My question is how do you make the false bottom? do you have a video on how that is made>?

    Thanks ..big fan!!

  • Wow. This is a pro setup. Hats off to you. Gave me so much to work toward.

  • Very cool,great design!

  • Anybody know what kind of heat controller that is?

  • Hey Billy. Great video! You said that you started out with 4.75 gal of styke water in the brew kettle. The you mashed out with 4 gallons. What was your finshed batch size going into the fermenter. It sounds like 4.75+4= 8.75. Did I understand correctly? Thanks. You RIMS brew rig is nice. Thanks!

  • @REGreenTeam

There will be losses from the following: 1. grain absorbing water 2. equipment (kettle deadspace, hopback losses, counterflow chiller losses, etc) 3. evaporation during boiling of the wort (15% per hour is rough estimate) 4. fermentation losses from hops and trub

I usually start with approx 25 litres at the start of boiling and transfer 19 litres to my keg after fermentationa/conditioning is complete. Hope this helps.

  • Good job and nice set up bro

  • Great video, do you use a screen ahead of the therminator?

  • Question Billy,

How much is it to build or buy a complete heat stick and controller? just that part of your system? in American dollars? lol :P

Thanks, I love the videos. keep um coming ...

  • I had $230.00 us in the PID and heat stick. march pump $135.00 us. hundreds of gallons of home brew priceless!!!!!!1

  • Hey Billy Thanks for the fast reply...

    My next question are:

    1. Did you build it yourself? any plans?

    2. Did you purchase it? and/or where?

    3. You stated "HAD" is it now gone??

Where can I get one ?

I have a propane system now and want to convert to an electric controlled system but what to make something that has been tested and working for a while. Need plans got any???

Thanks for all your help in advance, keep brewing :P

  • Yes I built it myself Not using and plans.I still have everything!! and I'm brewing every chance it get. Going to make a stout soon. maybe a new video on how my system works?????

  • Well great job on it! got a video on that?? I'm sure a lot of folks would love to know how you did it!!! plus I know your fans would. (smile) I have been searching & searching but can't seem to find a good link, any suggestions?

  • Nice setup! Where did you get that controller?

Do you have any trouble with wort burning on your heat element?

  • Thanks for sharing. I've been searching proof of concept for a heat stick-in-a tube for recirc, step mashing, mash out etc. Looks like it works!

    5*

  • Man this video makes me sick...I wish I could build one of those. Great setup!

  • So how come you don't sparge? Are you a no sparge brewer or is that common with RIMS systems?

    Awesome set btw!

  • HI, and thank you. I "batch sparge" and I get 80% to 82% efficiency.RIMS systems can get a higher efficiency.

  • Hey Bill, sweet setup, where did you get that controller? or did you make that thing yourself? Any plans you can share to us common folk? Are you adding and new videos soon?

  • Nothing beats brewing in sweats and slippers!

    Great set-up, man.

  • I think you may have over-pitched that batch. I would've only used about half that slurry, especially since it was as fresh as it was. JMO.

    +1 to your system!

  • Very clean setup. Few parts, small footprint, great for the garage.

  • BOBBY THANK YOU, BUT i get great efficiency i'm @ 80% to 82% efficiency.AND yes i do just run off my first running as fast as it will come out.

  • Hey Billy. Really nice system but I have to ask what kind of efficiency you get without sparging. I'm guessing it's got to be around 60%. I know it's the simplicity you're shooting for but just draining off your mash into a bucket prior to adding that additional water would really crank it up for you.

  • BOBBY THANK YOU, BUT i get great efficiency i'm @ 80% to 82% efficiency.AND yes i do just run off my first running as fast as it will come out.

  • How is that possible? Is it because you recycle enough times?

  • Well "RIMS" systems have very good efficiency if there sst up right...

  • Hey! billy d its joe how ya been ? sweet set up looks like ur doing good in the whole brewing business if you havent heard the store got broken into and my dad gave me the orion van im dropping a 350 in it when summer brakes .. so give me a call if you get a chance 330 9795615

  • thats one hell of a sweet setup!

  • Hey Bill, sweet setup, where did you get the rims controller? or did you make that thing yourself?

  • ok... i am an idiot, looks like you indeed did open the garage. nicely done sir.

  • sweet setup man. but if you are using natural gas, i would advise opening the garage door at least 2 feet and a fan to push the air outside.

  • You use your old yeast? I was think about doing that but it has a lot of other stuff at the bottom of brew bucket.
