  • I guess I'm the first comment in a while. I wouldn't say this is better than Led Zeppelin, but Heart did the song a lot of justice. Then again, Heart has always been one of my favorite bands.

  • Dear sir,

You have the wrong DP credited for this video. I'm sending you an email with correct name.

    Thank you for changing it.

  • Best cover of this I've heard. Doesn't tingle the spine quite like Sandy Denny, but pretty good all the same!

  • much better than the zep version. sorry dudes.

  • Every led zeppelin song the sisters have ever covered has been amazing and that is because ann has an absolutely incredible voice that is oddly very close to robert plants, and also nancy absolutely RIPS on guitar.

  • @shane31lv Nancy also has an awsome voice. she does Sandra Denny's part in there flawless & thats a tough act to follow.

  • I saw them do this song on the concert for the R&R Hall of Fame and I was floored. Just the 2 of them with a guitar and a mandolin. I'm a huge Zep fan and I normally dont care for cover versions but I think the Wilson sisters made this song thier own.

  • I need this intro for my perfect ringtone.

  • Nancy sounds so much better than Ann anymore...go ahead and hate the truth.

  • To me this song is amazing. How haunting a woman's voice can be, the emotion, the strength. The acoustic sound taking you to another time.

  • Ann and Nancy killed this song. :)

  • this is the tune I want to be able to play on my mando.....oh well, looks like a bit more practise is in order! Wonderful version from the girls

  • THIS VERSION SIMPLY SUCKS.SORRY ALL YOU HEART FANS.

BUT YES,NOBODY SHOULD COVER THIS BAND AT ALL.

  • @gibsongold1970 I totally agree with you, gibsongold1970. The girls can sing - but please - stick to your own songs and leave Led Z's alone. Please.

  • @Lonestarry What's the deal? Lots of good covers out there.

This is one of them! It's good, but not an identical copy.

  • @gibsongold1970 sorry that you can't appreciate a good song.

  • without a doubt , i love this version better. i can listen to these ladys ALL DAY !!!

  • Beautiful cover, girls rock.

  • Epic.....

  • totally

  • love the twin mandolin and twin guitar sound. Almost sounds better than the original...almost

  • The former are pre zep... they just re-habbed it.... always the finger / voice breaker regardless and I bet if there was a playoff the girls would win....

  • the former are the first ... I love Zep but the version of these goddesses..Ann and Nancy Wilson are great and show it in this version are the band of my adolescence and eternal ...

  • as much as i like the wilson sisters, and i DO like this version, I don't think anyone can improve on Plant's and Sandy Denny's vocals on the original.

  • This tune was written by Page while he tinkered around with John Paul Jones' mandolin. The words were written by Robert Plant.

  • But didn't Jones play the mondolin live?

  • good job but nowhere as good as LED ZEP . If you think this is as good as ZEP then you are delusional

  • @gsxrkz Well, gsxrkz, Since Plant has been steadily losing his pipes from screaming all these years, IMHO, Ann Wilson and her sister have what it takes to perform this song now, better than Plant does with his current voice. Sandy Denny was the vocalist back in 1971 when they recorded this and did not tour with Zep. She died in 1978. The debate will continue as Ann Wilson is one of the best rock vocalists, ever.

  • Well silverstox Yes , you are right but I was referring to when Robert was in his prime, when there was no denying that he was the Greatest!!! singer in rock history, and yes Led Zeppelin version of the Battle of Evermore absolutely destroys this and any other version of this song and Ann Wilson and her sister would agree with out question

  • @gsxrkz no argument there, Plant had one of the best rock vocals, ever. And from what I've read the Wilson sister were heavily influenced by Zeppelin, so there ya go.

  • you got that right sister, but I must correct you on one thing, you said Plant had one of the best voices , but he had the best voice in rock history, not one of

  • Zepp covered this so who is covering who?? LOL! They are great! Dang this song is a finger breaker to play! My Uncle used to play it and I would try but I could only do basics! Whoever wrote this is a genious! I know Zepp changed it, so I am guessing they added the zing of the beat, etc. It seems that most of the music originated from pre 40's?

  • Pretty much any cover that these ladies do is better than the original. This is amazing! Ann Wison can sing the phone book.

  • I am a huge Zepp fan & as such, am usually skeptical of any band doing justice to their work, but I must admit, these women actually hit it so damn well--this song is a true classic and a pure joy to hear their rendition of it.

  • I have to say that this is one of the most well-written appraisals of this song here. You've managed to show great respect to both versions and still shown your true love of music.

    Thank you.

  • @LedZeptheBestEver

I think I once read that they started out as a Led Zeppelin cover band-- back before anyone heard of them.

  • insanely awesome cover that surpasses the original..

  • I Never think a remake is better than the

original.I spoke too soon. This kicks ass!

  • This is probably the best cover song i have ever heard...not just of led zeppelin but of any cover song...well done

  • I love it!!! This is probably the best Zeppelin cover I've ever heard !!! I think the Wilson sisters do a great job..No it's not better than the original but I give it thumbs up!!

  • you always have my heart girls!!! you sound as great as ever- I'm sure the great Led Zep is smiling on you... Peace always!!!

  • Sweet

  • lovemongers....

  • I saw The Lovemongers perform at the Mount Baker Theater in Bellingham, WA back in the early 90's and they opened their show with this song. Honestly, I was blown away!

  • I believe this cover is better from the original due to the fact that the vocal blend between Ann and Nancy has a pureness that "thickens" naturally, exactly where it needs to be....aside from being KILLER musicians, able to play with the skill that Led Zep did, there is a specific passion the ladies give to this song that Zep missed.

  • I concurr.

  • I just purr

  • I disagree. How can you not love the pure beauty in Sandy's voice? It complemented Plant's voice perfectly. I guarantee the Wilson sisters concure. Taking nothing away from this great cover. Yes, Ann is the greatest singer possibly ever in rock but Sandy was something terrific. Peace on,,,,,

  • This is the third comment I've left on different Battle of Evermore videos by Heart on YouTube. I've also purchased it from iTunes because I can't get enough of them doing this song! I completely agree that Heart's version is better than the original. And that takes a lot from this Zep fan to say! IMO the best Heart version on YouTube is from SeattleBoy where they are performing it at the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.

  • I agree, but I think it has more to do with the fact that I heard the Lovemongers version first.

  • your dreaming wake up, as good as ZEP never

  • Wow you guys really did this song justice.

  • best cover of the song ive heard on youtube, awsome! I know zeppelin was a huge influence on heart. God this is such a great song whenever i listen to it, it always takes my mind to another place.

  • Amazing. Heart can really cover Zeppelin; especially this song, but I still like them better on their originals; still, their 2 voices blend so perfectly on this!

  • this is super....you should hear what they did to Stairway to Heaven

  • My wife just surprised me with a mandolin for my birthday and this was the first song I started playing.

  • Yeah their stairway cover is fucking awesome, have you heard them do Black Dog?

  • Yes I have, I now own the Live in Seattle DVD and they do a few covers at the end. Awesome stuff, I think I wore the thing out by playing it so much.

  • Unbelieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeevable!

    These girls can bring it!

I agree w/past poster, they should do an entire album of Zepp Covers.

  • Yeeeeaaaahhhhhhhhhh!!!!

    {holds up lighter}

  • wow!

  • I wish they would do an entire album of Zepplin covers!!

  • im waiting for the angel of avalon

  • Freakin AWESOME STUFF!!! HEART TOTALLY ROCKS!!!!!

  • I know that the Wilson sisters are from Seattle but were they accepted by the grunge bands from that era? Wasn't one of the motto's of grunge "death to dinosaur/jurassic rock"? Any info would be useful.

  • They are true Rock Royalty! Universally loved, no matter what you play! Seattle always brings the best!

  • Heart was actually a major influence on a lot of the grunge bands.....Ann Wilson sang on a few Alice in Chains records and I know Chris Cornell has collaborated with them too. They are looked up to the grunge scene the same way Led Zeppelin, Kiss, ACDC, etc are.

  • very true. in fact layne staley(alice in chains) said heart was the first great band to come out of seattle. most of the "grunge" bands that came out of seattle would probably agree and were all influened by heart.

  • Nothing against Zeppelin, but this version is killer. Better than the original IMO.

  • Normally, I'd be so dead set against bands covering iconic songs by iconic bands. I can't say anything bad at all about this cover, not a thing. They captured the feeling of the original, and added a very special twist. Well done Heart, errr, i mean Lovemongers :D

  • I totally agree. It took a ton of guts for Heart to remake a song like that, but they truly did it justice.

  • I've been listening to this song for 15 years now, and I just found out this was Ann and Nacy Wilson.

  • Yup me too. Still rocks tho.

  • i always lovesd that soundtrack... and specially this songs... never heard of this video..

    loved it

  • god i love these girls...i wish they'd give some lessons to the shite acts that are out nowadays

  • Beautifully sung, I love this version.
