Slayer is a prime example, Paul Bostaph replaced Dave Lombardo and he was more technically proficient than Lombardo was, but Lombardo has a certain wildness to his playing. Everyone knows Lombardo > Bostaph

This guy happens to teach my older brother drums. My brother tells me that Jimmy can play pretty much any style, from Rock/Metal to Jazz to Funk to Latin, and that he's a great teacher and all-around great guy!
oh and by the way the cymbols he chose seem to flow so excellently with his own excellence, as they sing and scream powerfully in key like manners! Paiste is my fav!
Jimmys such a professional on the instrument, youll never see him using bad technique or playing silly junk, he also doesnt wear out drumming like lots of drummers to by playing to much time as solos, in solos he rarely plays things that can be metered, he mostly only plays time when hes playing behind a band but you wont see him play a beat like danial adair or kenny aronoff, Jimmy is a flawless machine like player!
jimmy is fucking amzing, ive watched so many drummers play, but jimmy is like a near modenr day buddy rich his rudimental vocabulary and rudimental combination prowess seems limitless and emmense his timing is solid hes powerfull exumes excellent technique and flows very very well, the stuff he does here in this clinic is better than many pro drummers solos, and this is just a clinic when jimmy solos other drummers must seek shelter to avoid looking bad!
that time groove he breaks off into after the organized rudimental slams is a modified jazz groove that he must have got creative on its a basic 4 note in the bass with with 2 left alternating notes which would form a triplet which is another jazz figure, he alos plays the hi hat with the left bass to form a pule on every 2 and 4 and accents up top on the toms!
His prhasing is unmatched by most and thats saying alot considering hes keeping everything else I mentioned happening along with the excellent phrasing!
jimmy gathered alot of buddy riches qualities, jimmy was highly influenced by buddy, you can see it and hear it in his playing, he has excellent techniqie, alot of speed and pwoer is smooth and clean sounding, and most of what he does is aalot of number figures and dazzling organzied rudimental combos just like buddy did, in my opinion Jimmy is one of the best drummers living!
I have many drum videos featuring many drummers and Jimmy by far has the best prhasing and most professinal sound in his playing, This is the type of drumming I admire, excellent technique clean powerful intracite and flowing!
Would anyone beleive me that my drum teacher taught this guy? I'm not joking. My drum teacher is like 60 right now. He said he taught Jimmy for like 4 years. Jimmy then moved to California, went to Pit, and later joined Ozzy.
actually Jimmy opened his own drum shop not too long ago down in So. Cali. Lot's of people don't know he also played with Ozzy during Ultimate Sin tour and played with Alice In Chains with 3 minutes notice before going on before because Sean Kinney was so flu sick and he nailed the set with no hitches. Possibly one of the best drummers to be living today.

jimmy is fucking amzing, ive watched so many drummers play, but jimmy is like a near modenr day buddy rich his rudimental vocabulary and rudimental combination prowess seems limitless and emmense his timing is solid hes powerfull exumes excellent technique and flows very very well, the stuff he does here in this clinic is better than many pro drummers solos, and this is just a clinic when jimmy solos other drummers must seek shelter to avoid looking bad!

that time groove he breaks off into after the organized rudimental slams is a modified jazz groove that he must have got creative on its a basic 4 note in the bass with with 2 left alternating notes which would form a triplet which is another jazz figure, he alos plays the hi hat with the left bass to form a pule on every 2 and 4 and accents up top on the toms!

jimmy gathered alot of buddy riches qualities, jimmy was highly influenced by buddy, you can see it and hear it in his playing, he has excellent techniqie, alot of speed and pwoer is smooth and clean sounding, and most of what he does is aalot of number figures and dazzling organzied rudimental combos just like buddy did, in my opinion Jimmy is one of the best drummers living!

I have many drum videos featuring many drummers and Jimmy by far has the best prhasing and most professinal sound in his playing, This is the type of drumming I admire, excellent technique clean powerful intracite and flowing!

Would anyone beleive me that my drum teacher taught this guy? I'm not joking. My drum teacher is like 60 right now. He said he taught Jimmy for like 4 years. Jimmy then moved to California, went to Pit, and later joined Ozzy.

actually Jimmy opened his own drum shop not too long ago down in So. Cali. Lot's of people don't know he also played with Ozzy during Ultimate Sin tour and played with Alice In Chains with 3 minutes notice before going on before because Sean Kinney was so flu sick and he nailed the set with no hitches. Possibly one of the best drummers to be living today.

Jimmy Degrasso had some of the most fantastic phrasing of any drummer Ive seen his drumming fits together so nicely and evrything seems to have perfect cadence, Few drummers have that ability, Ive noticed neil part doesnt have that he plays solos then they seem to fall apart!

LOL!!!!!! You're comparing Jimmy DeGrasso to Neil Peart. Neil Peart!!! It's called dynamics dummy. You have a right to your opinion, but let's not get crazy. Neil Peart basically created the so called structured rock drum solo, besides Bonham, and Bozzio. Pearts solos have motif's, dynamics, and space. Peart's solo's have their own language like Bonham, and Bozzio. DeGrasso solo's are all over the place going nowhere. You are funny kid, I will give you that.

This guy is good, but you kids really don't understand drumming, nor are you very educated. Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta, Simon Phillips, Tomas Lang, Virgil Donati, Steve Smith, Terry Bozzio, Bill Bruford, Billy Bobham, Marco Minnemann, Carter Beauford, and Neil Peart are master drummers.

just becasue those guys are masters doesnt mean Jimmy isnt, Jimmy just hasnt been in enough media outlets to expose his expertise, I only like a few of the drummers u mentioned and some dont even seem close to as good as jimmy like dave weckl that guy is no wear near as good as jimmy, Marco has amzing independence and interdependence but his prahsing sucks! Virgil is one of the best but can get boring and so can tom lang even though hes amzing as well!

My advise to you is don't judge drummers who have completely different techniques. Buddy Rich did his own thing and he was the king at it.

Jimmy Degrasso is amongst my idol drummers wich include david silveria and kenny aronoff! People always talk about buddy rich being so good but I think he sucked all he had was speed nothing else! Jimmy rules!
