  • This is my Queen of Soul &I do not care who likes or not!!

  • Yess!!

  • Soulful Mahogany Soul @ it's finest!!!!!

  • I can't take it !!

I must have listened to this song at least 20 times today.

They are sing LIVE!!!!!...The band is smoking..The BGV are so clear.

And Gladys is SLAYING this tune.

It's VERY rare when a LIVE performance exceeds the original recording.

Gladys & the Pips Killed on this tune..

Listening to this particular performance made me appreciate the Pips EVEN more.

Those brothers are BLOWING on the BGV !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is the BEST performance that Glayds has ever did.

This video is very VERY rare...This show was directed by Stan Lathan (Sanna Lathan's father...Stan also produced the "Fresh Prince of Bel Aire).

The Legendary DJ, Mr Gerry Bledson (From NYC) did the voiceover

Stan Lathan also produced this LEGEDARY concert

The 1973 Save The Children Benefit Concertildren

Check it out when you can !!!!

  • I think She was or is just as bad as Mrs. Franklin!!!

  • This is from the pre-PBS New York TV show "Soul! from February 9, 1972, where Anna Marie-Hosford (Thelma Frye on "Amen" and Dee BAxter on "The Wayan Brothers" got her start as assistant producer). One of the writers of this song was Katherine Anderson Schaffner of The Marvelettes. Another excellent version of this song was done by fellow Marvelette Ann Bogan when she was part of Love, Peace & Happiness (a division of New Birth) along with Leslie & Melvin Wilson (also on YouTube).

Interestingly enough, one of the writers of this song was Katherine Anderson Schaffner of The Marvelettes. • A tutorial in singing with genuine conviction. Can't get enough Gladys.

  • My dad loves this song !! Beautifully sang and i wish it was better quality to it

  • Are you f*ckin' kiddin' me? Sing that song Gladys!

  • This is from the PBS series "Soul". It was produced by Anna Maria Horsford of "Thelma Fry" fame. This was before her acting career took off.

  • Gladys and the Pips are right up at the top of the list of the greatest vocal groups ever. Only a couple of other women have ever had the vocal Soul Power of Gladys, and these days there aren't any. Beyonce? Not even close. On top of it Gladys was so beautiful, both inside and out, that she actually glowed!

  • I absolutely LOVE this song! Gladys is one of my favorites!!!

  • Yes New Birth has a version just as good. It is simply a beautiful song. The only thing you need is a great vocalist.

  • I like the New Birth version better.

  • God, I love this song. Everytime, when I used to play this song, I sing right along with it.

  • Have you heard the "New Birth's" version?

  • No, I haven't heard that "New Birth's" version.

  • i just can't help myself!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The greatest fermale singer of all time. The Empress Of Soul!

  • Sang Empress Sang!

  • good lord, better than the single

  • This is singing!!! Good Lord!!!

  • Have mercy!!!!

  • OOOOO! I dont wanna do wrong, but its been so long. I just cant help myself!

  • N - I - C - E ! ! !

  • Ms Knight can blow!!! I was in jr high and in love with a girl who i just couldn't get...until i was in my 30's! 1971 she let me slow dance with her to this song...

  • and ..... don't stop there!

  • Gladys is the best and the Pips are bad-ass.

  • woe now. she did the thing.

  • I can't get enough of this song and the "Midnight train to Georgia"

  • Gladys reigns.

  • Sista Gladys is what soul music is all about. However, Anna Maria Horsford is the same woman that played Dee. If you are speaking about the character from "What's Happening", that was Danielle Spencer.

  • I Just Read My Post And I wanted To Correct Myself. Anna Maria Horsford is not the Same Person that Played Dee on What's Happening, That Was Danielle Spencer who is Now A Practicing Veterinarian.

  • Just when I think I know how extraordinary Gladys Knight and the Pips were, I see something that raises the bar yet again.

  • Yeah thats Thelma/Dee, she produced this show

  • OMG this brings back memories. Ahhhhhhhhhh the good old days.

  • My, my, my have MERCY....!!

  • This lady's voice gives me chills every time.

  • When I first heard "Here I am again" I got som serious chills, thats when I knew this was the only female singer for me!

  • IS that "Thelma Frye"/"Dee" from Amen & Wayans Brothers at 3:40?

  • You know, I questioned that to when I read it. I'm thinking it might have been her mom or something considering when this was made.

  • YEAH!! Can you beleive that is her. She was 26 years old, she surely doesn't look like she's even close to 60 but she was born in 47.This is her first show she worked for.

  • she was born in 44. not being smart

  • DUH!!! I KNOW EXACTLY WHEN EMPRESS WAS BORN.

I was speaking of Anna Maria Horsford, Keep up.

    Peace.

  • @higgybaby1 I'm way, way late, but it's her. Her wiki says she was a producer on PBS' Soul! from 1967-1973.
